Interviews An anonymous AI interviewer that helps you prepare for your interview

• Upvotes

Hey guys,

After a stress full week, I thought to utilize claude tokens on a take home assignment I did a year back.

I think, it's now come up to a hmm level from meh. I didn't invest a single penny (apart from my time). The models that are being used are free apart from everything else.

I don't expect many people to try out the website, but I did implement per user token limit (I hope it is generous).

You don't have to sign up, if you want to save your history, you can use a passkey (top-right icon).

All you have to do is, upload your resume and enter the job description (software engineer in google or anything). It fetches some details from the company repository and then asks level of the interview (junior, mid, senior). And then you can get started.

It works in 2 ways, one is coach mode and the other is mock mode. In coach mode, for every interviewer's question, you can ask the coach about how to answer the correctly or what was wrong in your answer or something like that. In mock mode, it's just questions and answers and at the end it gives you a score.

I haven't included voice support as of now because I find the text mode much better.

If you have some time to spare, pls feel free to play around with this app. Pls don't abuse the tokens 🥲, and pls don't mind vercel's serverless cold starts.

General I made a script to keep your Macbook Pro awake with the lid closed (like Macbook Airs!)

• Upvotes

Hey guys,

Something that annoyed me with Macbook Pros was that it didn't let me close the lid and watch my movies while screen mirroring or airplaying. So I created a script that fixes that.

It works on silicon macs and it auto-detects any media playing on your device. Then it deploys a thermal pressure monitor to make sure your mac doesn't overheat while it's closed.

Give it a try and let me know your thoughts/concerns!

General Is it worth getting into software development as a fresher right now?

• Upvotes

I talked to some developers, and they said there's basically no scope in software development for juniors right now because AI does all the work that is usually assigned to juniors. Is that true or just overly blown out of proportion? Is it possible to get into development as a junior if you aren't exceptionally good right now?

General I'm a 3rd-year LLB student trying to get into software development. Is it actually possible without a completed tech degree?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone, I need some genuine advice from people working in tech.

I'm currently in my 3rd year of LLB. I got interested in technology after studying cyber law, which led me to learn Java and Spring Boot.

So far, I've learned Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Spring Security, JWT, MySQL, JPA/Hibernate, Maven, Git/GitHub, and Kafka. I've built a few projects with AI assistance, implemented security and APIs, learned basic system design, and solved around 50 LeetCode problems.

The catch is that I studied BTech but left in my 3rd year, so I don't have a completed technical degree.

I'm genuinely interested in software development and want to build my career in it. But whenever I struggle with DSA, I start wondering whether all this effort will even pay off if companies reject me because of my degree.

I know some companies have strict eligibility criteria, but do I realistically have a chance at Java backend or SDE-1 roles in India? Should I focus on startups and smaller companies first?

I'm willing to grind harder and improve my skills, but I don't want to spend another year going in the wrong direction.

Please be honest. I'm not looking for fake motivation, just practical advice from people who understand the industry.

TL;DR: 3rd-year LLB student, incomplete BTech, Java Spring Boot skills, a few projects, Kafka, basic system design, and 50 LeetCode problems. Can I realistically get a developer job in India, or will my degree situation be a major roadblock?

Help My company is asking us to resign when laying us off. What should I do?

• Upvotes

My company is terminating my role due to business restructuring. The reason is termination of the role due to business restructuring and redundancy (and ofcourse AI). But they are also providing option to Voluntary resignation. For this company will provide some compensation amount. I am a recent graduate and this was my first company, and I’d only recently started working here transitioning from intern. Work experience is less than a year(including internship).

My questions:
1. Does redundancy negatively affect background verification or future hiring compared with resignation?
2. Which option looks better on a Job profile and during interviews?
3. Could voluntary resignation create problems if a future employer asks why I left?
4. Any similar experiences?

I'd appreciate advice from people who have handled HR, recruitment, or similar employment situations.

I Made This I have created a Chrome extension that would make your Reddit UI function like old.reddit.com

• Upvotes

https://reddit.com/link/1x8bc4y/video/wstvii3zc1wh1/player

With all the recent developments, Reddit will eventually sunset old.reddit.com.

