Hi! My late grandmother started this for me over 13 years ago and it was never finished. It has pulled yarn and stains from life and I was wondering if there was a way to make it less fragile.

Pattern help Needing help help fish bag drawstring backpack pattern!

1 Upvotes

hi everyone! I found this cute little pattern that I am following to use up some scrap yarn and I am stumped! I have frogged this thing so many times in the beginning bit. it keeps curling no matter how loose my tension is and even upped the hook size to 5mm.

Am I just not doing this correctly? Anyone else do this pattern and have some tips?

Here is the pattern link! https://thecaffeinatedsnail.com/crochet-fish-bag-pattern/

Looking for recommendations Fingering weight headscarf pattern inspired by my grandma’s (Christmas gift)

6 Upvotes

I finally feel ready to try fingering weight yarn and I’d love some help finding a pattern.

I want to make my mom a headscarf/bandana/babushka-style kerchief for Christmas. It’s inspired by one my grandmother used to wear — a bright red mesh one that she could fold into a triangle, put on her head, and tie under her chin. My aunt cleaned out all of Grandma’s clothes after she passed and my mom was really upset. She kept saying “she cleaned out everything… all I wanted was my mother’s headscarf.” I’ve wanted to remake something like it for her for about twenty years now.

I’m looking for something airy but not super holey, worked in fingering weight. Cute or simple is fine — I just want it to feel soft and light so it drapes nicely when tied.

Any free or paid patterns you’d recommend? Also open to yarn suggestions for a nice bright red in fingering weight.

Thanks in advance ❤️

I got 4 balls of this lovely yarn at a charity shop today and I’m so torn on what to do with it! Any suggestions or examples of what people have made with similar yarn? I’m thinking it would make a nice scarf or blanket for a Christmas present…

bonus points for a free pattern

Pattern help Need a smaller version of this wineglass rose pattern!

I found a few tutorials for this on youtube but it seems like many people end up with a bigger rose than the one in the tutorial. I want this exact look, but with a smaller size. Any suggestions? I'm using weight 3 yarn.

I have these two super cute ottomans I got off of face book market , and I’m looking for ideas for a cover for them. Just need a simple cover for the top part. I had started just a plain circle but I wanna try something more interesting. Any advice or experience with this sort of thing would be super appreciated. Not too sure where to start on my own.

Pattern help Every pattern is too big! What do I do? I need help

I'm wanting to make some outfits for a 7 inch desk goose. The problem is that nearly every pattern I find is for a full sized porch goose. Is there any way to resize these patterns for the much smaller goose?? 🪿

No example of the pattern because I'm waiting to see if this would be possible before I pay for patterns

Hey yall, I was wanting to crochet a cape in crazy preparation for seeing my favourite artist live (he's not confirmed yet but I feel it in my bones) but I'm having trouble finding an interesting enough stitch as I'm crocheting with mainly white wool with only a little green for the bottom and accents. I looked on Pinterest and Etsy and found these but their whole account is ai and everyone in the reviews are saying the patterns are wrong, incomplete or unreadable so I'm here asking if anyone knows anything similar? If anyone knows how to do any of these stitches please lmk😭 I'm not fabulous with reading patterns but I am determined to look cooler than I did last year! Also if anyone else has used these and they have worked out let me know, I don't mind taking a risk but I'd rather know for sure you know. Thanks I appreciate yall

Pattern discussion Filet crochet charts: how do you prefer large charts to be divided into reference blocks?

Post image
7 Upvotes

In my previous post, I asked about numbering on filet crochet charts. Now I’d like to understand how people prefer larger charts to be marked with an additional reference grid.

In the image, the red lines show an example with a line every 5 cells. This does not replace the numbering — it is only meant as an additional visual guide while crocheting.

1. Which spacing do you prefer?

— a line every 5 cells;
— every 10 cells;
— a lighter line every 5 cells and a stronger line every 10;
— no additional reference grid at all.

2. Which side should the reference grid start from?

Since filet crochet rows are worked in alternating directions, I’m curious whether it matters to you where the reference blocks begin:

— from the right;
— from the left;
— from the center;
— it doesn’t matter.

Vertically, would you prefer the grid to start from the bottom, following the direction of the work, or does the vertical starting point not matter either?

3. What should happen with the remainder?

If the chart size is not evenly divisible by 5 or 10, one edge block will be smaller than the others.

Which would you prefer:

— leave the smaller block at one edge;
— split the remainder between both edges so the grid stays symmetrical;
— the position of the smaller block doesn’t matter.

And the main question: what matters more to you — starting the work with a full reference block, or keeping the whole reference grid symmetrical across the chart?

I’m especially interested in the opinions of people who regularly work from large filet crochet charts.

Looking for recommendations Need ideas: have leftover yarn from making a surprise fox scarf for my boyfriend, want to make a "distraction" mini-gift first! 🦊

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!
I just finished crocheting a fox scarf as a secret gift for my boyfriend. He actually doesn't even know that I crochet, so this was supposed to be a total surprise! However, I accidentally got a little suspicious/almost got caught, so I'm pretty sure he suspects I'm secretly making something for him.
Now the scarf is complete, and I have some yarn left over that I don't want to go to waste:
1 full skein of rusty orange
Almost a full skein of white/natural
A little bit of black
I really don't want to buy any extra materials. My idea is to make a small, quick "teaser" gift first to throw him off the scent (or just give him something cute before the grand reveal), and then gift the actual fox scarf right after!
What quick or fun projects can I make with these exact colors and amounts? Any suggestions would be super appreciated! Thank you! ❤️
