Announcement The purpose of this subreddit

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)

Please take the time to read the sidebar before posting. Thank you, and welcome!

Ring-shaped patches on my arm for 3 weeks. Pharmacist gave me clobetasol, but I'm worried it might make things worse.

• Upvotes

Age: 17

Sex/Gender: Male

Height and weight: 5'2" (157 cm), around 44 kg

Race/Ethnicity: Filipino

Geographic location: Philippines

Pre-existing medical issues: None that I'm aware of

Current medications: Clobetasol propionate cream, applied once so far

Duration of complaint: Around 3 weeks

Symptoms and description:

I've had several ring-shaped patches on my skin for about 3 weeks. The patches on my arm are flat, not itchy, and have a clearer center with dry, slightly scaly skin around the edges. I initially thought they were just dry skin, so I used lotion.

I also have around 1–2 similar patches on my legs and 2–3 on my back. I've attached a photo of the patches on my arm.

I asked a pharmacist about them, and they gave me clobetasol propionate. I haven't had them examined by a doctor, so I'm not sure if they're actually ringworm. I also recently learned that clobetasol is a potent steroid, and I'm unsure whether it's appropriate for this condition.

Unfortunately, I can't really afford a doctor's consultation right now.

My questions are:

  1. Do these patches look like ringworm, or could they be another skin condition?

  2. Is clobetasol propionate an antifungal, or should I be using a different treatment?

  3. What affordable treatment options are available in the Philippines?

  4. Is there anything I should avoid doing while these patches are present?

I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Women's Health Late period, mucus and symptoms

• Upvotes

23 f, there's no risk of pregnancy since I didn't have unprotected sex.

I've always been a little irregular, my gyno suspects PCOS but we have to do more examinations for a proper diagnosis. I took 2g of inositol for 21 days last month to try to stabilise it because she doesn't want me to start BC yet because of a 6 cm cyst on my left ovary, which we don't know yet if it is a "normal" ovarian cyst (so just filled with liquid that would disappear with BC) or one of those cysts that are more solid (I can't recall the proper scientific name, I'm so sorry), anyway I did some exams and it's nothing malignant.

My last period started on the 17th of September, today is the 17th of October. If we were to consider the standard 28 days, I should have had it by the 14th, but it isn't here yet. Usually it being late doesn't worry too much, but last month I coincidentally had a singular episode of watery diarrhea (literally once and done) while it was late, on the 11th of September, and then six days later I had my period.

I've never had liquid stool before my periods, at most just some softer bowel movements, but that's it. It could be a coincidence, sure, especially considering I had a stressful week the days prior that one (I'm emetophobic and my brother had a bad indigestion and threw up, and even though I know it wasn't anything contagious, I spent 5 full days panicking about it and checking every symptom).

So, one hypothesis could be anxiety: maybe once I calmed down completely my body just "dumped" everything.

Another could be the cold weather: on that day I had a small breakfast since it was late morning, but got undressed immediately after that to take a shower. I was alone at home, so I walked around naked to get something I forgot from my room, and all the windows were open and it was so, so cold. I literally felt it in my stomach. My doctor said that your stomach being exposed to cold temperatures right after eating can cause some minor bowel issues, especially considering that right after I felt cold, I jumped into the boiling shower and then had lunch.

I have ocd, emetophobia and a huge fear of diarrhea, so I'm terrified by the small chance that it might have been caused by my period and of it happening again. I'm scared it might be a new normal pms symptom for me??

Anyway, I've been having lots of mucus/vaginal discharge these past few days, it's watery and sticky and sometimes in big gloops. Is this a sign my period is coming? Or was the inositol completely useless? Or maybe my period is late because I spent the past 30 days worrying about my stools and diet and everything?

Bones, joints, and muscles Neck lump

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone!
Did anyone have a lump on one side of the back of neck, it feels tense, but it is not visible, no pain, not irritated, you can just feel it when touching, like thicker and bumpier tissue. Additionally, also near it on the muscle of the neck there is a small pea-like moveable lump i think it feels like small swollen lymph node. Don’t know if they are related, but did anyone have similar?

Boring post but no clue what I have

• Upvotes

Hi all. 6 days ago I broke out in low-grade fever and the symptoms i’m about to list out. Flash forward to today and none of those symptoms show any sign of slowing despite seeming like a normal virus.

On day 2 I tested negative for strep, flu, covid, and RSV

Symptoms (I am 25M if that helps):
Fever - low grade, in the 100-102 range during the day
Nonstop pulsing headaches
Muscle aches
Chills
Fatigue

Sorry for the boring post I know these symptoms aren’t interesting. I was expecting this to break within 3-4 days and wanted to check here before urgent care.

