General Discussion Why do you think so many golfers don't improve over decades of playing golf?

I am a single golfer and I get paired up with lots of randoms. The majority of them are guys who have been playing golf for 20-30 years but the majority of them are not good.

I used to get intimidated by these guys, the ones who wear golf clothing, have expensive clubs, those who make golf their entire identity...and it got me thinking, why are they so bad? I know they've taken lessons, they play regularly...but they still don't get better.

I'm drumming up conversation so let me know your thinking - thanks

General Discussion Shot my personal best (80) at Cypress Point

Shot my personal best today!!

I genuinely can't believe I just did that. Everything felt really smooth minus a few swings. One of those days where you don't even realize your score until hole 18. Putter was absolutely dialed. Course is unbelievably pure. Hope to be back soon

General Discussion Shot personal best, but….

Post image

I went out today and played 18 with some family and friends, all who are late 70s to early 80s.
So they played from the forward tee.
Wanting to keep the flow of play, I decided to play the forward tees.
I am a bogie golfer and carded a 4 over par (72).
I was 2 over each side.
I got no gimmies, no mulligans, played the ball as I found it.
But the forward tees made a difference, my second shot was usually under 100 yards, par 5 were reachable in 2.
Not to mention the greens had just been aerated. So putting was like plinko!

My question is, do I plug this into my GHIN? And if so what will this do to my handicap?

Just finished the 6 public Strantz courses. Easily my favorite courses that I’ve played so far in my life. Now I just need to figure out how to get on bulls bay.

General Discussion Who else does this happen to? (Driving range)

Go to the range a few times over the course of a week to try and work on nice easy driver swings. Think you’re do well and build some confidence.

Play a few days later and it’s like I haven’t swung a club for years. Frustrating. Top first tee shot. Pull hook the next few haha. End up having a few nice drives on 16 thru 18 and that’s it.

Starting to think the driving range is overrated.

General Discussion What’s the one shot you don’t trust on the course?

For me it’s the lob shot. I hit it pretty well warming up, but when the score matters I always avoid it.
No idea why.
What’s yours?

General Discussion Almost albatross

I absolutely hammered my 3w on a 260 yd par 4, down the pipe, slight controlled fade. I was watching it like no fuckin way. Anyhow, it catches a nice roll off the front of the green and bounces off the damn stick about 6 ft uphill. Greens were fast AF so of course I miss my eagle putt and it blasts by the hole about 12 ft, miss my birdie putt and tap it in for the most shameful par of my whole life. Never had a HIO, damn near had an albatross for my first, and fucking 3 putt. Why does this game have to be so cruel?

General Discussion Easiest mallet style putter to line up

Between the Scotty, the Spider and the 2 ball which do you find easiest to line up to the hole using the different sightlines?

I find the Spider the easiest to line up. I prefer the Scottys cleaner look but at the end of the day it's whatever gets the ball in the hole in the fewest putts.

Created this round report to learn from my game, what can improve etc. Exported from GolfStory.app

Hole 17 was tough, got into the green bunker but thinned and went a long way over the green, behind the pine tree ;(

General Discussion TPC Sawgrass

Just thought I would share this quick video from the clubhouse at Sawgrass. Every winner donates a club from their bag to the clubhouse display. It’s a fantastic gallery of “who’s who” over the years. The wedges are pretty amazing, as are their wear patterns….enjoy!
