I Made This Developed an android app for expense tracking for myself and ended up developing full scale retirement planning tool in completely secured system

Myself and my wife used to track all the expenses and assets in google sheet, it was very helpful but it become a pain in creating entries from mobile phone on the go. Also faced difficulties in handling different currencies and there was a gap in few aspects like monthly reports comparing with previous month to improve. In market plenty of tools available but privacy was a big concern, if there is an offline tool with privacy, it is not helpful for tracking both of our family members in one place, there are some tools avaialble but have to pay subscription to use all the features.

Two things were clear from beginning.

  1. Privacy first
  2. No AI involved as everything can be calculated with arithmetic logics(Main concern is cost and unnecessary impact to environment)

Motto: Everyone deserves retirement

Language: Flutter

services: Google services

So i have decided to build my own for us using the advantage if AI( I am a mainframe developer, so not having any front end experience)and started building one with googlesheet as backend, no server side database to store financial information. When I start adding small features, I see a large scope for improving the app, especially for indian families to improve financial lieracy. I am happy with the performance and final outcome, however not satisfied with the UX Flow yet and improving it day by day.Screenshot data are mocked data.

Below are the features it currently has, open for discussion if you see any gaps or improvements required.

  1. Google sheet as backend, no financial data reaches the server and family mode is possible with google sheet sharing feature.(faced lot if challenges wrt quota limits)
  2. Notification listener based trasaction logging - review and log with left right swipes. you can tracknall your bank transaction without missing anything as we have month end reconciliation which tells if there are any gaps. also each transaction shows the positive and negative impact on your retiremnt. It also supports multi currency and do forex conversion with google sheets conversion rates(not supported in iOS, so have to think of an alternate)
  3. Retirement planner - with auto goal creation for 15 WHAT IF cases like( what if I buy a home in X year, what if there is a new born in Y year, if I switch jobs every N year with Z% increment). It is completely a complex arithmetic engine, may need improvement if there is any issue found.
  4. Cart Detoxer - To avoid impulse buying , put the product in cart detoxer and lock it for 21 days. Answer simple question to decide whether it is a NEED or WANT.
  5. Kids profile - App supports fingerprint login. If the user logs in with fingerprint it opens in parent mode and child can login only with App pin code(different from mobile pin) to see their JARs, where they can do track chors and get the allowance from parents upon their approval. Also there are challenges and lessons for kids to understand money, compounding, risks and different investements.
  6. IOU unit - to track outside family transaction. We tend to get a call from friend and ask for money or sometime we may require a quick money to borrow from someone. We have add optin mobile number based IOU system where it will show how many times borrow and return happened and if there are any misses in deadline. So when someone request money via iou unit, we will see there past records as a overview to decide whether to lend money or not.
  7. CAS import - import your CAS statements monthly once to track all your stocks, mutual funds and bonds in one place.
  8. Loan payoff planner - helps you tracking your loans and tell best way to pay it back and tell which one is good loan and which one is bad.
  9. Goal - track all your short term and long term goals linked to your day to day transaction and retirement planning live.
  10. Reports - Daily recap, weekly review cards, Monthly report, quarterly report and annual report to see and compare ourself with previous timelines. it is available for both personal and family level
  11. Insurance module - identifies the gaps in health insurance, term insurance and vehicle insurances. Have checklists to get most relevant health insurance. It calculates term insurance based on your retirement goal and tell the impact. you can share the encrypted handover to your family with all the details as they need it if something happens to you.
  12. Tax module - in progress module to tell which regime is best and what are some best practices in tax saving and tax harvesting. working on Tax module for NRI to handle LRS .

11:Multiple tools to make decision Eg: Buy vs rent tool, Fund rebalancing alert tool

Features in pipeline: App currently supports OCR receipt scanning in phone. Users can OPT-IN to share the product details and it will be stored in server(not linked to any users, anonymous data of product , price and shop name) planning to create a fair price module to see the same product where it is available in your local for less price with the community pooled data to save more money and retire earlier.

Need help if anyone is familiar with OCR handling for indian receipts. Currently using google ML kit in-phone to extract receipt data, but not reliable or stable yet.