Chest and lungs Normal Chest X Rays but failed Spirometry test? could it be asthma? (I also need opinion about scars)

Post image
1 Upvotes

My chest X-ray results say “Lungs are clear,” with the impression stating “Normal chest findings.”
However, I recently took a spirometry test and failed it.

For additional context, we moved to a new apartment 10 months ago, located beside a busy main road. I am also exposed to some secondhand smoke from my uncle, who has been staying with us for a few months while on vacation.

I’m starting to feel anxious because, last November 2025, I received a false report suggesting that I had lung scarring. As soon as I received those results, I sought a second opinion.

The other clinic performed more comprehensive examinations, including X-rays from different views, such as the front, back, and side. After reviewing the results, the pulmonologist confirmed that I had no lung scarring and that my lungs were healthy.

This week, I had another chest X-ray (the one shown in the picture), and the results again indicated normal findings.

My main concern is the possibility of lung scarring, even minor scarring. Do the white spots I circled in the image look like scars? I work abroad as a food handler, and I understand that some countries have strict medical screening requirements regarding lung scarring, even when it is minor.

I would really appreciate your opinions. Do you see any signs of lung scarring, whether significant or minor, or does the X-ray appear normal, as stated in the radiologist’s report?

If my chest X-ray is normal, what could explain why I failed the spirometry test? Could exposure to air pollution from the busy road or secondhand smoke have affected the results? (I also got Cat Scratch disease for a few months March-May 2026. But I got medications and was cured. Could that also affect the lungs)

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I live in Texas north of Houston in a rural area. My daughter playing outside at night and came in with blood running down her leg. I cleaned it up and noticed two puncture marks. They are very small but there was a lot of blood considering their size. We do have bats, spiders and snakes all have been seen in our yard. What could this be? She says it does not hurt amd she did not feel anything bite her. Please help cause I am freaking out it's a bat.

Seeing a flashing black blob and sparkles/stars in my right eye

F18, 120lbs, 5'4. Located in Canada. Only medication I am taking is buspirone 10mg morning and night for anxiety, and I have been taking it for the last year. Last month I started taking silica + biotin vitamins, aswell as probiotics. I smoke cigarettes occasionally.

For the last week I have been seeing a flashing black blob in my right eye only, if I am staring at something the blob is slightly to the right, the "sparkles" are far right/ in my peripheral vision. The sparkles are occasional, but the flashing blob is there constantly. There is no pain but it is very annoying and concerning. I wear contacts because I am nearsighted, usually my left eye is more blurry, but now I am noticing my right eye is more blurry. There is no blank spots in my vision or any "dark curtains" so the optomotrist I saw ruled out retinal detachment. He also suggested eye floaters, but I don't think it's floaters because I've had floaters my whole life and I can barely see them unless I focus on them, the stuff I am seeing right now is always very obvious.

Optomotrist told me he thinks that I am having some sort of visual migraine but I don't think so... I used to get migraines which were very painful and lasted only a couple hours, but I never had any visual symptoms and it was always only on the left side of my head. Where this issue has no pain, is constant, and is on the right side. I have not had a migraine in over a year.

I'm really concerned that there is something more serious going on and I'm scared that one day I'm just going to wake up and not be able to see, or be in extreme pain. You only ever get 1 pair of eyes. What should I do from here? Is this possibly something neurological or am I getting too far ahead of myself?

Bones, joints, and muscles Back injury turning into sciatica possibly? Unsure if sciatica or something else.

28 Male, with Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos.

So I recently got a back injury. It’s not my first time and I was doing stretches, spending most of my time walking around, or swimming, avoiding picking up anything or bending too much ect ect. Basically dealing with it the same way I’ve done every time I’ve hurt my back. Except I got hurt at work so had to go through workers comp to go to a doctor and then got prescribed Physical therapy as part of it. Great right? Well except it takes weeks to get an appointment because workers comp is slow. By this time my back is close to normal. First P.T. visit I talk about the injury also explain I’m hyper mobile, explain what I’ve been doing and talk about my job ( involves a lot of moving heavy stuff). Well he has me demonstrate my full range of motion then had me move 150 lbs bent over down a hall and pick up 50 from the floor despite me talking about how much bending that far still hurts. Trust the physical therapist, should have taken also being asked to demonstrate some hyper mobile traits to their student as a red flag but oh well.(side the whole beighton test and a few ‘party tricks’ with my shoulders) Get home start having muscle spasms so bad I can’t sleep. Eventually start healing again after getting prescribed an anti inflammatory and muscle relaxer.
Got a different P.T. who’s a lot gentler with things, but now I’ve been told by that P.T. I’ve got sciatica? Except my actual back feels fine now like entirely. It’s been weeks since that happened. My main issue now is I can’t sit at all with out an insane amount of pain, and when I first get up in the morning I can barely walk or stand. I have to lean against the wall because my left leg gives out and it’s excruciating to stand. The pain is mainly in my inner left hip joint but shoots up my back or down my leg periodically. Then after a couple of hours of pushing through that I’m moving like normal until I lay down or sit at all and it’s back at square one. I didn’t have this at all from the initial injury. Also is this normal for sciatica? How do I make it better? P.T. has been trying different stretches but the only thing I’ve found that works is pushing through until I can walk or laying down entirely. I get it up way earlier now to get ready then go to work an hour before so I can make sure I’m moving. I can do my job just fine but don’t even sit on my break because I’ve found that starts the whole cycle over. Any confirmation of if this is sciatica or something else would be a great help.

