Discussion I loved Facebook in its heyday but I DESPISE the abomination that its turned into

I used to use facebook in its early days and it was such a wonderful charming little platform to share ideas and experiences.

Now? Its almost abrasive to the senses. There isn't a single spot in the newsfeed you can position yourself in where you aren't bombared with some fast paced video or AI slop.

Next, without even asking you, it will take your videos and turn it into a "reel" and then broadcast it to other people's newsfeed.

Next, if you try and make a post elsewhere and then try to edit something in the post.........the post just DISAPPEARS into a void.

Next is the FUCKING UI. If you try and see who all liked a certain post (by clicking on the like amount), it will instead just make you like the post yourself! Fuck just show me the list you asshole website. I didn't want to click like.

And the UI's architecture is fucking bizarre. It will never easily show you your own comments and posts on your profile. You have to click some stupid obscure icon, and then click on "activity log" to find it. Its so fucking unintuitive.

Fuck this platform. Every time I use it, I feel like I'm handling some kind of a nuclear bomb that can go off just because I sneezed.

Disabled/hacked 19 years of content gone, trying to get support just an endless loop of dead ends.

• Upvotes

On April the 26th I replied to a post on a private group and I guess someone did not like what I said because the next day my account was suspended. Due to the way Meta does the unified login that means 1 Facebook Account, 2 Instagram accounts, 1 Meta account (oculus) and the messenger accounts connected to all of these are gone. Not even mentioning the group I administrate with over 700.000 people.

19 years of content, friends and family, purchased games, all gone.

Of course I clicked on the appeal button which told me they would get back to me, usually within a day. That was on the 27th of April, nothing since.

There is no way to contact anyone or see what the status is. They say that I can check the status from the support inbox, but clicking on that link gives me a suspended page. They say I can submit a review of my failed appeal but to do that I need a case number from my support inbox but that is behind an account suspended page. For many months now I have tried many dozens of ways to contact Facebook or Meta but everything is a dead end.

I then thought, ok, it's fine, before Facebook I used to be on various social media platforms for posting photos and group activities, I can go back to those. Then I found that they are all gone. Bought up by Meta or simply shut their doors. The biggest network out there is BluSky which is a simplified version of what Twitter once was. There are some niche photo sites but they have next to no memberships. Facebook with its group and instagram features dominates the entire social media sphere and I'm now locked out without a way to speak to a human being.

To make matters worse, much of my elderly family only uses messenger to communicate and refuse to use something else, after all, Facebook has over 3 billion active users, why would you go somewhere else? Also I live in Japan where a lot of shops use Instagram for shop related information which is all locked inside their closed walls.

I think it's disturbing that 1 company, ruled by 1 man, can control the communication of half the planet without being able to talk to a human being. Funny enough my kids tell me to relax, Facebook is just for old people to stay in touch. They prefer discord, snapchat and X. But that's the point, i am old, and my family and friends and content of 19 years is now gone.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

Disabled/hacked Meta suddenly deactivated my Facebook and Instagram accounts, which are over 10 years old and I lost everything

A few days ago, my Discord, Steam, Instagram, and Facebook accounts were hacked. The hackers posted some crypto things to all my contacts, but I've since been able to change all my passwords and recover my accounts.

However, Meta has decided to deactivate my Facebook account for apparently violating their rules. I could appeal by taking pictures of my driver's license directly from the Facebook app, but when the camera launched, the page apparently glitched, and I immediately received a message saying my appeal was rejected, resulting in the permanent deactivation of my Facebook account. My Instagram account, being linked to Meta, is also deactivated. I no longer have any way to appeal, and unlike Discord/Steam support, Meta's support seems to be AI only, and I can't explain my situation to a human.

A few days later, I received an email from Meta saying, "Delete your Meta account from your Account Center before ____ to avoid losing access to your apps and in-app purchases. You will also be asked to confirm your age."

However, when I log into my Meta account, I still get the same message: my Meta account is deactivated. Therefore, I can't do anything. I should also mention that I have an Oculus Quest 2, so I lost all my games on it at the same time.

