Gatefold is a theme for foo_ui_webview2. One installer sets up everything (foobar2000, the component, WebView2, the theme), and foobar2000 opens straight in Gatefold.

What it does

• Listens to your library once, locally (optional). A neural network (Discogs-EffNet) runs in the background at the speed you choose. Nothing is uploaded.
• Radio by sound. A radio from any track keeps its mood.
• Similar tracks. One click gives the closest-sounding songs you own.
• Mood playlists: calm, energetic, sad, happy, party, acoustic, and instrumental that really has no vocals.
• Genres for every track from MusicBrainz, ordered by the sound, even for files with no genre tag.

It's still foobar2000. Gapless, every format, ReplayGain, DSP, WASAPI exclusive, your components and the native menus all keep working.

Zero setup. One installer adds foobar2000 if needed, the component and the theme, and foobar2000 opens in Gatefold. No fonts or layouts to install. Updates take one click and can be rolled back.

Sharing Otoha, a heavily customized fork of Verdant by superziper, built around how I use foobar2000.

It features a softer blue accent, editable play order, drag-and-drop playlist management, resizable panels, and lyrics search/editing through LRCLIB, with an expanded lyrics view.

a new version of f2k mobile released 2 days ago, the most notable change imo is the addition of compact playback menu and that most of the ui was remade with swiftUI on ios, idk anything about android release since I only own an ios device

As far as the architecture goes, the music streaming works through a native torrent indexer that looks for lossless audio files for every song, à la Stremio, and streams them. If a song doesn't have a well-seeded lossless audio source out there, it immediately falls back on yt-dlp to play music from YouTube to avoid making the user wait too long.

Since I already use YouTube as a source, I added a "switch between audio/music video/live performance" feature, and to make good use of the extra space of a PC app, I have lyrics playing on one side and annotations from Genius on the other side, and even an auto-annotation mode where the shortest, most-liked annotations on Genius appear for every lyric (shortest for obvious reasons, users can listen and read the annotations without pausing).

And for the rest of the frontend, I plan to pepper it with all kinds of metadata available through Wikidata, MusicBrainz... credits for each song, Grammys or any awards won, that sort of thing.

And I plan to repurpose a streaming recommendation algorithm for music (my app already streams movies and TV shows, so I used some of its architecture to build this new music mode).

But that's where my ideas end, and I'm in development limbo because I don't know what to do with desktop music streaming that ultimately doesn't loop back to the UI/UX patterns of mobile streaming apps like Spotify and YouTube Music.

So that's why I need to know: what are the things y'all complain about with modern mobile streaming? Would you want to use a desktop music streamer? If so, what do you want? If not, what would make you shift to desktop streaming?

Is there any way to attach album art that finds it externally on my pc and loads it when opening the cd?
I can't seem to find anything related to album cover in settings and when i try to attach album cover art it doesn't work

Very new to foobar so forgive me if this has been asked before.

I have hundreds of .lrc files on my pc that were downloaded with songs, but OpenLyrics is finding its own from the Internet

Is that all it can do, as in, can't actually find .lrc files natively in the folder? I moved my lrc files to its folder and it downloaded a new one for the same song. Should I be using a different plugin for what I'm looking for?

style of visualizer isnt all that important, i wonder if its even possible to do so, adding onto an already existing fully functional theme.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but can't seem to find a direct solution to this.

I basically want to listen to tracks in my headphones before playing them on the main speakers, like a DJ would just minus the mixer/jog wheels.

I have an external USB soundcard on the way; the only way I can think of is to play the cued tracks in a seperate player (i.e windows media player) that outputs to the headphones, then have Foobar outputting to the main speakers.

Is there a way to do this solely through Foobar? Like a plugin of some sort?

Excuse my shit illustration, but I really want to understand how to use the MacOS layout editor. I looked at the wiki or whatever and the only thing I understand is what indentation does. Everything else is Greek to me! I can’t find any videos online of people even using foobar2000 for MacOS, let alone find someone explaining how to use the layout editor. Any help is much appreciated!!

Hi! I'm new to foobar200, and I'm trying to create some playlists with the songs I have, but I can't seem to make playlists without them opening up in another tab. Furthermore, when I have this tab selected, it hides all my songs, and I'm unable to add any songs to the playlist.

Is there any other way to create playlists? I was hoping to make playlists in a similar manner to most other streaming services: where I can create them without disrupting the album organization I have, and I can view the playlists in the same way I view albums.

Not sure if this makes much of a difference, but I'm using spider monkey panel for some of the windows. (Although I'm not sure which, the tutorial I followed was a bit confusing)

I've recently installed ColumnsUI to enhance my experience with foobar. As the community saying goes, "the best theme is the one you made yourself", so I tried that approach. In the old DefaultUI, I had the whole library list and current playlist side by side. That let me quickly create a new playlist and populate it. Just double-click the track in the library area and "bang!" it was at the end of the current playlist.

But for the life of me, I cannot reproduce it in the ColumnUI in the way I want it to look. Sure, there is the "Album list panel", but as the name states, it is just the list. I really want to see the covers in the library area.

Another issue I have is that reFacets filters only work in Playlist view. When I switch to Library, clicking once on the filter value just highlights it; clicking twice adds all tracks with such an attribute to the current playlist. I just want to browse :(

Minor issues: I cannot remove the "Add to favourites" button near the Search Filter on the toolbar; ctrl+Z no longer reverts changes to the Playlist (it worked like this in DefaultUI)

im pretty new to this sort of thing and this is my first time trying the app. im not very knowledgable on tech, i just like music a lot, so im having trouble figuring out how to put my own flac files onto foobar. ive tried googling it, but all the results are outdated by at least two years. where do i go from here to add my own flac files onto the app?

i just want to listen to the music ive been downloading without manually switching the songs :')

I recently discovered Foobar and I am loving it. Just cancelled Spotify. Uploaded all my CDs. Bought an MD player. Set up a home server to stream the music locally.

I am currently using Apple Music to download my CDs. Is there an advantage to using the Foobar application instead? I am recording everything as Lossless currently.

Also, Is there a way in the Foobar app to download an album to listen to it offline? Currently all my music is on my home computer and I am using Tailscale to connect remotely.

I've used Foobar for 20 years or more, but the Windows ARM64 version is killing me. Foobar v2.24 plays smoothly. v2.26 and all x64 versions on my ARM laptop cut out as if it's a buffering issue.

All output and advanced buffering settings are identical between the 2.24 and 2.26 ARM versions. Both are plain vanilla portable installs. My x64 laptop plays fine in all versions. Music is on an attached hard drive.

Anybody else getting this behavior?

Hi everyone — I’m the creator of Cyan Leaf, a custom interface for foobar2000 on Mac. I wanted to bring the feel of a classic hi-fi system to my music library: a brushed-metal finish, cyan controls, analog-style meters and animated visuals.

Cyan Leaf includes five visual worlds, album artwork and library browsing. It installs as a foobar2000 component plus a separate layout file; it isn’t a standalone player.

The current build is for Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or later), macOS 12+, and has been tested with foobar2000 for Mac 2.26. It does not support Intel Macs, Windows or iPad.

Hi! this is an archive terminal for listening: Swiss typography, a monochrome palette with one accent colour, and a sci-fi layer - your albums as rendered specimen cases on shelves, a Möbius signal ring that pulses with the music, synced lyrics (fetched online when your files have none), ten case skins and five colour schemes in light and dark. I built it with Claude doing most of the coding and rendering, with me directing the design. Feedback and bug reports welcome! :)