Kidneys, bladder, and genitals is this herpes? NSFW

for about 2 days now i have been feeling this uncomfortable, constant, somewhat itchy, and sometimes throbbing discomfort in my vagina right underneath my clitoris. at first i thought it was a yeast infection but i do not have any foul smelling or abnormal discharge nor is the sensation in the same area or the same feeling as a YI. the area doesn’t burn when i pee - it actually is somewhat soothing - and i don’t have any other systemic symptoms (i.e. fever, body aches, etc) literally just this discomfort. i feel like i may have some type of abrasion but i did have new sexual contact 1 week ago. i am scheduled to get std testing in a few days but just wanted to come on here for peace of mind for the time being. i also don’t see any blisters or lesions myself but i attached an image of the affected area just in case. thanks in advance!

is my second degree burn infected?

Post image
1 Upvotes

(25F) burned my arm on part of the inside of my oven about 5 days ago and i think its second degree? for a couple days it was super dark/almost charred looking and then it all peeled off and it’s been super pale/yellowish colored underneath and hurting a lot. and today is very swollen and red. yesterday it was also weeping a clear fluid. this is probably one of the worst burns i’ve ever had so I’m just not sure what to look for or if this looks concerning for infection. TIA!

Hi all,

Awaiting the radiologist report. Doctor has said she can’t see a break and AI suggests a clear, oblique/spiral fracture line through the distal aspect of the fibula.

What’s the verdict?

Child Health Just a stomach bug?

Post image
1 Upvotes

My 3 year old has been sick yesterday and today. He was completely fine in the morning when I dropped him off. He has had a bit of a runny nose, but its clear and no coughing or sneezing.

He fell asleep at 4pm yesterday, halfway through playing. I picked him up and he barely woke up. He slept all afternoon/evening, we tried waking him for dinner, but if we woke him he'd whinge and fall back asleep.

He vomited once last night, and twice today. He wont eat, and isnt drinking a lot. The two times he vomited today were within half an hour of sipping some water. He did also have a couple of sips of my hot choclate (i knoe, not the best when they're sick).

He seems so sleepy. He' awake, but just watching tv, doesnt wsnt to play or move from the couch unless its to crawl on my lap.

No fever. No rash or anything. His vomit is a brown colour, which i thought was from the hot chocolate but he didnt have that yesterday and his vomit was the same colour.

He does seem to be working a little harder than normal to breathe but not sucking in a lot. His breathing seems more normal when he's asleep which makes me think he might be in pain, but he says hes not when I ask.

This is what his most recent vomit looks like

Desperately looking for answers, chronic illness has ruined my life and doctors don't have any answers yet (freshly 19M)

My story starts about a year and a half ago. Long story short I decided to smoke a weed cart that was possibly laced with a hallugenic or meth. I had a huge panic attack, hallugenic trip, fast and painful heartbeat and traumatic ER visit. Ever since then everything in my life was stripped away from me. If its worth not in I did play football around this time too and hit my neck multiple times and went to the doctor for but they said it was nothing. Anyways, I got really depressed and started to develop a multitude of chronic symptoms, whether or not they existed before I can't tell, and it has ruined my life to say the least. I went from a great football athlete to thinking id have a heart attack every time I worked out due to having new skipped heart palpations when I worked out.I know some of these are random, as I do suspect I have GERD (runs in family), but I just want to be as broad as I can be. I will put more stars ⭐ next to the main, most long lasting, and debilitating symptoms I suffer from. I also will leave some current new symptoms, but I did get mono a month ago (4-5 weeks) and currently recovering so I know those are more short-term hopefully. Please if anyone can help me get answers it would be change my life. Its cause me to withdraw from college, almost fail my senior year, loose my car, loose my girlfriend, and all my endurance and muscle gains throughout my football years.