I registered with the Appeal Centre Europe to file a dispute, but I don't know how long it will take or if it will help me recover my accounts.

I'm lost and don't know what else to do...

Discussion Multiple Messenger Notifications that were invites to people I don't know's channels.

Is this a new kind of valid solicitation or have I made some kind of "hit list"? Five invitations to stranger's channels in the past 24 hours. All the same theme so far: discount store discussions. My most recent activity on this subject was searching Facebook Marketplace for a bedside table for Aunt.

Disabled/hacked Locked out for 40 suspicious comments, which were really me, and can't restore

Account locked, I assumed somebody had guessed password. So this morning, had to get code to Whatsapp then an e-mail to change password. Login history showed nothing strange. But I had 40 'suspicious comments' that were deleted. Looked at them, they were mine over several days. Nothing any different to what I usually made. Perhaps the sort of thing that Zuck wouldn't like. Couldn't undo the delete, it came up with error.

Disabled/hacked Attempted 3+ times on multiple devices and it keeps redirecting me back to the start.

Great thing to wake up to: no access to Messenger. It also has the profile outline in the wrong direction when I DO try to verify, leading me to have to contort my neck and move in the opposite direction it's asking. It goes "upload" "verifying" and back to this, though. Help?

Tech Support Can't change password and I don't understand why. It just loops me around.

My facebook account is logged into my phone. I don't know what the password is. I try and reset it and get so far as to actually enter a new password then get a notification that I can only do it from the Account Center, which I am in. Then if I try it again it says I've not been using my device long enough. I've had this phone for like a year.

If I try on desktop it gives me the same error and says to use a device I've used before, which is my phone, which does the above.

Any idea how to solve this loop of madness?

Disabled/hacked Facebook account disabled and I can't verify because I used a pseudonym - real ID rejected, no ID for nickname

Hey guys,

Account disabled for ID check. I used a pseudonym so I have no ID with that name.

Uploaded my real ID and asked to change my profile to my legal name. Got auto-rejected: "ID does not match Facebook name."

Stuck in a bot loop. No way to provide matching ID because pseudonym isn't my legal name. Need to explain this to a real human because the meta ai is useless!!

Anyone here got this fixed? Or knows how to... please help. I use this account for work and need it active again.

Discussion Has Facebook become a Human sexuality class? I have seen a ton or reels show up in my timeline that are very explicit.

• Upvotes

Is it me or is there all of a sudden a lot of sexual reproduction reels on Facebook? I didn't look anything up, but the algorithm has shown me more in 10 minutes then I ever had in sex Ed class. I don't care, just seems to be a big change.

Disabled/hacked My main personal account was permanently disabled for soc, It's the worst thing to be accused of, as it can ruin your life.

My main personal account was permanently disabled for soc, it didn't give me a reason why. It's the worst thing to be accused of, as it can ruin your life. Additionally, my main personal account was sending out ads that I never signed up for, all without my knowledge. I have never used a credit card or any card on Facebook, nor have I ever given anything financially since I joined. The only reason I know now is that Meta Business emailed me, stating that my Facebook account has been restricted from advertising. What's crazy is that before my account was disabled, I never received anything from Meta Business or any notifications about ads in my email ever. I searched my email just to make sure I only learned about it after my account was disabled. When I opened Facebook after being disabled, it initially stated I was suspended on October 15, October 16, and October 14. I screenshotted those dates, but it was actually October 15, 2026, when my account was suspended. And it finally got the date right. And a month Before my account was disabled, I was on Messenger trying to type my friend Megan's name. I got as far as "Mega" when a disturbing message popped up, stating that this may be associated with cse, you know what. I took a screenshot because that message appeared unexpectedly, something is definitely wrong with that AI it's not normal,it was making a disgusting accusation then too. I was just trying to type the name of a person who is 35 years old, someone I was trying to message on Messenger. On August 23, 2026, at 8:26 PM, Meta sent a login code to my email. Meta said if I did not try to log in, I should disregard the message, and that's what I did. However, I believe someone hacked me, and managed to get in some way.

