Forever Recently datamined mounts are not intended for WoW Forever
https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/datamined-in-the-latest-beta-build/636148834
u/ClassicChrisstopher 10h ago
Lmao. What's the next topic to rage over.
28
u/Beginning-Pop3127 10h ago
I'm gonna make a bunch of threads about how the turtle mount dream is dead
55
u/Budget-Ocelots 10h ago
I am raging over why these mounts aren't in WoWF.
I want that big red cock to ride on.167
u/thrillho145 10h ago
This sub is so miserable. They just want something to complain about. The devs have made it clear their intentions: they want classic to feel classic. But if any little thing is slightly wrong, the sub has a full on melt down.
People here are frothing at the mouth for Forever to fail. It's fucking weird.
24
36
u/Derelictcairn 9h ago
Subs been unusable since first week of beta. Just more and more of people spouting off about shit they have no clue about, getting ragebaited by misinformation nonstop. Bitching and moaning if something isn't perfect instantly.
15
u/Y0RKC1TY 8h ago
remember the people raging that you couldnt turn off cloak and helmet without turning transmog on, and that was never the case. those were fun threads.
•
5
u/Blashtik 6h ago
And when that was one of the things that they made clear when they announced it because they already knew it would be a concern people would have with the transmog toggle. *sigh*
•
u/ItsTwist 12m ago
Side note how do you turn those off? I tried to look for the setting but I couldn’t find it
2
u/xXDamonLordXx 8h ago
It's not just this sub either, it feels like any social media is like this.
To this day I am sure 60% of people think Shadowmeld drops combat in Forever.
1
u/OrangeThrower 7h ago
Social media is for bragging and bitching. You know the majority of these people have nothing to brag about.
•
u/AzuzaBabuza 2h ago
To this day I am sure 60% of people think Shadowmeld drops combat in Forever.
It doesn't? aw man
4
u/Ok_Caterpillar5564 8h ago
The devs have made it clear their intentions: they want classic to feel classic.
Is that why they didn't consider an SD toggle until streamers told them to? Is that why they didn't make low poly Skyborne models until this sub complained about it?
Sorry but Blizzard's vision is not perfect and the feedback the community is giving has been really important in shaping this to actually feel like classic. Are some of the reactions a little dramatic? Yeah, sure. But I also think it's dramatic to act like having criticisms and giving negative feedback automatically makes you a frothing-at-the-mouth rage machine. We don't want this game to fail. We just want it to actually feel like classic (whodathunk the classic sub would want classic+ to feel like classic, crazy). And so far, Blizzard has actually listened to the feedback of these "miserable" people and it's making the game better.
If everybody just accepted everything Blizzard did and never gave any pushback, we never would have even had classic in the first place. We never would have had classic+/Forever. Forever never would have had an SD toggle. And so on. There are people who take things too far (in both directions) but a certain amount of skepticism and critical feedback is healthy.
•
u/SirePuns 1h ago
Fairest take here tbqh.
Folks are being overly dramatic though, but positive changes are being made so I just see them as a “necessary evil”.
At the end of the day, we (mostly) want the same thing so I don’t see why I’d bust their balls for acting like crybabies.
1
u/translucentlies 6h ago
meh all those stuff are taking away from the actual gameplay changes we really need
1
u/BoringBuilding 5h ago
I appreciate your treatise but to be honest it seems like a bit of fabrication and straw man of what OP pointed out.
There is quite a gap between multiple inaccurate uncorrected posts presenting actual false information that moderators let happily float around, slop AI posts, etc and BANNING ALL NEGATIVITY. I don’t see anyone saying Blizzard is perfect in 2026, literally, anywhere. That is just a complete dogshit exaggeration.
I don’t think OP claimed in any way that skepticism and feedback should not be part of the community.
It is funny to hear the claim that it is too far in both directions though. By that I assume you mean there are days where there is just a wall of blizzard glaze completely jamming up the subreddit and it is hard to find negative opinions? In my opinion that has not looked like this sub at basically…any point in time, especially not since forever was announced.
2
u/Thund3rfall 8h ago
Blizzard has simply never made sustainable, non profit based decisions before. The criticism is warrented. Theres something toxic at the core of blizzard and even tho kotic left were yet to see if anyone at the top has the spine to stand up for what they know is best for players

