Collaboration We are reconstructing Proto Indo Uralic!

This project will be hosted in the Indo Uralic Studies Discord server here!
https://discord.gg/sUDZjWu42R

This language will be constructed under the assumption that the theory is true, using proposed cognates between Proto Indo European, and Proto Uralic, (& possibly Yukaghir) representing them as sister languages! Using research from Indo Uralic linguists like Kortlandt, and others.

Looking for people who believe in the Indo Uralic theory (or just want to have some fun) and are very knowledgeable in the Indo European and Uralic fields! We have some reconstruction ideas in the notes and leads channels, and attempted full reconstruction effort in #what-we-know organizing what we are certain about Proto Indo Uralic!

(this is a repost because the old post got taken down for not being formatted correctly. Which I apologize for. I hope this is better)

Discussion Investigating whether a deeper symbolic structure exists beneath human language (cellular automata, astronomical data, and why I kept my null results)

Thumbnail xeniseni.substack.com

Hi all! I just published an essay about a question that's been driving my research for years: what if the problem isn't inventing a new language, but investigating whether a deeper symbolic structure already exists beneath how humans describe reality and whether it could be recognized and decoded?

In the essay, I break down my attempt to build a prototype translator (human intention → semantic structure → symbolic encoding → geometric expression).

I wanted to remain as rigorous as possible, so the post covers:

Computational experiments using Rule 110 cellular automata and emergent graph geometry.

Statistical testing against physical data from NASA/JPL Horizons.

Why distinguishing "discovered pattern" from "attributed meaning" became the central problem — including the explicit null results I kept instead of hiding.

I’d love to get your thoughts on the methodology and how to better separate algorithmic consistency from actual semantic discovery.

Grammar Case marker suffixes and Examples: Jageëngfiliss

Role markers suffixes

Subject-yom

Object-yam

Owner-yon

Destination-lin

Place of action-led

Time of action-jit

Approximate time-lij

Approximate place-lion

Place of origin-lim

Because it uses markers. The word order is very loose and flexible similar to latin.

Role markers go after the word—or work as suffixes. The subject uses "yom" the object uses "yam" these two are the oldest particles or the first particles i created a month ago. They are simplifications of iom, liom, iam, liam. Iom and iam are used when the word ended with a consonant—except y. Liom and liam are used when the word ended with a vowel. Although these are now obsolete because I now recignized y as a consonant and writing iam and iom is not really efficient in my writing system. Another common marker was yon this marks the owner and the thing being owned appears after the owner. For example; My car is "koyon kar"

Anyways here is an example of Yom and Yam

"It is red"

"Tuyom âka ir"

The ending

Ir is the present tense of I it means to do and to be.

The tenses used by this verb is past, present, and future tense. Present tense is Ir this translats to is; past tense is izt this translats to was; future tense is ish this translates to will.

Examples of these:

"I was alone":"koyom tiniyen izt"

"I will be tall":koyom takar ish"

We did not use yam because it doesn't have an object but a subject complement.

An example sentence with yam, yom, yon

"The mods banned my post":" modsyom koyon postyam nunpaygizt"

"I love your cat":" koyom kayon nyamkenyam ayir"

Lin and led we use these when we refer to a place. If the subject or object is heading that way we use lin, if the action happened there we use led.

Example:

" He is going east":" shayom tolin kouirya"

"He ate in the forest":shayom haldaoiled tabizt"

Jit marks the time.

"He ate in the forest at 3pm":"Shayom mutiskjit halmdaoiled tabizt"

Lij and lion approximate time and place for example:

"He ate near the forest around 3pm":"Shayom mutusklij haldaoilion tabizt"

And finally lim it is used for origin for example:

"I came from the Philippines":"koyon filipinslim"

Translation Experimenting with Arabic Calligraphy in Lwendic

Post image
69 Upvotes

I'm experimenting with applying a calligraphic style to the Methwendi script, also known as the Swan script, the native script of my conlang, Lwendic. I figured Arabic calligraphy would be a good fit for it.

Here's my attempt at writing the Basmalah in Lwendic (Arabic: بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيْمِ, romanized: bi-smi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīmi, IPA: /bis.mi‿l.laː.hi‿r.raħ.maː.ni‿r.ra.ħiː.m/).

The Basmalah is one of the most important phrases in Islam, commonly recited before daily activities and acts of worship.
---
Notes on Lwendic grammatical genders:

MAT: Material nouns (basically, inanimate nouns)
CEL: Celestial nouns (humans, deities, and culturally important common nouns)
NAT: Natural nouns (basically, animate nouns; not shown in the image)

Activity Random Nonsense Speedlang is back again!

• Upvotes

it's been five months, but let's do this again! the Random Nonsense Speedlang is an occasional challenge where i give you an english sentence followed by a nonsense phrase, and YOU have to reverse engineer just enough of a clong (phonology, grammar, lexicon) to make the nonsense translate into the english sentence. there are three levels- choose whatever you want/ have time for. got it?

today's nonsense:

Beginner:

Popłetita žife tea egrîpfô Franklin płipzočištle khŷp!- I love you madly and deeply, Franklin!

Intermediate:

Tiga kathibê Sgota tîtoifioh gfia otłeči kuu!- Don't tell Scottish Batman to f\ck off!*

Advanced:

Gupie ploge êpôih pedzep ehpaabrûthip tly dsê fii ôbli koaypo žetikšût trûzu pfêotsi afe hatłôbre khebe!- And every time I try to tell her, what comes out of my mouth instead is "let's rob a bank!"

(bonus point if you get the references, have fun!)

Translation Ínir Káitros Tolkálkí (Kaitros Goes to Tol-Town)

Hi everyone!

I have another song for you, this time in Kalian. It is the story of a Celestial migrant, an "average Kaitros", if you will, who finds himself unwelcome in a land far away from home.

Celestial migrants brought to Káláis their own musical sensibilities, including their way of tuning and playing the firsa, a long-necked lute prevalent among Kallophone cultures. The lyrics are written explicitly for the purpose of song and would not be considered stand-alone poetry; as such, they are characterised by repetitive structures that are not found in Kallophone poetry - be it Kalian or Celestial.

The lyrics, translation and gloss can be found on the video (along with some additional con-historical background), but I'll be posting the gloss and IPA in the comment section.

Enjoy!

Translation Androcles and the Lion in Etvétēsu

Second one of the fables by Aesop I decide to translate in Etvétēsu.
This one gave me some trouble with all its passives and subjunctives but I made it.

This is the original text I used:
https://m.taleswithmorals.com/aesop-fable-androcles.htm

Though I did make a few changes (as you see in the slides) to make the translation more palatable.

In particular I had to move around a few sentences because of the free use of relatives in English which isn't at all free in Etvétēsu and would make the sentence mean something else.

I put a few more pictures to have a sentence by sentence gloss and IPA to make it more legible, but I did want to have the story on its own with a lovely image in the same fashion as "the fox and the crow".
