Hii, for context, I'm male, 23, weigh 74kgs and about 5 foot 8
I'm trying to sort out my push, pull and upper days for gym. My goal currently is to drop body fat whilst I maintain my muscle as well as even building muscle. My diet is in check and, my protein is high (at around 160-180 a day). Albeit, I am following a bit of an aggressive cut (around 800 calorie deficit)
My plan is that once I do achieve my goal, I plan to increase my volume and change up my routine but for now, I really need advice. Is my plan optimal for my goals currently? Please help. Recommend any changes where you see fit
NOTE: I do follow a progression plan and I do track my stats. The reason I asked this is because a friend saw my plan and was like for someone following quite an aggressive cut, I think you might be doing too much. I get what he's saying but I don't want to do less and it ends up affecting my goals (if that make sense). I just want advice on the most optimal may on how to structure my push, pull and upper days
My progression plan looks like this:
- w1: maximum kg possible with 1-3 reps in reserve at 7 reps (for compound movements) or 9 reps (for isolation movements)
- w2: same weight at 8 reps (for compound movements) or 10 reps (for isolation movements)
- w3: same weight at 9 reps (for compound movements) or 11 reps (for isolation movements)
- w4: same weight at 10 reps (for compound movements) or 12 reps (for isolation movements)
- w5: increase weight at 7 reps (for compound movements) or 9 reps (for isolation movements)
for example:
- w1: 20kg lat pull down at 7 reps or 20kg preacher curl at 9 reps
- w2: same weight at 8 for lat pull down reps and same weight at 10 reps for preacher curl
- w3: same weight at 9 for lat pull down reps and same weight at 11 reps for preacher curl
- w4: same weight at 10 for lat pull down reps and same weight at 12 reps for preacher curl
- w5: increase weight at 7 for lat pull down reps and increase weight at 9 reps for preacher curl