Background/Family history:

  • Formerly perfectly healthy turned 19 yesterday male
  • Im tall (6'7)
  • Mildly hard life compared to the average person growing up, suicide, poverty, PTSD, and anxiety runs in family
  • GERD and EoE runs in family
  • Played football throughout high school (graduated earlier this year)
  • Mom has low blood sugar episodes but not diabetic (reactive hypoglycemia)
  • Grandma has a couple of autoimmune joint diseases, same with my cousin same age as me

Chronic Symptoms:

  • (MAIN SYMPTOM) Episodes and attacks of lightheadedness / feeling close to fainting, shakiness, and maybe occasional mild nausea, especially after HOT SHOWERS or WARM/HUMID ENVIRONMENTS (biggest ones) , playing basketball for a while (that one could be from mono, more recent), EATING (biggest ones), standing, talking, driving, in BIG STORES (biggest ones) (malls especially) or anywhere bright or a lot of visual stimuli ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
  • Chronic fatigue for around 2 years ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Consistently sleeping 10 hours a day with constant vivid dreams, constantly oversleeping, sometimes wake up with pounding heartbeat, few times ive woke up short of breathe ⭐⭐⭐
  • Cold hands and feet intermittently, especially during lightheaded attacks ⭐⭐⭐
  • Brain fog / feeling spaced out or disconnected ⭐⭐⭐
  • Thoratic outlet area pain, worse when attacks happen, pain in shoulder and shoots down to inner elbow ⭐⭐⭐
  • When I take showers and my hands are down to my sides, I notice my left hand turns almost super purple, shoulder aches, goes back to normal after shower or lifting arm up ⭐⭐⭐
  • Neck stiffness/tightness and top of scalp, better with massaging traps but happens during lightheaded episodes ⭐⭐
  • Increased thirst and bubbly spit ⭐⭐ (newer (1-2 months) but definitely persistent, could be anxiety or mono and diabetes ruled out)
  • Pupil dilation, big pupils during most, but not all attacks ⭐⭐
  • Sensation of full ears occasionally ⭐⭐
  • Occasional skipped heartbeats, sometimes at rest, noticed it more when I workout occasionally, gone down over time but still there ⭐⭐
  • Occasional heart palpitations ⭐⭐
  • Rarely happens but faint heartbeat-synchronized whooshing in the ear on the left, noticed after exercise once a few months and ago and recently after singing ⭐⭐
  • Have erupted wisdom tooth, sometimes I notice when I have pressure in my mouth, I get a little wet air pocket behind my bottom left wisdom tooth⭐⭐
  • Frequent belching  ⭐
  • Stingy dry eyes, slightly blurry vision ⭐
  • Occasional burning in stomach, especially after fatty meals, or random stomach pains, lots of chronic bloating ⭐
  • Occasional acid reflux and mild nausea ⭐
  • Intermittent frequent bowel movements or diarrhea ⭐

Symptoms brought on with mono:

  • achy middle of chest pain (feels more like esophageal and not cardiac) after eating or drinking, feels like trapped gas (new) ⭐
  • Hair falling out/ shedding, nails have horizontal ridges (worse) ⭐
  • very mild shortness of breath, especially after eating or when bloated (new) ⭐
  • constantly belching (new)
  • belching up acid (worse)
  • indigestion (worse)
  • ostocondritis type pain, sore to rub chest muscles (new)
  • sharp spleen pains occasionally, mainly when bloated (new)
  • enlarged spleen, going down slowly (new)
  • fatigue (worse)

Testing / Medical History:

  • Multiple ER visits over approximately 1.5–2 years (probably 6-9)
  • Around five ECGs, normal but none really during an attack
  • Echocardiogram a year ago, normal
  • Basic bloodwork, urinalysis, and diabetes testing reportedly reassuring
  • Non contrast head scan during a previous ER visit
  • Newly diagnosed with mono, associated with mildly elevated liver enzymes and an enlarged spleen, gotten two abdominal CT contrast scans and an ultrasound, enlarged
  • Follow-up imaging reportedly showed the spleen was improving but still enlarged
  • Every tests I've got (Ionized calcium, intact PTH, 25-hydroxy vitamin D, CBC with differential, basic metabolic panel (BMP), hepatic function panel, lipase, hemoglobin A1c, TSH, free T4, Monospot test, hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis B surface antibody, acute hepatitis panel, hepatitis A IgM, hepatitis C antibody, celiac disease screen, total IgA, fasting lipid panel, magnesium, vitamin B12, iron, TIBC, ferritin, ESR, CRP, urinalysis, ECG/EKG, echocardiogram, spleen ultrasound, CT scan with contrast) all came back normal besides high b12 levels, low vitamin d

Skin and nails What is this reddish black area on my foot (it hurts)

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I went to a doc and at first he said it was an allergy but 2 days later went to the same guy again he said it was a corn and after that I went to another doctor for a second opinion but he said it doesn't look like a corn and it might be something else so he told me to apply foot corn caps for 3 days and for god's sake it still didn't go.

I initially had an itch at that area and that itch came when I had some back pain or I sat in a weird posture and one day i couldn't take the itch and put my feet in hot water and the next day I had pain on that area where the itch was. The reddish brown area is almost the same as my other skin just a little bit harder and it hurts when I touch it .

Any advice would be appreciated
