im aware of what it means and the risks that come with a brown recluse population in the home.
im entomophobic, this has been a traincar of a pill to swallow.

the ones in the second photo have been there for a very long time, i couldn’t bring myself to look up what specific species left them when i first moved in (5 years ago)

i gained the courage last week, ive been tending to other possible hiding spots, now i just need logical and rational reassurance as to how to go forward with removing these without flailing the f out

thank you for any help

DIY How to stop eating fast

I come from a place where I was in deep poverty and I got used to eating food really quickly, I’m now in my 15s and I’m trying to lose weight but I heard that eating food quickly is bad for digestion.

I do try to counter this with digestion walks but most of the times I’m unable to do so.

I do also deal with stress eating, so when I feel stressed my mind firsts instinct is to eat to cope, if that makes sense.

I’m 6’1 240, I was 180 some years ago, I don’t want it to get worse as you can see

If anyone has any advice for my issues, it would be awesome, thanks.

How can I fix this crooked miniature wall without making it worse?

I attached one little wall slightly crooked and, of course, didn’t notice until the next piece refused to sit where it should. The joint is dry now, so I’m not going to start yanking on it and turn one mistake into three. I just don’t know whether the smarter move is to leave it, carefully separate it, or adjust the next piece around the error. What would you try first without wrecking the surrounding parts?

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to open this photo frame. I got it at Goodwill, the beveled glass is awesome and very heavy, but the frame is solid around the entirety. How would I get a new photo in there?

Serious Answers Only How do I get this bathroom door to close?

Thumbnail

We’ve had this problem since we moved into this house a year ago, and we’ve just dealt with it. But we’ll be having guests soon, and I don’t want them to have to use the bathroom with the door not latched.

Things I’ve tried:

- planing and sanding. Door fits absolutely perfectly without the hinges. Moment I add the hinges, won’t close and it’s WAY off.

- tightening the screws. The hinge didn’t feel loose, and the screws wouldn’t go any further.

- longer screws. See above.

- New hinges. I even plugged the holes with toothpicks and glue to give the new screws something to grip.

Bottom of the door, hinge closes almost completely. Nice tight fit. Top of the door? Not so much. I can literally see out of the gap into the hallway.

I’m at my wits end here. Please for the love of everything holy and before I end up taking a circular saw to my freaking door…what else can I try. Why is it doing this when the door CLEARLY FITS without the hinges? 😩

Serious Answers Only How to clean and sell my most expensive poor decision

Thumbnail

Please be kind.

In March of last year, I ended an unhealthy relationship of 9 years and moved into my mom's extra room. Someone I knew lived in an RV and they said it was really cost effective, and cheaper than having to rent a room or apartment. So, foolishly, I bought this RV to live in.

Then I fell into a severe depressive episode. I lost my job and was barely keeping myself alive. I fell hard into addiction and it was just a whole mess.

During this time I neglected doing any maintenance on the RV. I haven't cleaned it once. There were a few small voids I never got around to recaulking. I just abandoned it fully.

I got sober in March, moved out in August and finally got a job last month. Now I finally have some capacity to address this incredibly expensive, awful decision.

I've realized RV living is just not for me so I just want to sell it. However, I've never tried to sell anything like this before and I don't know how screwed I am. I assume the value has gone down a fair bit. I don't know the best way to clean it, how to check the condition, etc. I don't even have a truck to tow it... I truly did not think it through.

It's a 2020 Jayco EAGLE HT, I bought it for 27,900. I was able to pay for it in full up front because my ex bought me out of my half of our house equity. I know, I know, I was in a really lucky position to have that kind of money and then I went and made a really fucking bad financial decision. I was not in a rational, grounded state of mind. It was a rough time.

Here's the JD power page for this specific model:

https://www.jdpower.com/rvs/2020/jayco/m-264-bhok/6590045/specs

The interior is perfectly fine, I've only been inside a few times while I've had it, otherwise everything has been kept closed. The owners before me also only used it a few times before selling it so it's barely used. I bought a brand new battery for it since the one it came with died.

Any help or guidance for where to start would be highly appreciated. Again, please be kind. I already know I fucked up. I'm just trying to salvage what I can from the situation.

DIY How would you glue hollow ceramic statue together?

Thumbnail

Hello everyone! I recently acquired this statue and am looking to repair it. I’ve seen several people online recommend superglue, E6000, 2 part epoxy, and JB Weld. I have some of these adhesives on hand, but my main concern is how to support the statue while the glue cures. The top portion is fairly large and heavy, and I’m worried it might tip over or shift out of place before the adhesive sets.
What adhesive would you recommend for this repair, and how would you suggest supporting the statue while it cures to ensure everything stays properly aligned?
I’ve attached pictures for reference. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Serious Answers Only how do i bend these tiny greenhouse wires without breaking them?

