People on the internet now have the ability to inflict physical pain on other users. Would you try to inflict pain on other people? (details in the description)

• Upvotes

In order to access the internet, users must now wear special gloves, otherwise using the internet simply does not work.

In addition, users now have the ability to inflict physical pain on other users. For example, let's just say someone on reddit calls you a fat loser; there would now be an option to where if you right click their name, you now have the option to punish them, where they will be inflicted with physical pain from the gloves they're wearing for around 10-15 seconds. You get to choose how painful it would be on a scale of 1 to 10. (more information on that later)

You can punish anyone you like, and for whatever reason. You can even punish people just because you love to troll people. But please keep in mind, other users can punish you too. However, for this scenario, you are one of the few people who can't be punished by other people, so you don't have to worry.

If you choose to punish someone, a prompt will come up asking how much pain you would like to deal to them on a scale of 1 to 10. Below is a reference on how painful each number scale might be:

1: Not painful at all. The gloves they're wearing simply buzzes, almost as if to warn them to stop

2-3: Very mild pain to mild pain:

4-5: Moderate pain: It hurts a little bit but nothing too bad.

6-7: Pain: This would hurt, but nothing excruciating

8: Quite painful: Someone would definitely be screaming or yelling in pain, but there be no injury

9: Excruciating: Very very painful. Someone who gets dealt a 9 wont be able to use their hands again for quite a few months.

10: Death: If you inflict a 10 on someone, they go through extreme pain and then die afterwards.

\please note, any punishment you inflict on other people is not against the law. So if you decide to hand out a bunch of 10s to other people, you won't get in trouble with the law.*

With that said, would you ever choose to purposefully inflict physical pain on other people on the internet? Under what circumstances? How painful would you go? And would you ever kill anyone?

Creative ways to get fired.

• Upvotes

A bored billionaire proposes a challenge: show up to work and get yourself fired in whatever way you choose. He’ll watch everything through your Ray-Ban Meta glasses. If you manage to entertain him, he’ll reward you with $10 million, tax-free. He’ll cover all legal expenses for anything you do, and there will be no legal consequences.
The billionaire can also give you suggestions during the livestream from your glasses, telling you what he’d like you to add or change.
If the challenge fails, your legal expenses will still be covered, and he’ll simply find you a new job with the same position and salary.

Loopholes Encouraged 50 euros (or currency ewuivalent) a day for each minor inconvenience you pick? Find a loophole and make it fun!

• Upvotes

You get 50€ tax free deposited into your banking account per a minor inconvenience you pick. Pick then all, pick one, pick none.

  1. Your shirt sleeve is always damp. If you go shirtless, it will be your pant leg. If you are naked, i guess you’re fine.

  2. You are disliked and even sometimes attacked by any animal you come across. Street dogs and cats will hiss and bark at you. Even your own pet. Not applicable to insects.

  3. Each meal you eat will be a bit bland, no “explosion of taste”. Mineral water or soda won’t have that crunchy nip on your throat, even if they are chilled to perfection.

  4. Your body temperature varies, you are always a bit too hot or a bit too cold. It won’t inhibit you in any way but it’s really unpleasant.

  5. Lose a random sense for five minutes a day. Sure, maybe you just lose your sense of smell between 03:05 and 03:10, but maybe you become blind on your after work commute? Would you risk it?

  6. You always smell just a bit musty. Clean as you are, the smell lingers on your skin/breath/clothes. Nobody will mention it in front of you but you will know that they know.

  7. A random body part itches every 20 minutes. You can try and ignore it but eventually you will have to scratch. It goes away when you’re sleeping and interestingly while you plank!

  8. You have a runny nose. It just doesn’t stop! You won’t get soreness in your nose from tissues or anything, but you’re gonna be wiping your nose at least three times an hour.

  9. A random person dies every week because of you. When it happens you will know. Could you live with that?

Feel free to mix and match! Loopholes are very encouraged!

Next Election Day, at 1 in the morning, Reality will split. Which side do you choose?

• Upvotes

The galactic council has decided that your society is too polarized, and the two factions too bitterly entrenched. Accordingly, they have decreed that, on Election Day early morning (1 am), there will be a split in reality to divide your two factions into (hopefully) more cohesive groups.

