Good News/Recovery/Updates Lady Lemon and Knight Bundty nap sweetly, new home chosen

For those who have been following the tales of Lady Lemon and Knight Bundty through what has been a pretty horrible year, we have found what we think will be a nice home abroad while our hunt for a forever home continues.

Lady Lemon, of course, is far too busy with her beauty sleep to have regard for such trivial matters. Being as beautiful as she is, she needs a great deal of it… and for once, instead of standing guard, Knight Bundty tucked his bill in and caught a few zzzs as well.

Found Abandoned Duckling(s) Reacued little duckling from a fox - best way to care for her?

Post image
22 Upvotes

We were driving home and saw a fox trying to catch this baby. She didn't seem to have a mama or brothers around.

Currently have her in a large box with some old towels and a tray of water.

We have chickens and live near a river. But I don't want to let her go free so little and aline. We want to adopt her.

What's best to feed her before we can get duck consontrate?

For tonight we will leave her to settle, but any tips to make her feel less lonely. She's calling for her mama.

I think she is a Piche (whistling duck)

Maybe a boy. We're calling her Slippy.

Every time I see a duck I think, “that might be my favorite duck”. Problem is I can’t say that about every duck… or can I?

Behavior Questions Need advice!

So my boys have been quite territorial of the pond (and me but that's for another day)

I've set up a second clam pond, plus a few random rubs around so there is AMPLE water around but they still fight.

It doesn't matter which pond is being used by who, one of the boys will kick the other out.

It's to the point where they aren't really swimming anymore and I think it's because they don't like being beaten up 😞

I don't really know what to do but live in hope they stop bickering... ANY advice appreciated. I can't really seperate them singularly 😞

Photos for duck tax!

Feet/Legs/Walking Bumble foot or Callus

Post image

My runner Oliver has this small bump on her foot. I thought it was Bumblefoot but after seeing more pictures and descriptions I’m no so sure. The bump is soft and not hot to the touch. She also doesn’t flinch when I touch it. There’s nothing hard under it, either. It’s textured and flaky feeling. What do you think?

Found Domestic Duck(s) White duck with mallards?

Photo 1: Sorry about the blurry photo I was walking and when I returned the duck wasn’t there
Photo 2: These are the ducks I believe to be mallards!

Hi everyone! I am currently staying at a hotel resort in Hawaii and they have a few mini ponds and in the ponds there are lots of what I believe are mallards. I’m not sure if the resort put these ducks here, care for them, feed them and keep them safe but there’s about 50 female mallards from what I’ve gathered living in the resort or just outside of it in these ponds.

When I was walking I noticed one white duck sitting with these wild ducks. I saw on the internet that if you see a white duck that means it’s a domesticated duck and they cannot live on their own and need to be caught if you see one. If this is true what they say about white ducks should I bring this to animal control’s attention? This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this white duck around here and I don’t want anything to happen to any of the nice ducks around this resort so thank you for helping me!

Beginner's Question Weird thing

I was laying on the bench and had my black swedish who've we had for about 6 months on my stomach and I was playing with him by letting him bite my fingers, well he was turned to my right arm and was laying while holding onto my middle finger and pooped, I stopped and he then turned and faced his butt to me and I saw a white worm like coil with a yellow tint hanging out and it had ridges like an earthworm I lightly pinched it with my thumb and pointer and lifted it a little but then I felt a tug and it was sucked back in, idk if it was a parasite or something but I'm very concerned please help.

Beginner's Question Buff/ Orpington Duck question

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi friends! Curious if anyone else has noticed that their Orpington/ Buff ducks like the cold?? I tuck them in around 8pm every night and let them out in their outside enclosure around 5-8am every morning. It’s been about 30-40 degrees at night and every time I open their gate to let them out, they come out feathers a blazin!
I know they are more cold tolerant, but I’m curious if they will be ok in the Ohio cold when it gets to be 10-20 degrees? I know they are rough creatures and they won’t need too much supplemental heat, but I’m also trying to plan for the -20 nights

Eggs/Incubation/Hatching Getting ducks to have babies?

My ducks are laying now, they are 9 months, the all lay in the same nest box, if I wanted to let them brood and hatch babies, how do I do that? Do ducks have the instant to brood and hatch babies? What age does this happen? There are other nest boxes in the coop, but they seem to all like just one of them, they also do not seem interested in sitting on the eggs. How do you let your ducks have banies?

So over the weekend I saw that one of the wild mallards I go and feed has done something to her leg and I’m just wondering how/what she’s done, there’s also a male who did something similar in 2022 so I’m just confused as to what’s happened. This was the best picture I could get of her today, sorry if it’s not much help.

Worried Duck Mom hurt duckling

I believe my duckling may have broke it's leg (hurt leg in image 1 image two is the other leg)
She (I believe it's a she) unfortunately jumped of me (I think she was the one who jumped off me? I thought it was the male that had jumped off me but I'm now now sure) and I didn't realise till I got them back to my room that she hurt her leg.
She isn't moving much and is not putting pressure on her leg at all. And as the image shows. It's very swollen.
I can't get to the vet till tomorrow as it's a hour away and I'm under 18 without my open drivers license and no car able to get there.

Sex: Female?
Age: about 2 weeks old
Breed: Pekin
Injury : possible broke leg or dislocated leg
Keept indoors as they are so young
Not spoken to vet.
Not tried anything as I don't want to make it worse.
She hasn't eaten or drunk yet but before the incident happened they had just had a massive big swim in the little pond. Which is when she last ate aswell
