Discussion Has anyone listened to Walt Disney Records: The Legacy Collection?

They are a series of CDs/soundtracks that are remastered and expanded versions of movie soundtracks that were released to commemorate anniversaries of Disney films.

I love the original artwork that they’ve made and songs, especially the isolated scores (love every detail!), and also the deleted songs!

I hope/wish they do more of them.

I could listen to them all day/every day!

I hope they do Hercules next.

My Favorites are:

Toy Story
The Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
Pocahontas
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Lady and the Tramp
The Aristocats
Sleeping Beauty
Cinderella
Mary Poppins

The hit movie everyone forgot about!

I do love Disney - it has so many beautiful movies. The princess stories are timeless - and they deserve it, but i feel like my total favorite movie from Disney ever has been forgotten - Meet the Robinsons.

It was a hit for a year or two where i lived, and then vanished off of Earth. The plot was unique, something most kids stories dont have anymore because the plots are similiar. What about you-? Did you love this movie? Do you perchance still watch it? <3

Disney Merchandise Disney Heroes update - the actual figures

Here's the follow up post regarding the Disney Heroes action figures from 2005. Based on designs by Disney animator Ruben Procopio (you can see the concept art in my last post on here!) After a year of digging through eBay and even a lucky find at a thrift store, I have the original set at last! Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Hercules, Prince Phillip and Maleficent in her dragon form! I love these figures and I'm probably going to get a display case to preserve them in. Here is my breakdown and my thoughts.

Peter Pan - One of my favorite Disney characters growing up, but not my favorite figure in the line. His signature weapon, his dagger, is actually molded onto his body. His accessories are a bow, and quiver full of arrows, and... a domino mask? Perhaps he's become a vigilante in a dystopian Neverland. He has a rather... demonic expression as well. I think the gloves and boots are a cool touch.

Captain Hook - He looks like a serious threat! Need I say more about that Hook?! It looks like a medieval torture device! And that cutlass! His only other accessory is his giant hat which is removable. I love that his face actually looks very similar to his animated counterpart! The flowing coat is beautifully painted and sculpted.

Hercules - He looks like He-Man! I love that the colors are very similar to his look in the film. The cape is a molded plastic piece. Live his long hair and serious expression. I'm really impressed with how Ruben Procopio was able to translate his tunic into armor. The chest swirls are there and so is the Zeus symbol in his belt. He comes with two accessories. His 7 inch Buster Sword sized xiphos, and a shield with a sculpted lion face! Herc is both intimidating and heroic looking!

Prince Phillip - This is my favorite figure in the entire line! Technically he has 4 accessories. The broad sword complete with a chain, I'm surprised that that was actually translated from the concept art. A beautifully molded shield. A scabbard. And a red helmet with a golden eagle that sits snug on his head. He also has a eagle emblem on his torso and embedded in his shield. I don't think he was ever associated with this imagery in the original film, but it looks so good and knight-like on his figure. He doesn't have the strongest knees but I absolutely love looking at the figure alongside the others. . His figure most of all makes me wish someday Disney would consider doing "Disney Heroes" again and not just something like MirrorVerse.

Maleficent Dragon - Honestly... it's dragon Maleficent straight from the film. No redesign. She has a button between her wings that makes her roasr. Other than that, she's clearly the most "playable" figure in the line.

This is probably one of my favorite niche collections I own and I'm so happy to have them. I'm also a little melancholy knowing we were this close to having Beast, Aladdin and Tarzan in this style. I hope Ruben Procopio knows that people still talk about these 20 year old figures.

Question question about Disney Press hardcover books from the 90s

Hello everyone!

I remember I had in the 90s two big hardcovers, Pocahontas and The Lion King, that seemed to belong in the same series. Both were adapted by Gina Ingoglia. I loved the books' design and the artwork. I recently found and rebought Pocahontas and I am looking for The Lion King and I was wondering if there are more titles in the exact same series. It's a bit hard to find info online, a bit chaotic, so many editions and book formats, so I thought asking here was a good idea.

Please check both photos to see what I mean.

Thanks for your time!

Discussion Disney Heroes - What could have been.

Thumbnail
gallery
1.1k Upvotes

I've recently been able to track down and collect the 2005 Disney Store exclusive line of action figures called Disney Heroes (pics of the figures coming soon)! Does any one remember these? And actually, this franchise goes back to 1999. Around the release of Tarzan, Disney launched a line of toys and products under the name Disney Adventurers.

The line consisted of Hercules, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Tarzan and Captain Hook. It seems that it was intended to be the "boy equivalent" to the at the time brand new "Disney Princesses" franchise. Focusing on adventure, weapons, action figures. And I've seen beach towels, lunch boxes and some merchandise with this branding. The characters in Adventurers had no design update whatsoever. It was the characters as they appeared in their respective films.

Around 2003, Disney Adventurers was rebranded into Disney Heroes. Perhaps they thought the word Heroes was more appealing to young boys? There was a new line of Disney Store exclusive action figures, now with light up chests. Returning from Adventurers we had Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Hercules and Tarzan. Joining the line up were Prince Phillip and Shang. I always thought it was strange that Aladdin was absent. But the franchise was branching out into toys and playsets from European toy maker Famosa based on the Heroes' worlds including Robin Hood and The Sword in the Stone.

But in late 2004, perhaps the brand was doing well enough, or Disney thought it needed to do better? But they had animator Ruben Procopio design brand new action figures to be raised in 2005. And... wow. I remember seeing these on the Internet as a kid. I don't know how I found them, but I remember thinking it looked as if the Disney Heroes figures I saw as a toddler belonged in the original Zelda, and these new figures belonged in Twilight Princess. They were ahead of their time in my opinion. I'll let the concept art speak for itself.

Only 5 figures were produced for the Disney Store and released in the Summer of 2005. Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Hercules, Prince Phillip and Maleficent in her dragon form.

Procopio later revealed on his blog that he was drawing concept art for a second wave that was never produced. Beast, Aladdin and Tarzan were among the concept art he revealed. With lots of work being done with the Beast including a clay sculpt of what the final figure might have looked like.

I feel like some things like Disney Mirrorverse continued this idea of dark and edgy versions of Disney characters. But to see that they tried this out in 2005 is so crazy to me. And while I'm an adult now and can have the produced figures in my office, I feel nostalgic, happy and a bit melancholy knowing that the Beast and others should've shared the space on my shelf with the others.

Does anyone else remember or own any Disney Heroes? What would the 2nd and 3rd wave have looked like? What if this brand was as successful as Disney Princesses? And who would you liked to have seen get the Procopio Disney Heroes treatment?

Edit: Thanks so much everyone for all the comments and conversations! I did not expect this post to get this many views! I'm uploading pics of the produced figures and they should be up tomorrow (once the mods give it the okay).

Discussion Tangled Should Have Not Been PG

If the movie was live-action, it would have been PG-13. Characters are gagged and chained, and also sentenced to hanging and also stabbed with blood shown. The villain is too scary because she doesn't have any of her own powers to hurt the main characters.
