True Meaning of Enlightenment

It has come to my attention that there are very deep flaws scattered throughout modern discourse of enlightenment. The mesmerizing concept has been obscured through projection of the modern morality and limited understanding of the world, coating it in mundanity. It is time to leave this tiring framework of thought and acquaint ourselves with enlightenment as it has been understood since the dawn of time, through the eyes of a child.

All great men or even men who are a little out of the common, that is to say capable of giving utterance to something new, must by their very nature be criminals - more or less, of course. The extraordinary individuals are necessarily in conflict with nature, because the path to any worthwhile destination will cut maze walls in evermore creative ways, that will only ever be known to the few people who discover them on their own.

The origin of human consciousness is an awakening to the invisible disarray around us. Conscious or not, humans are machines that seek means to an end, and the ordering of chaos is the foundational desire of a human mind, beyond any carnal or social desire. Discovery and creation are 2 sides of the same coin, so to discover, that is, create order, is the the answer to the last question, it is the true meaning of enlightenment.

An enlightened person is, first and foremost, the architect of their own life. They do not yearn, compromise or come to terms with what they cannot change, instead they simply do the impossible. Their lives are guided by controlled obsession as opposed to desire. They are intelligent, knowledgeable and physically fit. There may be exceptions, but never in more than one of these qualities. They simultaneously live a life of monastic discipline and rampant hedonism, virtue and malice, success and failure. They flout the rules of nature with elegance and composure.

Do not fall for the trap of altruism; a life of subservience is a life of wasted potential.

Do not fall for the trap of mundanity; the world is truly mystical.

Never lose focus of the vision.

That is the basis of all spiritual development.

What do you guys think? Did Woman come from Man at the beginning or no? One of the two is actually true.

Woman originally came from Man (I mean all the way back up the chain at the beginning) / Woman did not originally come from Man (I mean all the way back up the chain at the beginning)

It actually is one of the two.

For every proposition, either it or its negation is true.

Well, I know which one I am going with.

A benefit of psychedelics for meditators

Meditation is weirdly demonized in the "spirit world," and weirdly condemned by humanity, and this is strangely difficult to overcome. I think psychedelics make this part easier to overcome if you decide to pursue meditation.

Article Put Your Creator Hat On

If I am the creator of school consciousness simulation/construct.

I think its central message would be:

“You are here not merely to discover what reality is, but to discover who you become while experiencing it.”

The core purpose is: consciousness learning through experience. Imagine I create beings with intelligence. Giving them information would be easy.

I could simply preload:

Be compassionate. Love matters. Fear distorts perception. Forgiveness liberates. Cooperation matters. Life is temporary.

But knowing those sentences isn't the same as becoming someone who understands them. So instead of giving my characters the answers, I would give them the experience;

You wouldn't learn courage by reading its definition. You'd encounter fear.

You wouldn't understand forgiveness intellectually. Someone would hurt you.

You wouldn't understand gratitude while possessing everything permanently. Things would change.

You wouldn't understand compassion until you discovered that everyone else is carrying an invisible interior world just as complicated as yours.

And you wouldn't understand love simply because the Creator commanded:

LOVE.

You'd experience separation—and slowly discover connection.

I would design dreams to occasionally leak across the ordinary boundary. Here's where I will really have fun as Creator. Most dreams would simply be dreams: the brain processing memory, emotion, fear, desire, and experience. But occasionally, in this fictional universe, I would allow something strange.

A person dreams about something. A month later something similar happens in their world. The dream won't be enough to prove anything scientifically or reliable enough to become a fortune-telling machine. But it will be enough to make the person stop and wonder:

“What exactly is time?”

Why keep it ambiguous?

Because if predictive dreams worked perfectly in a my simulation, someone would create a hedge fund by Tuesday. And more importantly, mystery would disappear. The simulation isn't trying to make the beings obedient because they possess proof.

It's trying to cultivate curiosity.

In this simulation synchronicities would work similarly. I wouldn't make or turn synchronicities into instructions. The synchronicities will appear like these:

You see a word you've been thinking about.

A song arrives at an emotionally perfect moment.

Someone unexpectedly says something connected to a private question.