There are 8 category of pool data where you can share annonymosed aggregated data to community and get the peer comparison with similar income families and see how your savings rate , expenses comparing to other similar families. Long way to go

App doesn't endorse any product or funds. We never sell anonymus pool data. App is for educational purpose to make people more financially aware and tracking purpose. we adhere to SEBI, RBI , IRDAI guidelines.

App is currently available in playstore for free. No subscription. if it goes well I will work on IOS build.

Resume Review How is my resume as a pre-15yo based on experience? Too disappointing?

• Upvotes

Hey Guys!
I am an *almost* 15 year old student, from India. Got into tech, especially Software Engineering from early age. Paid work since almost 2.5 years, and doing programming for almost 6 years.
Founded 2 things (a SaaS & a Crypto) - both yet not successful, but taught me a lot of relating knowledge, from planning, research, analysis to sales, marketing, growth to design, branding and ui/ux.
You can see all my work experience, in above pictures....
My github is not tidy, but: https://github.com/clastro2024
and medium: https://medium.com/@clastron

Earned about $2000 until now.

So how is my resume? Is it great? What should I focus on next?
Willing to learn more and new things, and especially "delve" (not ai-written) into robotics and related.
Bored of tradition societal norms and rat races - want to do something of my own, maybe build something or run own company....
*maybe even looking for a great paid job for now*
Thank Youuu!

Suggestions How do I keep my job search private from colleagues and people around me

I’m preparing for a job switch, but I want to keep the entire process private. Whenever HR calls me, I end up discussing interview schedules and updates with hr and everyone starts noticing and commenting that I’m getting calls, asking questions, or giving unnecessary opinions.

At my current company, many people are leaving because the work environment isn’t good, which makes me even more conscious about my next move.

How can I handle HR calls discreetly, keep my interview plans and job search completely private, and avoid letting colleagues or people around me know what’s happening until I actually secure an offer? I want to work on my career without unnecessary attention, pressure, or interference

How should this be handled or what u have done in your case ?

Course Review My review to tutedude for Data Engineering course.

To be honest, I’ve completed the Data Engineering course from Tutedude, and I feel it covers all the basic points needed to make a good start. The content is explained in simple language, and it’s also quite affordable. By using a referral code, you can get ₹200 off, and the person whose code you use will also get ₹200 off their next course.

Here’s my referral code: **tYOOgTDZ**

If you’d like, you can use it so that both of us get ₹200 off. I received ₹400 through referrals, which I used to buy a Python course. I’d really appreciate it if you use my code so you can get a discount, and I can receive ₹100 as well.

I Made This I built an Aadhaar validation API you can use in your apps and software.

Post image
0 Upvotes

So whether you're building fintech onboarding, managing HR and payroll records, handling seller or partnership registrations on a commerce platform, or performing bulk cleanup of Aadhaar numbers in a database, you need a reliable check for Aadhaar validation

Support teams and admin dashboards can also use the same API call to verify a number before adding a record.

I am Nikolas, co-founder at Apyhub, and we recently created an Aadhaar validation API along with 400 other utility tools that you can use. The key point is that it doesn't connect to UIDAI or confirm the number belongs to the person submitting it.

The service is simple, free to start, and includes an MCP so you can use it with your agents.

Feel free to try it and use it with your projects, and let me know your feedback; happy to answer any questions in the comments.

I Made This Built an AI humanizer that runs its own fine-tuned 7B model and won't change your facts

Sharing a side project I've been building: Penned, an AI humanizer plus AI detector. https://penned-ai.vercel.app

The problem I wanted to solve: most humanizers get your text past detectors by quietly changing it. "72.30%" becomes "72%", a citation moves to the wrong sentence, someone else's result turns into "we found". For anything factual, like a research paper, that's worse than being flagged.

How it works:

- Rewriting runs on its own fine-tuned model (LoRA on Qwen2.5-7B), not a ChatGPT prompt. It writes several drafts per paragraph.

- Drafts are scored by open-source detectors plus a small checker trained on GPTZero-labelled text, since the open detectors and GPTZero often disagree.

- Every draft is then fact-checked: code compares numbers, units, counts and names with your original, and a second model fixes anything that changed with small edits.

