Reminder: Understanding Reddit's Rules and Posting Restrictions Is Your Responsibility

I want to clarify a few things about posting in r/GameDevPromotions, especially if you're new to Reddit or primarily use the platform to promote your games.

You are responsible for understanding how Reddit works before posting.

Reddit has sitewide rules, automated spam detection, account restrictions, and other systems designed to prevent abuse. These operate independently of the rules I establish for this subreddit. Your post being allowed under our community rules does not automatically mean Reddit will allow it through its own systems.

Reddit is also a collection of communities, not simply a place to advertise your work. Understanding how to participate appropriately, what constitutes spam, and how your account activity might affect your ability to post is part of being a Reddit user.

In the future, I won't manually investigate every complaint about posts removed by Reddit's automated systems.

I operate this subreddit voluntarily, and I don't have time to investigate individual account restrictions, posting histories, or the various reasons Reddit might flag someone's content. Resources are available to help you understand Reddit's policies and use the platform appropriately.

If Reddit is consistently removing your posts, take the initiative to understand why. Read the guidelines, understand how Reddit operates, and consider whether your posting behaviour might be contributing to the problem.

I want r/GameDevPromotions to remain a useful place for developers to share their work and discover what others are creating. Part of maintaining that environment is expecting everyone who participates to take some personal responsibility.

I am happy to provide a space for developers to promote their work. I am not here to troubleshoot how to use Reddit for every individual who encounters a restriction.

This is basic community housekeeping, and I think it's a reasonable expectation for anyone who chooses to participate.

Promote your work, yes, I’m telling you that it’s perfectly acceptable, unlike on r/gameDev.

Feel free to share whatever you want as long as it’s related to games. This space is meant to be a free-for-all—a bit like the wild west—where anything goes (within reason). The goal is to give folks a space to post freely and, hopefully, keep some of these posts from spilling over into r/gamedev.

We’re Peach & Panic, the duo behind Aziz Üsküdar’s Baba Records, a pixel-art record shop management game.

Buy low, sell high, match rare records with collectors, and decorate your shop to attract your crowd. You have 60 in-game days to make a name for yourself and earn an invitation to the Utrecht record fair.

The first five days are free in your browser. The full game is $1.99.

It’s still a youngster—please point out its mistakes so it learns not to repeat them.

AI disclosure: We designed the game and wrote its texts. AI assisted with code, visuals and this post; background music was made with Suno.

World of Frontiers dev diary: making endgame danger readable before the first hit

• Upvotes

I’m developing World of Frontiers, a browser space MMO. This diary looks at a specific UI decision: explaining danger at the point where a player chooses to enter it.

The last WoF diaries looked at first upgrades and AI wingmates. This time I want to talk about what happens when a pilot heads into a much more dangerous sector.

Dead Sector opens at level 18. That tells you when you may enter; it does not tell you whether your current ship, equipment and group can handle the encounter.

The latest warning UI makes that distinction visible in three places:

• On the star chart: an EXTREME marker and a warning in the sector details.

• At the entrance gate: advice beside the jump control, before you commit.

• Inside the sector: a persistent warning in the HUD.

The advice is “Leviathan or group recommended.” It is guidance, not a survival guarantee. Dead Sector also has PvP enabled.

The design goal is to give you enough information to choose your target, prepare your ship, bring help or turn back. I still want dangerous space to feel dangerous. I want the risk to be something you can understand before the first hit.

Would you prefer this kind of clear warning, a more detailed comparison with your current ship, or discovering most of the danger yourself? What would make the information useful without taking away the tension?

Clip: 6 seconds of earlier staged combat, followed by new local captures of the current warning UI, labelled as still images. It demonstrates the warnings, not the latest Dead Sector combat balance. Music: our original “Sternenordnung,” a different track from the last diary. Development and some assets use AI assistance.

Free to play in your browser, with optional purchases: https://florim-studios.itch.io/world-of-frontiers

You find yourself in a room with no door and fingers sticking out of the walls. At first, you press them out of curiosity. Then you learn to live with the consequences. Survive, experiment and find a way out solo or with up to 4 players. In ranked PvP, objects become weapons.