So, when the alarm clock goes off, Vance and Trump, et al., will wake up into a world where there are no Democrats; they all are on the other side of the split. On the other hand, Kamala and Newsome and their philosophical kin will wake up in a world where there are absolutely no Republicans. Only the persons themselves are gone; vanished without a trace; all of their property, possessions, and 'stuff' is left behind and one thing which the new rulers, on both sides of the split, will have to figure out is how to deal with this sudden windfall.

The split only affects your own society; it does not affect your enemies. So, in the United States, the remainder (on both sides) will still need to figure out what to do about China, Russia, and Ukraine. For those of you outside of the US, you need to expect that a similar split will be coming your way as well; how would it affect your society?

Lastly, those of you which are 'in the middle' must choose: Given these conditions, would those of you in the USA choose to wake up in the worlds of Team Red or Team Blue? Choose wisely, now, because after the split there is no going back...ever.

Everyone who commits a serious crime has to undergo a procedure so that they can no longer have children. What would a society like this look like?

• Upvotes

Everyone who has committed a serious crime and has been found guilty of it, must undergo a procedure where they can no longer have children. They will still get prison time as well.

Serious crimes that would result in this type of punishment:

- Murder
- Sexual assault
- Physical abuse of a child
- Possessing inappropriate media of children.
- Attempted murder
- Robbing someone's house
- Intentional assault which leads to hospitalization of the victim.
- Stealing anything worth greater than $1000
- Scamming others, where the victim has lost more than $1000 in value.

All of these crimes would result in this penalty and it can't be opted out of.

If this were to happen, what would a society like this look like?

Loopholes Encouraged A Powerful organization secretly ruling the world offers you 20 years of unlimted power and wealth, but..

• Upvotes

A organization secretly ruling the world from behind the scenes (think illumiati, free-masons, or incogni from the show inside job) came to you with an offer, 20 years of near unlimited wealth and resources, you can do almost anything your heart desires within the realm of realistically possible*,

You could for example, push cancer cures, allocate multiple world government resources to end world hunger and promote ending wars, or spend the 20 years in complete luxury or isolation on a yacht, island, or even in space.

But,

At the end of the 20 years, you and your likeness would become public enemy #1 for an abhorrent crime against humanity. Wether you did it or not, all evidence will lead to you being the sole instigator on top. Nearly every person and government will demand for your public execution. Your children, family and close friends if you have any will carry the results of this public shaming and to their decendants, but will not be exceuted with you.

This organization knows you well, they tell you the only way to avoid this, is during those 20 years, to do something you'd consider the worst act imaginable.

Rules :

  1. you cannot reveal the existance of this organization, as any attempt to do so will be immediately known and deterred by a higher counsel
  2. You cannot harm, overturn or know the identity of the higher counsel. You cannot demand a higher position or ask for a extension pass the 20 years.
  3. You can decline and they will choose someone else. However once you accept the offer, you cannot retract even if you do essentially nothing with the power or wealth.
  4. *Realistically possible, meaning you cannot ask for things in the realm of fantasy. They are a organization, not magicians.

Examples: no pet dragons, or pet dinosaurs like jurassic park (but with their resoruces they can build you and island with mechanical one though it would have to be realistic). no super powers, time travels or be a superhero, but you can play one on TV.

  1. Depending on the scope, certain demands may take a realistic amount of time to fulfill. (ie, new construction projects, artistic endevors, etc)

  2. You cannot order the end of the world. Or end to your life prior to the 20 years.

  3. Any positive or negative actions taken within the 20 years will continue even after the 20 years are over. ( ex. if you say all universities must be free, public and fully funded, it will continue or until the person selected after you chooses to retract it, you cannot chose who is selected after you.)

  4. The organization will have to accept any action or request that doesnt harm them or the offer dealed. If its possible, no matter how unreasonable.

(example: all of humanity must migrate off planet earth into space (this request is technically possible and can be considered unreasonable, the organization must follow through, though it may take far longer then 20 years and your successor you can overturn it)

For the next 20 years you would be nearly unhindered, any good you do will persist, and any bad you do will be completely covered up.

Would you accept their offer? If so, why and what are some ways you would enjoy the 20 years?