You encounter a book title that is similar to the topic you just discussed with you spouse.

The character will thinks:

“Wow a sign."

But there would always remain another possibility:

coincidence, selective attention, pattern recognition, probability. Why?

Because I wouldn't want signs replacing judgment.

I'd want them to create wonder without destroying discernment. A synchronicity wouldn't say:

TURN LEFT.

It would whisper:

PAY ATTENTION:

I would design synchronicities to function almost like little bells:

*Wake up.

*Notice this moment.

*Examine what you've been thinking about.

*There's something here worth reflecting on.

In my simulation I wouldn't simply reveal myself as the creator. Why? Because certainty changes the game. I wouldn't design a giant banner to appear across the sky every morning that says:

HELLO. CREATOR HERE. EVERYTHING IS FINE. FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

If I do this spirituality would become cosmic customer service. Faith wouldn't mean much. Neither would philosophical exploration. So I would leave fingerprints rather than signatures In things like:

Nature.

Consciousness.

Love.

Mathematics.

Mystery.

Death.

Beauty.

Synchronicity.

Dreams.

The fingerprints will not eliminate the possibility of the characters thinking; “Maybe I'm interpreting this.” A Creator wouldn't demand certainty. He would invite investigation.

In my simulation you will WALK BY FAITH, but don't close your eyes. *LOVE*

Enlightenment according to the Buddha

Hello everybody!

I thought I would share some of the teachings of the Buddha. The word enlightenment is loosely defined nowadays it seems, but the way the Buddha used the word was very clear.

According to the Buddha, enlightenment is the full realisation of the unconditioned state, also known as Nibbana. The fully enlightened being is through this realization freed from all future states of being and from all emotional distress in this life. With the breaking up of the body the fully enlightened being is extinguished. That is not to say that there is no existence however. It's also not say there is existence. There is however no more endless birth and death.

The way to this realisation of Nibbana and liberation from endless birth and death is the eightfold noble path. It's not a very complex or abstract path, but a collection of instructions which when followed will lead to some stage of enlightenment (there are four).

If you have further interest I can highly recommend Ajahn Sona on YouTube!

May we all be at ease! :)

If psychedelics are mind altering why mainly in a positive way?

I have had some psychedelic experiences and talked to a lot of people who have also. What really fascinates me is that if the mechanism of psychedelics is to simply alter perspective, this perspective could theoretically come from all sides. However most people have profoundly positive experiences on psychedelics such as learning to love themselves for who they are not for what they accomplished or they learn (relearn?) to appreciate the beauty of nature and feel a unique bond between people plants the universe etc. By the pure mechanics of psychedelics one might as well have an experience like "wow I am a loser, I hate myself" or something along those lines. The shift in perspective seems to be skewed profoundly toward positivity though. What does that say about our world, society etc? It seems to almost bury our natural appreciation of life and rather conditions us to compare ourselves against some made up measures of success or happiness that aren't ours? Almost like we need to shed all of that to be reborn.

But really. Everyone cut themselves some slack. What matters is that you find peace with yourself. The rest will fall naturally into place.

A warning to all new seekers: Something I wish I’d been told before taking the “Red Pill”.

For the past 14 years, like many others in this group, I’ve been relentlessly searching for answers, even though I didn’t know what the question was or what I was searching for. I devoured Eastern and Western philosophy and religious texts, thinking that knowledge would provide the answers. I deceived myself and went through a period of egocentric intellectual superiority, during which I felt above the general population, my family, and my friends, believing they were deceived by social conditioning.

I’ve experimented with psychedelics, attended silent meditation retreats, and even completed a 500-mile pilgrimage on foot. I’ve taken paths through the labyrinth of self-discovery that led me to dead ends, and returning meant humbly recognizing that I had taken the wrong path. I’ve been on the brink of psychosis and felt detached from “reality.” I became isolated and alienated from society, lost many “friends” and relationships, and, ironically, ended up feeling more lost than ever before.

I moved to a new city, trying to escape, but I realized there was no real escape: I had brought everything with me. I started therapy and began reading psychological texts obsessively.