I’m stuck on the flower section of this miniature kit, and the instructions want me to twist these microscopic green wires into perfect little stems for the paper leaves. Every time I try with my regular tweezers, the wire either kinks strangely or snaps completely. I’ve already ruined three, and I haven’t even started the main structure yet. I tried heating the wire a little, but that did absolutely nothing. how am I supposed to build rolife cathys flower house dg104 if I can’t even get past the first row of plants? Is there a particular tool or technique for bending these without ruining the coating? any advice would save my sanity right now.

Homemade Slush (Snow)

Hey so I’m trying to do a thing for one of my classes that involves slush (like wet snow). Where I live it hasn’t gotten to that point of the year to allow for snow to fall and slush to form just yet. I’m wondering if anyone knows how or if they have any ideas on how to make slush themselves. (Maybe like altering an already existing homemade snow formula?)

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Serious Answers Only Looking for quicker cloth cutting methods.

I am looking for a quick and preferably simple way to cut a shape out of some fleece cloth for sewing some plushies, that is not just me cutting them out by hand. If I cant find a way, cutting everything by hand will be what ill be doing.

Something that can be done repeatedly with little effort would probably be best as the goal of this is to be able to finish a large number in a few hours.

Ive tried to think of a few ways to do this but im just not sure where to start.

Hole by TV

I’m trying to find the best way to patch a half dollar size hole I had to put behind/next to my TV in order to install.

The TV is mounted above fireplace, over brick chimney. That’s why I needed to make the feed hole to the side.

Patch doesn’t need to be perfect because it will be mostly covered.

Thanks for the help!

DIY What is the easiest/safest way to break the plastic tabs off the knockouts in this electrical box?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I am installing this electrical box, but we have an old house with thick wires so I need more space than the knockouts provide for the wires to fit. With other boxes I've used, I can just bend the tab to fit the wires but the tabs on this one are connected. Would a Dremel be my best bet?

How to make an interactive online document/map?

This may be hard to understand…. But does anyone have suggestions on making a document “interactive” in the sense that I can click on certain areas of the document, and it will open up a pop up window (within the same document) PREFERABLY FREEEEE!!!

For context: I work in a rose garden, and I wanna make a map where I can click on certain areas of the map document, and a pop up window will tell the kind of rose is planted in that area.

Unclutter excel pivot table

So I will try to explain this the best I can. I am trying to remove the majority of the highlighted in my pivot table. Most of the "1"s all refer to themselves and are mostly unneeded. I need the total for each SET of rows but not each row but don't need the total under each row. It just clutters things up and makes it harder to read. Please be gentle. I am new to excel and mostly self taught.

As the title says, I put it in the wrong end, it's now held in by a magnet and too far in to grab it with anything.

How can I get it out, I've already got another one so not the end of the world but would be nice to salvage it.

I've tried tweezing it, magnets some pry tools, any ideas?

[Solved] How to figure out what thickness and how to attach filter for home furnace?

Hi guys, first time homeowner here and was wondering what size of filter I should get for our home furnace? The dimensions of a filter that fit are 16x20x? And it's that last "?" that's giving me a headache.

Here's a video of what the filter area looks like. I almost feel like there's something missing, like the "track" is supposed to be where a 16x20x1 filter should go but it's just free standing. When I opened it up for the first time there was a 16x20x1 filter but it was just leaned over on its side, and I wasn't sure if it was doing anything, it wasn't even against the furnace part.

My alternative thought was to put the filter in the area between the "track" and the furnace part, but that measures 8 inches and I don't think they sell filters that deep. Would a 16x20x4 inch filter work if I just plop it in there? Should I stack two of them in there to fill the gap?

Tl;dr: Is my furnace area missing sections that are supposed to make it work better? Or will a 16x20x4 inch filter propped up against the furnace work? It just seems weird to have filters not slotted into place.

Thanks for your help.

How to best hold this wire in place?

Thumbnail

I have these quartz and metal doorknobs, they originally came with wire wrapped around, but they broke very easily and the wire started unwrapping.

I've reattached the screw to the crystal with some strong epoxy and bought some new wire to replicate the original design, but the question is the best way to properly secure the wire after rewrapping.

I was thinking of getting a soldering iron and trying to solder the wire to the screw part, but I'm not sure if that would actually work.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