Edit:

[No Loopholes] The God Room

There is now a door in the side if your bed room. Inside is God. Big G god. You are free to enter the room whenever your wish and if you do so you can ask God questions, and will receive the 100% truth. However the cost for entering the room is “something irreplaceable”. This could be anything. Could be your parents, a child, your memories of your first love, your genitals, your eyesight. Anything. Once inside the room you can stay and ask as many questions for as long as you wish. Payment only occurs once per entry.

Do you enter the room? How many times? Do you allow others to enter the room?

A man near you says “Hi, I’m Bob.” He waves his arm and the Sun turns off. “Convince me why the Sun should be turned back on. And please don’t be boring and say ‘because everyone will die.’” What do you do?

You don’t know who or what Bob is. He just looks like an average man. I suppose you could try to force him. Who knows, maybe he’ll comply if you can beat him.

Besides that you don’t know what argument will convince him. Might as well give it your best shot.

And he will turn the Sun back on if you’re successful. And leave never to be seen again.

There’s no real time limit, but after a few days the temperature obviously will have dropped a lot, and after some weeks a lot of things would be in trouble.

If you do nothing or fail the Sun will remain off.

What do you do?

[No Loopholes] Power Burden

A genie appears. It's been centuries since he has just given away a power to a mere mortal with no consequences or loopholes. So he's feeling "slightly" generous. He offers you, the mere mortal, the power to have people just always be truthful to you. This power has almost no limitations, but it does come with full control. People won't just be uncontrollably truthful with you. You prompt them. It's not that they can't lie it's just that when prompted by you they just completely lose the desire to lie to you. If you ask a killer if they killed someone and they did they will honestly answer you yes. If you ask them why they will honestly tell you why. The other benefit to this power is that after they answer you honestly, people will be absolutely and wholly convinced that they did so of their own free will and will never be suspicious of you having this power.

Knowing the inevitable and obvious pitfalls and downsides of having this power, do you accept this power or no? And if so, why?

$10 Million Challenge: Can You Drive Across America Without Stopping?

You and one person of your choice have been offered $10 million to drive across the United States, from Eastport, Maine, to Cape Flattery, Washington.

There’s just one catch: you must complete the journey in one continuous trip, and you’re not allowed to stop for more than one hour at a time.

The Rules

1. You must bring a partner.

You can choose anyone you want, and you can take turns driving so the other person can rest. However, you must complete the journey together unless a medical emergency forces one of you to leave.

2. You get one-hour breaks.

You can stop to refuel, buy food and drinks, use the bathroom or pick up supplies, but once your hour is up, you must continue driving.

An hour per day, that’s all that’s allowed

3. You receive no money upfront.

You must pay for everything yourself, including your vehicle, fuel, food and tolls. You’re allowed to use your savings, take out loans or use credit cards, but the organisers won’t give you a penny until you finish.

4. You can choose your vehicle.

Your options are a standard two-seater, an SUV, a van, a long-haul truck, a bus or an RV. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, and you cannot switch vehicles once the challenge begins.

5. Weather emergencies can change your route.

If a major weather emergency affects an area you’re travelling through, you’ll be redirected around it, even if that adds hundreds of miles to your journey.

6. Getting pulled over doesn’t mean you’ve lost.

You can receive a ticket, but once the police let you go, you can continue. However, if your vehicle breaks down, you’ll have to fix it yourself using the tools provided. If it’s damaged beyond repair or you can’t get it running again, the challenge is over.

7. Medical emergencies are treated differently.

If either of you suffers a medical emergency, that person will be taken to hospital. The other person can either quit or continue alone. If they successfully finish the journey, the $10 million will still be split equally between you, meaning you each receive $5 million.

The Prize

Once you reach Cape Flattery, Washington, the $10 million is deposited into your bank account. But if you fail to complete the challenge, you get nothing.
You have to finance the entire trip yourself, deal with thousands of miles of driving and handle whatever problems come your way.

So, would you accept the challenge for $10 million?

There’s a religion that explicitly requires human sacrifice and you’re in charge of deciding whether to ban the religion

Proponents of banning the religion argue that since human sacrifice is illegal and the religion explicitly requires human sacrifice that the religion itself should be banned. They argue that this would make prosecution easier as that way a person would only need to be proven to be a member of the religion, and not specifically proven to sacrifice other people in order to be prosecuted.