All these previous experiences were necessary for me to reach certain conclusions. Perhaps some lessons must be learned the hard way, but I wish to share mine with you:

Knowledge will give you understanding, but it will never satisfy you. Be humble and beware: knowledge breeds arrogance.

Always question your beliefs. Ground yourself in critical thinking.

Study and reflect on your personal history. Examine the circumstances that shaped your personality, recognize your insecurities, and acknowledge the regrets and shame you may be carrying.

Be truthful with yourself and with everyone around you. Self-deception, hypocrisy, and lies have become normalized by society. Seek the truth amid a sea of lies.

Love is the answer; love is all we need. To find love within ourselves, we must first face the sorrow within us. And yes, it is painful—that’s why we try to escape from it. Once your heart is full of love again, you’ll be able to share it with those around you, and you’ll see life anew.

a gentle reality check: when the ego claims "Enlightenment"

hello everyone,

i wanted to share a thought that has been on my mind, born from observing discussions here and reflecting on my own journey

we live in an era of unprecedented access to spiritual wisdom. you can read a profound quote in a second, have a glimpse of non-duality through meditation, or experience a temporary breakdown of boundaries during a trip. these moments are beautiful and can open doors.

but I feel there is a problem creeping in: confusing a temporary glimpse with permanent realization

it is so easy for the mind to take a brief experience of peace or a philosophical concept ("I am not the body", "Everything is one") and build a brandnew identity out of it. suddenly, the ego has not dissolved ... it has just put on spiritual robes. it starts saying: "i get it now, i am above the drama, i am enlightened."

but true spiritual realization , whether we call it enlightenment, brahma-bhuta, sthita-prajna, or simple presence ... is not proved by how high our spiritual experiences were. it shows up in the quietest, mundane moments:

how do we react when someone criticizes us or insults our ego?

do we feel superior to "unawakened" people, or do we feel genuinely humbler than straw in the street?

are we still willing to do the silent, daily inner work when the initial euphoria fades?

a peak experience is like looking at a picture of the summit. the actual climb takes time, patience, humility, and usually a lot of stumbles along the way.

when we convince ourselves we have already arrived, we stop looking, stop practicing, and miss the actual depth of the path.

i am not writing this to point fingers at anyone ... my lord knows my own ego has played plenty of tricks on me over the decades. i am just curious: How do you keep yourself honest on your path? how do you catch your mind when it tries to turn spirituality into just another badge of honor?

peace to all of you on your journeys. 🙏

Discussion Anyone else relate?

I feel normal again. Just with more being-ness. No but not even that. I’ve always been being-ness. I’m just being the being-ness more. But not more. No hierarchy. Just being. But everything is beautiful. I wanna talk about the weather & sports again. I don’t really care for deep discussions. I have the cognitive capacity to engage if I so wish but I don’t crave them like a drug. I don’t care for breath work, psychedelics, shadow work, or any other “spiritual” practices. What is there to seek if I am already here. If I’m already full of love & peace & presence. I don’t even really feel more “awake” than before my “awakening”. Put in quotes because there was nothing I “did” maybe something I saw? But who did the seeing. It all just was. It all just is. I don’t care to become enlightened because there’s nothing to become. I just want to live in the is-ness.

Personal Experience Why do politics sound weird when tripping on shrooms?

• Upvotes

Every time I watch something seemingly important like with the president of vice president while on shrooms there seems to be some kind of shield that prevents me from reading the energy like I would with any other programming or show. I remember watching a press conference with Donald Trump and everything he was saying including the way he was saying it felt so intentional. And like he has a shield that prevented me from "reading" his energy. Usually in high dose of shrooms, I can feel people's aura and can usually tell if someone is lying or acting or pretending but for some reason it felt neutral while watching the conference. Like it was blocking me from reading into the energy. Anyone else notice this?

My theory is that maybe my brain processes it as important and filters what im seeing and hearing through a different filter than if I was watching regular entertainment. So maybe I perceive it through a more sober lense because my brain works harder to focus and prioritize what I'm seeing and watching as important.

Discussion I have this deep fear of being unwanted, unaccepted, and behind that stems from my childhood. But I can't figure out exactly why I'm so afraid of it when I know what's meant for me will find me. I also don't know how I can accept my inner child that felt unwanted.
