Europe How is living on Bere Island in County Cork, Ireland?

I have a friend of mine who has visited a few times because she has family ties there. Before they moved, her family was one of two on the island, and the only one to have shoes at the time, making them island royalty in her words.

North America Tampa Bay/St petersburg?

Post image

Hello, currently living in virginia beach! Thinking about me and my girlfriend moving to Tampa Bay/st Petersburg (or honestly, any recommended city in flordia).

little bit about us -

both 27 years old, not huge drinkers or party type. night life is cool occasionally, but we are def home bodies. Kind of want to buy a house, but would rather rent 1-2 years then see if i love the area or not. we want kids around 30 years old, so please good areas. My job is fully remote, i can work wherever I want. she would need to get a job as she finishes her second bachelors degree to be a registered dietitian. my income alone can get us through while renting for sure.

grew up on the beach, sort of aware of what that brings to a city, maybe not to the degree of Tampa, but just in general.

what are some good areas and do you recommend this sort of move? I know it is preference, but kind of scary. we have grown up in VB our whole lives. any advice and safe/good neighborhoods help!!

I saw on the news that some of the French protests of the past days had spread to France's overseas territories and when seeing the footage i was kind of surprised to see that there were alot of white kids over there, that got me curious to what life is like for the white residents of the overseas departments of France.

Europe How is living in these costal andalusian citys

We are a couple from germany but we´ve lived in spain before (6 months in tarragona while studying). We both speak sort of ok spanisch probably around B1 - B2 and we both loved our stay there, but we we´ve had a hard time getting into the catalan language.

Now we are planning to at least try again for maybe a year or two and see how we like it in the south. We are also visiting next year for 2 weeks, but I just wanted a few infos from ppl. actually living there.

We´ve been looking closer at Sanlúcar, Chipiona, El Puerto and Chiclana.

Curious about these four towns on the Cádiz coast and wanted to hear from people who actually live there or know them well.

Differences between the towns? Are they all pretty similar, or does one stand out as more touristy, more lively, more laid back etc.? What would you say sets them apart from each others?

How brutal does it get in July/August? If someone can compare it to tarragona/barcelona this would be helpful. On the Internet I´ve found that the weather is hotter in andalusia but less humid and more windy, this making it overall more tolerable, when compared to barcelona/tarragona, is this true?

How welcoming are people? I’ve heard Andalusians are quite welcoming is this true?

Also how hard is the andalusian dialect, I´ve heard it can be quite tricky even for native speakers.

How is living a little outside the city center?

And just overall anything you think is worth mentioning.

thanks a lot!

North America What’s it like living in Washington DC?

I currently live in Columbus, Ohio but have always loved
DC. If you moved from elsewhere, are you happy with the move and what are some things you wish you would’ve known. Also, best neighborhoods for a married LGBTQ couple in their late 30s.

North America Curious about Middleton, Wisconsin

Wisconsin folks, how's it living in Middleton and the surrounding western suburbs of Madison? How would you compare it to Madison proper? What are the pros and cons of living in a place like this instead of in Madison proper? Been strongly considering a move here and debating between a couple of the different towns in this area. Context: 30M with wife and kids. Biggest desires are walkability to errands and parks without feeling like we're living in a densely urban environment, good schools, outdoor activities to do everyday, and access to a high quality hospital system (which I believe Madison has).

Europe What is everyday life like in the Channel Islands (Guernsey, Jersey, Sark, Herm and Alderney)?

Post image

I find it fascinating that these islands are so close to France geographically, yet have no link.

For those who live in Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark or Herm, I’d love to hear about your everyday life!

A few things I’m curious about:

What is daily life like on the islands?

Is it easy to make friends and build a social life there?

How expensive is housing and the general cost of living?

What are the job opportunities like?

Do you feel isolated?

What are the biggest advantages and disadvantages of living there?

Would you recommend moving there and why ?

I’m especially interested in hearing from locals and also tourist descriptions.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

North America What is it like living in Haiti outside of the capital? In Cap-Haitien, Gonaives or elsewhere?

I'm aware of the gang war that has sadly devastated Port-au-Prince. But I've also seen comments about how outside of the capital, life is still going on as usual in Haiti.

It's very hard to find news about how things are in the country's other cities or how the rural regions are doing right now. Does anybody know anything about how things are like outside of the capital, either now or historically?

Hoping and praying for better days for the country.