- Stack: Next.js, Firebase auth, FastAPI on GPU servers.

Results so far: a 16-page research paper scored under 20% AI on Turnitin, and a Gemini-written abstract went from 100% to 4% on GPTZero.

Because of the multiple drafts and the fact check, a rewrite takes 1 to 3 minutes rather than a few seconds. That's the trade-off for not touching your facts.

It's free: 6,000 words a day with Google sign-in, and the AI detector works without signing in. There's also a free API.

Would love to hear what you'd use it for, and what you'd want added next.

Help Help needed | Should I relocate to GB or stay here?

Recently I got an offer from London based mid-size org with salary ~79K GBP.

YOE = 4.5, tier 1.5 (non-circuital branch)

I am roughly making 40+LPA (Remote, all Cash and with ESOPs it's ~ 50+LPA).

I have another offer with comp ~60LPA (All cash, BLR).

I feel like salary wise it's compromise but work seems interesting.

Would appreciate honest perspectives and advice, especially from those who have walked a similar path and made these choices themselves.

Career Can an IT career abroad beat the lifestyle of a Class 1 officer in India?

Is working as a software developer abroad better than being a Class 1 government officer in India?

A developer in the US might earn $150K, £80K in the UK, €90K in Europe, or AUD 150K in Australia. Apart from salary, you may get better infrastructure, cleaner air, public services, education and quality of life for the taxes you pay.

A Class 1 government officer in India can earn ₹30–40 LPA, along with benefits such as government accommodation and other perks. There is also the social status and reputation associated with the position.

But how do these two compare when you consider actual living standards, infrastructure, work-life balance, savings, social respect and the value you get for your taxes?

For those who have experienced either side, how do you see this comparison?

Help Google L4 SWE (2 YOE) looking to pivot to ML Research

I’m currently an L4 SWE IC at Google with 2 YOE. I’m stuck working on a product no one really cares about, and the work is pretty unchallenging and uninspiring.

I want to pivot back into ML research. I did some ML research in college that led to a couple of A/A* papers, so I have a decent foundation.

I was hoping to land a spot at Google DeepMind since an internal transfer would be easy, but luck isn't on my side and there have been zero relevant openings over the last 6 months.

At this point, I feel like I need to start looking at external options. What good options do I have? My only hard constraint is that I don't want to take a pay cut from current compensation.

I have solid academic background, so resume shortlisting shouldn't be a problem unless I get filtered for lacking recent domain experience.

Help Anyone who have switched role from data analyst to SDE?

I’m curious to hear from people who started their careers as Data Analysts and later moved into Software Development Engineering (SDE).
How difficult was it to make the switch? Did you have to start from scratch with DSA, system design, and development, or did your analytics experience help you land an SDE role?

I Made This See what India’s tech companies build, How their industries are growing, and Who they hire. Free, built by devs.

Ex-LinkedIn here. One thing that stuck with me from working on the hiring side: employers and recruiters have rich data on who's hiring, for what, and why. The developer applying gets a job title and a list of skills. That's it.

Nobody gives the job seeker the bigger picture. What does this company actually build, which other companies build the same thing? How is it growing, and where is its industry headed as a whole? Which roles and skills is it betting on next? Job portals give you listings. What's missing is visibility: the career intelligence to explore the industry and see where you fit before you apply.

A few of us started working on this at LinkedIn hackathon early this year, and we couldn't drop it. That's ingrid.fyi.

  • It takes hiring across India's software industry and explains it in plain English, from one developer to another
  • what each kind of employer (big tech, GCCs, product companies, IT services, staffing) builds and how it works
  • 45 industries and 19 roles, each with its own page who they hire, which skills they ask for, and what changed this quarter

It's free, just a quick sign-up. Built by developers who wanted this to exist when we were job hunting.

Would love to hear what you think.

Help Realisting to be able to switch to tech (SDE role) after 3 years in consulting?

• Upvotes

Hi, I work in a global consulting firm, and the pay is decent I'd say, above 1LPM. Is it realistic to be able to switch to a tech role now? I hate the long hours here & the constant pressure of working for clients.