Edit: A woman on TikTok said she was accused of CSE and had been Meta verified to get help. She spoke to a real person, but they were not allowed to access her Facebook account when she was accused of CSE, so they were locked out as well. She had to sue Meta to get her account back. What she is saying is that being Meta verified will not help if you are accused of SOC or CSE.

Tech Support “Page has some issues” ⛔️ How can I get rid of this warning? It doesn’t tell me how or what the problem is.

Facebook has a yellow ⛔️ symbol and says “Page has some issues. Your Page needs your attention. See how you can help fix any issues and prevent a restriction.” But I don’t see what the issue is. Can I get rid of it? How do I check what the problem is? It’s been like this for many months.

Discussion Author name cycling on posts from my groups that appear on my feed) FB mobile 583.0.0.39.55

FB mobile 583.0.0.39.55 This started a week or 10 days ago ill see a post and it has the group name across the top of the post and underneath it the time and visibility(little earth symbol)., then the time fades and the authors name appears for a brief period of time, then it cycle back to the time.
Its more than mildly annoying because, how i respond is author dependent, i dont need to add information for certain author because they already have or know it. (these are Animal/wildlife rescue groups wherein there is a mixed of really experienced folks and new folks asking questions
Additionally, i cannot click on the authors name , go to their profile to ,message them directly if indicated. Accessing FB form the web interface on PC does not seem to be affected by this.

Tech Support Boss's phone stolen in March, hacker changed Gmail recovery — Facebook demands "Verify with Google" as the ONLY option. Any way past this?

Posting on behalf of my boss, John Hu. His phone was stolen in March, and the thief got into his Gmail and changed all recovery info, so Google recovery is impossible. We have police reports from the local authority documenting the theft. His Facebook account (many years old) is tied to that Gmail.

What we've tried: - His old Facebook password still works — Facebook accepts it, then hits a mandatory checkpoint: "Log into your Google Account to confirm it's you." That's the ONLY option shown. No SMS, no code by email, no "try another way." - facebook.com/hacked finds the account, but then refuses to continue unless on a device he previously logged in on. None left (phone stolen), and no ID-upload step is offered anywhere.

Has anyone gotten past this? Is there any route to ID verification without a recognized device, or any way to get a human review of a hacked-account case? We have the police reports if Meta needs them. Thanks — not looking for "recovery agents," just real experiences.

Tech Support Facebook Android app still shows my old profile-picture and cover photo thumbnails, but Chrome shows the new photo correctly

I changed my Facebook profile picture and cover last night. The new photos appear correctly on my profile page in the app. In Chrome, it appears correctly everywhere, including the small thumbnails.

However, the Facebook app on my Samsung phone still shows my OLD picture:

Beside “What’s on your mind?”

In the bottom-right profile/menu icon

On the “Create story” tile

I’ve cleared the app’s cache, restarted my phone, and waited overnight. It’s still happening this morning.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to refresh the app’s thumbnails when the profile picture itself has already updated successfully?

Tech Support Has anyone actually gotten in touch with a real Meta support representative about an ad restriction?

Meta business portfolio was restricted from advertising without any clear explanation. I submitted an appeal, but it was rejected and marked as final, so I can't request another review.

Since then, I've officially registered my business, completed Meta business verification, and updated my account security settings. Unfortunately, nothing has changed.

My biggest issue is that I cannot get in contact with an actual human at Meta. I've tried Business Support, the Help Center, and pretty much every contact option I can find, but everything leads to automated responses or dead ends.

Has anyone successfully reached a live Meta representative about an advertising restriction? If so, HOW?

I'm also wondering if starting a new business portfolio is even an option while keeping my existing Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Any advice or firsthand experiences would be so appreciated. I just want to speak with someone who can actually help!

Discussion For Facebook plus subscribers! Will Facebook update the time stamp when someone rewatches your story?

Does Facebook plus update the timestamp on your viewer list when someone rewatches your story? I’m curious because it keeps showing old story’s as ones I haven’t watched yet. I’m annoyed. Someone please tell me if I’m overthinking this or not.