Some of us power users will miss it badly. So I made a Chrome extension which would not only make the new Reddit UI feel like old.reddit.com but it would also allow some of it's functionalities on this new Reddit UI. The extension is available here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/orib/knaoadjobmjpgedlmdjpadlfdldcoanf

Full disclosure, I took help from Cursor in creating this since I don't know JS that well. So I know that you are thinking about your privacy, I would too. So I have made the extension free and open-source. The code is available here: https://github.com/rajtilakjee/orib

Career Career Advice: Back in India after 8 months off from USA. What level should I be targeting?

• Upvotes

Moved back from the US a while ago and took about 8 months off for family stuff. Things are finally sorted, so I'm getting ready to job hunt again and I'm a bit unsure where to aim.
Quick background: 8 years in Python and Java, and the last 2 mostly in AI/ML.
Where I'm stuck is levels. Would I be looking at L3/L4 at the big product companies or SDE 3/4 at Amazon-type places? Titles seem to map really differently here than in the US, so I don't want to under-sell myself or aim too high.

If you've made the same move or sit on the hiring side, I'd love to hear what worked. Happy to share more details over DM.
Thanks!

Career 5.5 LPA WFH vs 14 LPA in Mumbai - What would you choose with 1+ YOE?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm at a career crossroads and would appreciate some honest advice from people who've been in a similar situation.

Here's my situation:

- Current CTC: ₹5.5 LPA

- New offer: ₹14 LPA

- Experience: 1+ year

- Current company: Remote work, good work culture, comfortable environment, and a decent work-life balance.

- New company: Mumbai-based role that requires relocation, but seems to offer better technical exposure.

My current company is trying to retain me and is willing to increase my compensation to around ₹8–9 LPA at most. So, staying would mean keeping the comfort of remote work and a familiar environment, but accepting a significantly lower salary than the external offer.

On the other hand, moving to Mumbai would mean a higher cost of living, rent, commuting, and adjusting to a new work culture. However, the ₹14 LPA offer is a substantial jump, and I feel the new role could help me grow faster professionally.

I'm trying to look beyond just the immediate salary and think about where I'll be in the next 2–3 years.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on a few things:

  1. With 1+ YOE, would you take ₹14 LPA in Mumbai over ₹8–9 LPA with remote work?

  2. After accounting for Mumbai's rent and living expenses, is the difference still significant enough to justify relocating?

  3. How much should I value a comfortable work culture and remote flexibility at this stage of my career?

  4. Would you prioritize higher compensation and potentially better technical exposure early in your career, even if it means leaving a comfortable job?

  5. If you've made a similar switch, did it help your career in the long run?

I'm not looking for a simple “always take the higher package” answer. I'd genuinely appreciate perspectives from people who've experienced both sides.

What would you do in my position, and why ?

Resume Review Fellow devs, Please Scrutinize My Resume! Not getting shortlisted anywhere

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I have 1 year of experience at a big networking product-based company as an SDET Apprentice (not as SDE or SDE Intern). I have been applying for SDE and SDET roles for the past 4 months, but I am not getting shortlisted anywhere.

I have applied to many companies, but I am barely getting any responses. I am not sure if there is something wrong with my resume or if the job market is just bad right now.

Could you please review my resume and point out what I need to improve? Any honest feedback would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

College Placements Just a confession about my placement journey and market situation

• Upvotes

I am here to confess.

I am a 2025 BTech grad from a tier 3 college. I got placed in one of the top 10 service-based IT companies in India in September 2024 for their cute little salary, but I was very excited. Previously, I tried getting an internship, but I could not land one anywhere, so this was a very big achievement for me. A guy who couldn't get an internship got placed in an MNC, first in his department. I was very happy.

Days and months passed. No updates.

I tried many companies. I tried Cognizant. During the coding round, my poor old second-hand laptop didn't work in the middle. I couldn't complete the round. I raised mails, called the support team, explained my situation, but nothing worked. After that, they mailed again, saying they would interview me for another role. Got selected in that (mail came after 6 months). Got excited again. Onboarding was on my birthday, then, due to some background issue, some name mismatch in PAN and offer letter, the offer was revoked, and they went completely ghosted.