I Made This I was annoyed by the 24h wait on daily logic puzzles (Queens, Tango , Patches , Zip), so I built an infinite version with procedural generation!

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I got hooked on daily morning logic games (Queens, Tango, and Zip). But getting locked out after just one 2-minute puzzle and having to wait 24 hours always bugged me.

So over the past month, I built Infinite Puzzles as a side project to generate unlimited, procedurally generated logic boards.

How the build went:

• The hardest part: Building a deductive hint engine. I didn't want hints to just spoil coordinates; it had to mathematically explain why a move is forced (row parity, locked candidates, region exclusions) without guessing.

• Tech Stack: Next.js 16 (App Router), Tailwind CSS v4, and Supabase for real-time leaderboards and streak tracking.

• 100% free & clean: No paywalls, no forced logins, and zero banner ads.

Where it stands today:

around 150+ registered players found the site and have been competing on the daily leaderboards. Seeing people actually build daily streaks has been super motivating.

Games live right now: Queens (Crowns), Tango (Sun & Moon), Pinpoint, Patches (Shikaku), Pathfinder, and Sudoku.

Site link: https://infinitepuzzles.com

I’d love your feedback on a few things:

  1. How does the touch/tap interaction feel on your mobile device?

  2. Does the difficulty curve across levels feel balanced?

  3. Any UI clutter or performance lag?

Brutal feedback is welcome. Thanks for checking it out!

Career Life at Capgemini India: Work-Life Balance, Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

Role: Alpha

Package: 13 LPA (12 LPA + 1 LPA joining bonus)

On-campus offer

I know the market is bad right now and service-based companies get a lot of criticism, but getting a decent offer in this market is still something to be grateful for.

I wanted to know what life at Capgemini is actually like. How is the work-life balance, project allocation, and technical growth for someone joining at this level? Is there a chance to work on good projects, learn relevant technologies, and eventually switch to a product-based company after 2–3 years?

Career I finally resigned - Continuation to my recent post on this subreddit

Hi All,

I recently made a post on this subreddit about being stuck in the 90 days notice period loop.

This is the link if anybody wants to refer - Help me escape 90 days notice period

When the offer was in the final stages of discussions, I had a one to one conversation with my manager and he was supportive enough to give me informal nod for an early release.

I finally got the offer letter this morning and within 2 hrs I have resigned in my current org.

Although the official notice period is 90 days but I am hopeful about an early release by the end of next month!

Feeling very relieved for now, hoping for a good weekend ahead to me and to everyone!

Help Should I take a short-term Mercor project while working full-time? And also Need MacBook rental recommendations in Bangalore

Hey everyone!

I'm a recent graduate currently working full-time. I've received a remote, short-term project opportunity through Mercor paying $45–$75/hour plus a bonus.

The catch is that my current company's offer letter explicitly states that I'm not allowed to earn money through other work. Mercor doesn't have an exclusivity clause, but I'm unsure whether taking this opportunity is worth the risk.

Would you take the chance, or is it too risky early in your career? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Also, the project requires a MacBook, whereas I currently use Windows. Any recommendations for trusted MacBook rental services in Bangalore, preferably from people who've used them?

Would really appreciate your honest advice.

Thanks!

Help Resigned on 5th day, company released me immediately but is refusing to provide a relieving letter. What should I do?

Hi everyone,

I joined a company but resigned on my 4th day due to role mismatch and a different work culture. I informed HR before resigning.

After that, HR didn't respond to my repeated calls and emails for around two weeks. Later, the HRBP sent me an email asking me to serve my notice period or risk being marked as absconding.

I agreed in writing to serve the notice period, but my manager refused to continue with me. The HRBP then confirmed via email that I was being released with immediate effect and that there would be no F&F settlement.

Now, I have received my LWD confirmation, but the company is refusing to issue my relieving letter.

I have emails documenting my resignation, my willingness to serve the notice period, and the HRBP's immediate-release confirmation.

My questions:

Can the company refuse to provide my relieving letter in this situation? Could this affect my PF records or future BGV? What should I do next to get my relieving letter?

Has anyone faced a similar situation? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

note:-PF has been created and contribution has been done to
