Failed comlex retake

Hi guys I found out I failed my retake a few weeks ago and am now on a leave of absence for the rest of the year. Feeling absolutely destroyed in every capacity I really thought I passed and what's mind numbing is that my score report is legit the exact same as my first take in July if not worse.

My two COMSAEs leading up to the exam were 456 and 459 and my truelearn average was 70%+ across all systems. I truly felt confident and even remembered 160 questions after the exam which proved I was mentally present (something I did not feel after my first take). So I feel even more heartbroken this time around.

I think my issue comes down to cognitive overload under the pressure (?) idk if that makes sense that’s what chatgpt labeled it as like I’ll see a question and if I don’t know the right answer right away I’ll go down a rabbit hole trying to reason my way to the right answer but then I panic because I know I'm killing time and then my brain starts mixing everything up and the whole section becomes a blur. I did most of my prep in timed settings to try and prepare for this because I've always had test anxiety and got propranolol prescribed too but I guess it wasn’t enough.

I don’t know where to begin in terms of trying to study again but I am tired of crying and feeling miserable so would really appreciate advice in terms of coming up with a study plan. My school requires a passing score by April 5th if I want to restart my 3rd year next summer.

Specific advice I’d appreciate is whether I should reset truelearn or if I should get another qbank (amboss, comquest, uworld, etc) Since I have nothing but time on my hands I could potentially even get through 2 qbanks but again don’t know which ones would be most beneficial. Also if I should consider a test prep company and/or testing accommodations (I have adhd & anxiety/panic disorder both diagnosed and have been prescribed meds for)

What I’m thinking is spending one week on each system (first aid —> system specific timed question set —> pathoma/dirty med on incorrect concepts —> anki) with an emphasis on distinguishing between similar clinical presentations and identifying the specific reason for why I got a question wrong (content, second guessing, reasoning, reading the question wrong etc.) followed by building up endurance and stamina 80qs —-> 120qs —> 160qs daily and weekly comsaes the month leading up to my exam date.

Thank you so much in advance for whatever help, advice, resources, & words of encouragement you give me<3

Level 1 Married med student w/ an infant need advice on studying for Level 1

Second year medical student married with an infant child interested in knowing how other med school parents with infants went about studying for COMLEX Level 1? I am hoping to begin my prep in January. My wife will be home until March for maternity leave, but will then return back to work. As of right now, we don’t have childcare in place (we don’t have family near by). Also, I want to make sure I’m there for my wife and she’s not taking care of our child alone. I also plan to take Step 1.

Please only comment if you’re a parents or legal gaurdian. Would love advice from people who have been in similar shoes or will be going through something similar

Does your school have mandatory TrueLearn or Boards and Beyond Tests/Quizzes?

My school does - they're annoying more than helpful.
I'm thinking to write software that autopilots and automates these tasks.

Level 1 Retake blues

I retook level 1 today. Wt actual F. I’m so sad. I studied so hard and felt good going into it yet got so many questions on topics once again I wasn’t strong in (so much biochem). Last time I flagged 40% of the exam and failed. Today I flagged 42% of the exam. Sigh.

COMAT Comat-SE worth it or not?

Do you guys think it is worth it to take the comat se? If you have taken it, did you find it helpful? I've heard contradicting information wanted to hear the most recent opinions. I'm currently on my Peds rotation Thank you in advance :)

How are you guys actually learning content for COMATs other than just doing UWorld and TrueLearn?

I'm a few months into third year and still trying to figure out how to study during rotations. Our school mostly recommended TrueLearn, so I've been doing UWorld and TrueLearn questions after shifts. My scores are hovering around the low 60s, but I feel like I'm recognizing answer choices more than actually understanding the concepts. I'm struggling most with management questions, especially deciding between the next diagnostic step and treatment, or figuring out how age and severity affect the answer. Even after reviewing explanations, sometimes i make the same mistakes on similar questions. After 10-12 hrs at the hospital, it's also hard to review everything properly.

TrueLearn is projecting around a 99 for my COMAT, which is apparently decent, but I'm having a hard time trusting that prediction when I still feel like I'm guessing through half the questions. I'm also worried about how I'm supposed to improve enough to honor future rotations if this is how I'm studying now. For those who struggled early in third year, did more questions help, or was changing your study approach more effective?

Level 2 CE Comsae Phase 2 119

Hi everybody, was wondering if anybody had taken Comsae 119 phase 2 with their school. If so, was wondering what the high yield topics for that Comsae were. For whatever reason, the school comsaes always seem so much more difficult and odd than the ones we have accessible to purchase! I would really appreciate it!

Level 1 Level 1 retake: Advice

Hey guys I need some advice! Unfortunately I didn’t pass Level 1. I’m considering a review program this time to help me prepare for my retake. I’m deciding between Wolfpacc and the Pass Program because I need an in-person learning environment.

Has anyone attended either program? I’m also open to suggestions for other in-person programs. Thank you!

Level 1 Retaking: Should I reschedule again?

🚨 ā€¼ļø hello, I took comsae 111 today and got a 435, which shocked me because my exam is on the 22nd. Should I reschedule to the 28th?

I got a 406 on comsae 113 on 10/01 and 467 on 10/11. I’ve done like 60% of amboss with a 64% average and 35% truelearn with 64% average.

I was really hoping today’s comsae would’ve been 450+ or 500+ to give me more confidence for Thursday but now I’m not sure if I should even take this week. I have till end of October to retake.

Another thing is if I postpone to next week I won’t get my score till Dec release but of course passing level 1 is what matters most.

Does anyone have any advice??

Edit: TMI got my period and took it as a sign to push back lol. There’s no way I’m doing my retake on my period

COMAT Pediatrics COMAT...how did yall study?

Hi guys, for those who have already taken the peds comat I am wondering what resources you found helpful and what was not worth your time. I was scrolling thru reddit and have seen ppl talking about Emma Hollidays videos but they are so old so I wanted to see how relevant they are. Or if there is another youtube video that you found to be more helpful.

I am struggling to build my foundation for pediatric knowledge so any tips will be greatly appreciated! I only have truelearn through my school and can't afford any other question banks. I also have anking but am completely overwhelmed by the amount of cards in the peds shelf deck so dont know if that is worth it either. Thanks!

COMAT Surgery COMAT

I have to retake this and I’m so confused what happened. I finished all of Uworld and even did handwritten notes plus made my own anki cards (I can’t learn with premade decks unfortunately) and somehow scored a 79. I know I should’ve done truelearn but can not doing truelearn really make me score this low??

So annoyed and hate this I had just passed my comlex retake and to get hit with another fail has been tough and making me question if I’m supposed to be here.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Level 1 COMLEX retake

I just took my retake tuesday and somehow think i did worse than i did the first time. the first time i was slightly below the line. I flagged less this time and based on how I felt last time I think I passed but I am not sure. Literally last time I probably remembered 80 questions after the exam I got right and this time I remember around 100 I got right. Going crazy. What even happens if I need a third attempt? I'm really worried and not sure why I'm too dumb to pass an exam that has such a low passing threshold. Should I look into other careers in the meantime? I know people say the subsequent levels gets hard and it doesn't seem like I'm capable of passing them.
