Hi guys I found out I failed my retake a few weeks ago and am now on a leave of absence for the rest of the year. Feeling absolutely destroyed in every capacity I really thought I passed and what's mind numbing is that my score report is legit the exact same as my first take in July if not worse.
My two COMSAEs leading up to the exam were 456 and 459 and my truelearn average was 70%+ across all systems. I truly felt confident and even remembered 160 questions after the exam which proved I was mentally present (something I did not feel after my first take). So I feel even more heartbroken this time around.
I think my issue comes down to cognitive overload under the pressure (?) idk if that makes sense that’s what chatgpt labeled it as like I’ll see a question and if I don’t know the right answer right away I’ll go down a rabbit hole trying to reason my way to the right answer but then I panic because I know I'm killing time and then my brain starts mixing everything up and the whole section becomes a blur. I did most of my prep in timed settings to try and prepare for this because I've always had test anxiety and got propranolol prescribed too but I guess it wasn’t enough.
I don’t know where to begin in terms of trying to study again but I am tired of crying and feeling miserable so would really appreciate advice in terms of coming up with a study plan. My school requires a passing score by April 5th if I want to restart my 3rd year next summer.
Specific advice I’d appreciate is whether I should reset truelearn or if I should get another qbank (amboss, comquest, uworld, etc) Since I have nothing but time on my hands I could potentially even get through 2 qbanks but again don’t know which ones would be most beneficial. Also if I should consider a test prep company and/or testing accommodations (I have adhd & anxiety/panic disorder both diagnosed and have been prescribed meds for)
What I’m thinking is spending one week on each system (first aid —> system specific timed question set —> pathoma/dirty med on incorrect concepts —> anki) with an emphasis on distinguishing between similar clinical presentations and identifying the specific reason for why I got a question wrong (content, second guessing, reasoning, reading the question wrong etc.) followed by building up endurance and stamina 80qs —-> 120qs —> 160qs daily and weekly comsaes the month leading up to my exam date.
Thank you so much in advance for whatever help, advice, resources, & words of encouragement you give me<3