Veridian Police - First Look

Thumbnail

A first look at Veridian Police, an upcoming game planned to be released between 2027. I plan to release it on Steam. It is highly likely to be an early access title.

Veridian Police is a tactical first-person shooter game. Build your tactical response team, lead and equip your squad, serve warrants, and put criminals in handcuffs by any means necessary.

End goal: the game will expand upon the tactical and technical side of police work from previous games in the genre. There will be a high focus on NPC/AI behavior: ensuring they behave in realistic and complex ways, with framework for "dynamic variation" in gameplay - NPCs will also be tuned to their "archetype". while simultaneously providing a calming and comedic art style.

90 wishlists in about 20 days with no marketing budget. Is that a decent start?

My arcade racer Super Retro Race just hit 90 wishlists after about 20 days, with no marketing budget. I'm happy people are finding it, but I honestly have no idea if that's a decent start. How does it compare to your experience?

If arcade racing is your thing, I'd really appreciate a wishlist. There's a free demo too:

Table Shark: Blackjack Trainer - open beta

I’ve been building a blackjack trainer for learning basic strategy and it is now available in in Test Flight.

Check out Table Shark: Blackjack Trainer on iOS.

Yes, there are many of these types of apps out there, however I got tired of the ads or needing to buy new chips. Table Shark is completely free and its focused solely on teaching you how to follow the basic strategy and letting you test your skills without fear of loosing all your chips.

The app grades your decisions rather than the results. In game currency for cosmetic purchases is based on the player's decisions against the expected best plays.

You can learn a few ways. A coach can show you the best play before you act, or stand by and explain after the hand. There’s a drill mode for the hands you keep getting wrong, and a Straight Play mode with no help that tracks your progress. As you play, your strategy chart fills in, and you can tap any spot to see why the best play is best.

There’s nothing to buy. If you go broke, you start over with $1,000. The shop runs on Edge, which you earn only by making the right play, and it unlocks felts, chips and card decks. The better you play, the more of it you unlock.

Free, no ads, no account, works offline. Available only on iOS for now.

You can send feedback with a screenshot from TestFlight, or comment here.

I made a space maze game where levels quietly teach you physics!

Hi Reddit! I am a solo indie developer, and I want to share my very first game: Black Hole: Space Tilt (on Android).

I've always felt that video games shouldn't just be for killing time. For me, the best games always leave you with something meaningful - a cool new idea, a fresh perspective, or just something interesting to think about. I really wanted to create a game that gives you that same feeling.

So, what is the game? It's a space maze partially inspired by classic arcades. You tilt your phone to control a tiny captain flying through neon space toward a black hole. But here is the special part: as you play and handle the tilt controls, you are actually feeling the laws of physics with your hands.

I also added a special section called the Captain's Log. Every 10 levels, you unlock a short, real fact about space and physics. These aren't boring facts - they are the kind of ideas that make you pause and look at your hands or a cup of coffee completely differently. I don't want to spoil any, but one of them genuinely changed how I think about time!

What's in the game:

- 300 levels across 6 chapters, each introducing a new mechanic and ending with a big boss level

- Daily level (the same challenge for everyone every day)

- Endless mode with randomly generated levels

- 11 languages and full offline play

Bonus: you can play as a cute kitten wearing a space helmet (purely for science, of course!)

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sekhmeh.blackhole.game

I'd love honest feedback.

And out of curiosity: what's the one thing about space that still blows your mind?

Pixel Athletics: build an athlete’s career, compete in track & field — free Windows update + trailer

I’m making Pixel Athletics, a free pixel-art athletics career game in Godot. Create an athlete, train, manage recovery and compete across track events, jumps and throws, while balancing work, studies and life outside the stadium.

The latest update reworks jump and javelin run-ups, the high-jump rotation and back landing, pole-vault phases, and the movements for shot put, discus, hammer and javelin. The attached 48-second trailer is gameplay captured from Godot.

Free Windows download: https://caseros.itch.io/pixelathletics

There is also an experimental Android APK beta, not yet tested on a physical phone. I’d especially appreciate feedback on the field events and whether their movements are easier to read.

Disclosure: this is my own game. AI-assisted programming and trailer editing were used for this update.
