To ppl with academic accomodations
I've recently been diagnosed with adhd but before now I have never thought about getting academic accommodations. From personal experience (or not), how helpful are they and should I consider it?

Hey! I'm a first-year in Health Sciences who wants to take BIO 3333 (the entomology course) sometime during my degree, but I noticed that the course is listed as "not regularly offered". I'm probably going to email the Faculty of Sciences to figure that out, but I wanted to ask in the meantime if anyone has had experience taking or enrolling for the class? Would you consider it more or less difficult or roughly on par with other biology courses you've taken?
Also, has anyone tried to take BIO 2135 without BIO 1131? How did that go, and would you recommend it or not? I probably won't be taking it until next year but I just want to get a feel for my chances before I take the plunge.
Thanks in advance!

yall are pieces of shit.
i hate when people think rules doesnt apply to them, so disrespectful.
people go to this floor knowing they can study in a SILENT environnement and yall just go BLAH BLAH BLAH…bavardage….
there is two people talking next to me and they are seriously pissing me off. they had the whole fucking floor but nah they chose to sit RIGHT NEXT TO ME AND THEY CANT KEEP THEIR MOUTH SHUT.
AND they could have chosen the other floors to go and speak.
i wish there were some kind of security to tell them to shut the fuck up.

I took it as an elective because it was online, though I feel like it’s mandatory for a lot of people depending on their program. Was it easy?

Yeah I’m cooked. Anyone who’s taken him before, do you remember anything about the previous midterms or exams? Specifically the actual questions he asked, or anything about the philosophers being compared. Like did he focus on freedom, reason, etc. We’re learning Kant, Mill, Wollstonecraft, and Marx for context.

Hey, I have my deferred final (summer 2026) for PSY3122 (Human Sexualities) coming up soon and was wondering if anyone who has taken the course has any tips or recommendations on how to prepare. Are there any specific topics I should focus on, and how did you find the final overall in terms of difficulty? Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!! :)

I want to do my honours next year so am starting to tgink about reaching out to profs. I have no idea what the first step is. Do I send my resume right off the bat? Is that presumptuous? Do I write a cover letter? My cgpa is nothing spectacular (~7.5) so I want to make a good impression off the bat.

I am a third year and have never joined a club on campus before. This may seem like a silly question, but I genuinely have no idea how to reach out to or join a club (or even if I can in the middle of the school year). Any information would be helpful.
I am also looking for recommendations on which clubs to join. For context, I have some pretty significant social anxiety issues, and I’m trying to make more of an effort this year to meet people and (hopefully) make friends. I am a Caucasian woman, so I imagine I would not be welcome in any clubs that are for specific minority groups. I’m looking for pretty much anything, as long as the people are nice.
I appreciate any advice or suggestions ❤️

Did you know that many of your professors are contract instructors? We are paid less than our tenure-track colleagues to teach the same course. Many of us teach as many, if not more, courses. We receive less benefits (we don’t even have vision coverage). Most of us must reapply for our own courses every year. We work just as hard as our tenure-track peers and believe in quality education. Support us as we, members of the Association of Teaching Professors of the University of Ottawa (ATPUO), negotiate a new collective agreement. Equal work, equal pay! Security, not precarity!

Did you know that contract professors make between 15k and 30k compare to 130k to 230k for tenure profs. More on full-time profs salaries: https://www.ontariosunshinelist.com/