Then came IBM. Did well in the coding round. 2 questions: 1 passed all test cases, another question failed only 2 test cases out of 15. Didn't get another round mail. Then suddenly, in a Telegram group, one random guy said he went to another round. He cleared one question completely, but in another question, only 3 cases were passed for him. Don't know why he got into the next round but I didn't.

Then came Virtusa. I did aptitude, coding round 1, coding round 2, and communication round. All I did well, but I wasn't moved further. They hired on a first-come, first-served basis. I found out by asking a few peeps in Telegram. Even though I did well and completed all the coding questions, guys who did only 2 or 3 coding questions were moved to the next round just because they completed the communication round before me.

Then came Accenture. Passed all their rounds continuously, then, due to their stupid exam platform issue, I couldn't enter the coding round. I was waiting in the lobby for 3 hours. I passed and moved forward but couldn't enter there. I raised queries, sent emails, called the support team. They rescheduled my coding round. Cleared it, cleared the interview, received a congrats mail, but after that, complete silence.

On the side, I was giving my everything for Zoho. Completed 3 rounds, waiting, thinking to myself, this time I will definitely get that Zoho offer, but instead received a mail that hiring was frozen.

Tried startups, but all they offered was 2 to 2.5 LPA with a 3-year bond. I didn't join there.

I was also doing an internship at that time. The manager was shit, but I bore with it. They offered a very good package for freshers, but when I asked about it, they said they had just hired freshers and couldn't hire me now. After the project was completed, I was left out, even though I gave my best there.

There are a few companies where, if I had prepared well, I would have gotten in, but I didn't because of me. I will accept that. But there are others which had nothing to do with me. I didn't make any mistake. Why me? I asked myself.

Then got into one of Infosys' subsidiary company. I wasn't happy, but I had to in this market.

Job commute is long, daily wasting 4 to 5 hours travelling. Pay is not much, tech stack is old, maintenance job, daily getting drained the shit out of me. Can't enjoy what I have, can't leave because of all the things that happened to me.

But due to the current market conditions and things that personally happened to me during my job search, I accepted it.

Don't know what to do. Just a confession from your fellow so-called future of Indian youth.

I Made This [Project] I built a "Vercel for indie game devs" using webassembly. Ship your PC indie games on a browser and make controls UI for mobile and control button mappings for Mobile. It also has a ebpf based profiler to help devs.

I built a "Vercel for indie game devs": Godot/Unity/Bevy games running in the browser, even on a phone

TL;DR: Vapour is a browser-native game platform with a CLI, mobile touch-control mapping and a profiler, so Godot, Unity and Bevy games can be built, tested and published to run in Chrome, even on an Android phone, with no download.

A couple of days ago I saw GTA 5 running in a browser. It was janky, but it proved WebAssembly can run games that were never meant for the web. That's what got me to start Vapour.

To test it I used a game I'd already made, Summit Run: Ladakh, an off-road jeep game in Godot. It was never designed for the web. Now it runs in Chrome on my Android phone:

-> https://vapour-web-637456171586.asia-south1.run.app/games/ladakh-hills

Mobile controls

Most indie games assume a keyboard and mouse. In vapour.toml you set the orientation and render scale, then pick a controller mode:

  • keyboard-map: on-screen buttons and a joystick fire the same key events your game already handles. Ladakh works like this, with no changes to the game code.
  • dedicated: you define actions instead of keys.

The CLI can validate and preview the layout. The on-device overlay is still a preview, so expect rough edges.

Profiler

Browser games break differently from native ones: Wasm memory, GPU-bound phones, frame spikes. vapour test runs your build locally with an FPS overlay, and on Linux it can launch a browser with the profiler dashboard attached and save a report. There's also a phone-style preview so you can check mobile before publishing. The profiler is early and Linux-only for now.

Toolchain

The CLI handles create, build, test and publish from the terminal. It also has a Claude Code skill:

sh vapour skill install

Where things stand: CLI v0.1.1 is out, signed publish and verify are in preview, review/approval is planned, and telemetry is early.

What I'd like from you

  • Try the game on your phone and tell me what breaks (device, browser, FPS)
  • If you've shipped a Godot or Unity web build, what hurt the most?
  • What would you want from a mobile controls mapper?

Brutal feedback welcomed :)

Help Need guidance from Java Senior Backend Developer .