People against banning the religion argue that just because the religion explicitly requires human sacrifice doesn’t necessarily mean all it’s followers will try to sacrifice people as some might either ignore that requirement of their religion or interpret it as allegorical. They argue that people who practice this religion but don’t engage in human sacrifice shouldn’t be punished just because their religion, if taken literally, requires human sacrifice. They argue that even if the religion isn’t banned members of it who do engage in human sacrifice could still be prosecuted.

What decision do you make about whether or not to have this religion be legal?

You’re head of a prison “recruitment” program, you get free reign on how you recruit your “prisoners”

The corporation you work for promises a C-Suite promotion and a huge bump to salary, but only if your prison meets its inmate quota.

You are looking at 2 options:

- Ragebaiting online about prison situations, then legally arrest and detain people who call for others to be put in prison for shits and giggles.

- Honeypot: Hire entry level actors to get people to do dumb shit and arrest them.

You gotta fill up 500 slots in your prison.

Not limited to the above 2 options, how would you go about this?

Loopholes Encouraged $10,000,000 but your nipples randomly giggle any time of the day.

You get the money upfront but upon acceptance your nipples randomly may emit giggling noises throughout the day. You must take the deal for all nipples, but must have at least two attached to take the deal. There is no point in which this cannot happen, so at night when you're trying to sleep, they may giggle. There's no telling when it will occur but when it does it is randomly between 20 seconds and 2 minutes. They may not giggle at the same time but they may overlap. The giggling is normal and has no particular curse qualities like being always annoying or something. As it is a normal sound it obeys physics and can be muffled. As all humans have nipples all humans can take this challenge.

If a nipple is removed due to medical issues (i.e. cancers, injuries) the cost of the surgery is completely covered but half the cash balance is taken in what is remaining from the money granted down to zero. You cannot go into debt due to this curse if applied for a qualifying medical reason. The other nipple does not stop giggling though and the curse persists regardless of the loss. If the nipple is removed willingly to stop the giggling explicitly this does cause a debt accrual and anything bought with the money will be instantly repossessed.

Will you take the deal?

NFL Fans - Draft position or guaranteed playoffs?

Theres a loophole found in the NFL Rules that recently gets discovered

Your favorite team has the choice to either:

A) Be guaranteed to be given a spot in the divisional round in the playoffs for the next 3 years, no matter the record of your team. The cost of this, would be that during these 3 years, your team must sacrifice their first round draft pick.

or

B) No matter your teams record, your team is automatically given the 1st overall draft pick for the next 5 years. Whether you are the worst team in the league or win the superbowl, your team is guaranteed the first overall pick. - Your first round pick you would've gotten based off your record becomes the first round pick, you don't get two.

If you decide to go with Option A. Your team cannot rest starters throughout the regular season knowing that they will make the playoffs, if the NFL has reason to believe that your team isn't trying in games, it can void the deal and still take the picks.

Annoying Curses

You offended a moody enchantress by walking under a ladder, crossing a black cat’s path, braking a mirror, opening an umbrella indoors, and/or spilling salt. She has already used up most of her curse credits for the month, so she can’t curse you to death. She’s limited to cursing you with one of the following inconveniences/annoyances.

• You always think of a clever thing to say, the next day in the shower.
• When driving the police magically appear behind you whenever you speed or do any other mildly illegal thing.
• 2/3rds of the intersections you drive through are red, forcing you to stop.
• 50% more telephone solicitors, junk mail advertising, adds on YouTube, social media, and streaming services.
• You forget people’s names 50% more often, and people know you forgot their name 50% more often.
• Every cool sounding movie that comes out has that one annoying actor in it.
• 50% more songs get stuck in your head, but you can’t remember where the song is from.

Which curse do you choose?

You’re forced to choose between eating the Carolina Reaper or an unknown lollipop

In either case you must eat the entire carolina reaper or the entire lollipop. You will have no way of knowing what the lollipop is until you make your selection, and then you will only know if you choose the lollipop. Neither is not an option in this scenario.

Which option do you choose?