By god grace I landed into a startup like company ( old company but less than 15 employee).
My work is primarily Java backend(springboot) and little frontend with NextJS.
Need to work adding new features and maintain code on ERP products.

I do understand the code and they allow AI assist code.
Problem is I find that I am doing most of my work with AI. I don't feel like learning. If I try to write code with hands , it will take more time.

My goal is to become great at backend enough that I won't need AI if AI bubble pop.

What should I focus on ?
what should I learn down the road in 2 yr time.
What would you expect from Java full stack from 2-3 yr exp.

note: pay is peanuts but I am more for learning.

Suggestions Synechron (32 LPA) vs Genpact (35 LPA) for Data Engineer, Bangalore. 5 years experience Which would you pick?

Hi all, I need some advice choosing between two offers.

About me: Data Engineer with 5 years of experience in Spark and Scala, currently working at a bank on 20 LPA fixed.

Offer 1: Synechron
- Role: Data Engineer
- CTC: 32 LPA fixed
- Location: Bangalore, hybrid

Offer 2: Genpact
- Role: Data Engineer
- CTC: 35 LPA fixed
- Location: Bangalore, hybrid

Both are hybrid and in Bangalore, so the difference is mainly the 3 LPA and the company.

For anyone who has worked at either one:
1. How is the work culture and work-life balance?
2. How are appraisals, hikes and job stability?

Thanks in advance!

Interviews Coinbase Machine Learning Engineer (IC4) Interview Experience – Bangalore

I recently interviewed for a Machine Learning Engineer (IC4) role at Coinbase in Bangalore through a referral. Here is my experience.

My background:

  • 2.5 years of experience at a product startup

Online assessment
First, there was an online psychometric and reasoning test, followed by a recruiter call.

Then came a CodeSignal assessment with three coding questions:

  • A simple DSA problem
  • Implementing bagging (bootstrap aggregation)
  • Implementing Naive Bayes from scratch using only NumPy

Domain round
This round covered basic ML concepts and coding. I had to implement gradient descent for linear regression and answer questions about loss functions, parameter initialization, and batch vs. stochastic gradient descent.

There was also a SQL section, which was honestly my weakest part. I rarely use SQL, so I struggled quite a bit with the queries. An AI assistant was available for checking syntax, but you could not use it to generate the entire solution.

Tech Execution round
This was a practical ML problem. We were given a heavily imbalanced fraud detection dataset in CSV format with more than 45 features. The task was to build a model and justify the decisions around feature selection, missing values, class imbalance, and train-test splitting.

Behavioral round
The hiring manager asked about my previous projects, professional experience, why I wanted to join Coinbase, and a project I was particularly proud of.

Career Feeling a little lost early in my career. Would appreciate some advice.

Hey everyone, I'm a recent graduate working as a software engineer. tbh grateful for where I am financially but lately I've been questioning whether I'm growing enough technically.

I'm working in an early age startup, doing a mix of frontend and backend work(even though i am primarily a backend engineer) including building a Java Spring Boot microservice. The work is interesting but there's limited technical mentorship and I often have to figure things out myself. Also I feel there is no good technical review , mentorship sth. Even I feel excluded from people in my team like not able to connect with anyone tbh.

The bigger concern is work-life balance. 9-10 hours everyday work ,sometime weekends(lol ig everytime), leaving me with little time to learn, pursue hobbies or spend time with family.

I want to become a strong engineer but I also want a life outside work.

I am also much dependent on claude now due to tight deadlines/expectations, I sometimes don't even see the code just see if it's working or not. I know I am in a bad situation but what to do? please someone help me out

For people who've been in the industry longer, how do you decide whether to be patient and grow in your current role or look for a better environment?

Like currently in an early age startup but in future(after 1 year hopefully) want to be in good product based company with good work life balance.

Tech stack: java,spring,python, AI side - Langchain,Langraph,RAG, react(basics)

Tips Job Application Automation | Auto Job Apply | Tools

I am particularly interested in the practical side of this Application automation: What parts of your workflow have you successfully automated without compromising application quality? Have you built any useful scripts, agents, or personal tools to discover relevant openings, track applications, or customise resumes? How have you done it? what are the tools you made and what are the tricks working for you in this job market.

Are there any tricks honestly?? Or you just apply apply appply and applyyyy???

lets share anything that can work