u/makeitgainz 8h ago
I get why you say that, but I feel like people are really passionate about classic and have been wanting classic plus for so long that anything that gets added that is slightly retail coded it’s makes us all worried it’s the start of the slippery slope…. All the way to flying mount, level boosts, and wow tokens.
6
u/iRDataNick 9h ago
A streamer will say this is a good change so the subreddit will be forced to want it back
34
u/garlicbreadncheese 10h ago
Better than the 289th thread on racials
9
u/youngliam 10h ago
The racials change made me able to play Human since I didn't want to be weapon locked before. Happy guy over here.
12
u/addressthejess 10h ago
Oh, don't worry, they'll still find reasons to rage over this one.
9
u/imaUPSdriver 10h ago
Why does retail get all the new mounts and we get nothing!
2
u/IGargleGarlic 8h ago
theyre gonna bitch like crazy when retails gets 5x as many updates because every time forever changes something people start crying and shitting themselves
2

5
u/Elector_Count 10h ago
DISNEY HD DWARVES or PIXAR LOOKING GNOMES or something
Or they start freaking out about a 0.01% racial bonus difference in a skewed online calculation, while the userbase of this subreddit doesn't even come close to the top 1-10% of the playerbase where this kind of shit might matter.

The fact that they weren't intended for WoW Forever obviously. How dare they! Lmao
252
u/typhoon_nz 10h ago
And this is why I hate datamining, it's just so bad for the community
134
u/Security_Ostrich 10h ago
If the community could stop having full on mental breakdowns over every... little... thing... Well that might help too lol.
It's so exhausting to even read this sub. Every day a new world ending threat. Lot like retail actually. Lol.
31
u/Janglewood 10h ago
There’s barely any real discussion, no real enjoyment. Like it’s a thousand complains to maybe one conversation on actual leveling or what profs do you want to do. It’s so bad
8
u/ripleyisntreal 10h ago
Yeah this sub is terrible and has been since 2019.

u/CrazzluzSenpai 10h ago
Was gonna say this. As a lurker (I put it in my main feed years ago and never bothered to get rid of it) this sub has always been a cesspool of whiny 40 year old man children. It's nothing new.
8
u/Wellthatsucks86 10h ago
If you realize that 90% of the complaints are from Era andies mad they aren’t getting attention from the devs, it’ll make browsing easier
2
u/Spaceolympian50 8h ago
Yea i have never understood people’s desire to ruin every little detail about a game they haven’t played yet. So weird.
12
u/little_hoe 10h ago
it's just so bad for the community
The community that is outraged by a chicken mount in their fantasy game? The adult crybabies in this sub would be outraged if their moms brought unsliced apples to their basement.
5
u/Bluemikami 10h ago
Remember all the scalpers and FOMO that got upset by blizzard adding a certain TCG mount as a twitch drop? Fun times.
-6
u/nano_peen 10h ago
Chicken didn’t fit with classic+ imo so I’m glad it’s not included lmao
7
u/bjlight1988 10h ago
The chicken is from the classic era of WoW. You even had to pay for it outside of game.
→ More replies (1)4
u/little_hoe 9h ago
Not a huge fan either, but the point is that sooooo many people threw a full tantrum over a mount that wasn't even confirmed to be in the game. Just mindless crying over a roumour.
→ More replies (8)-4

u/nemestrinus44 8h ago
Datamining isn’t bad by itself, it’s when the people seeing what gets found come to unreasonable conclusions and then get mad at those conclusions while taking them as fact is when datamining becomes “bad for the community.”
I personally would have liked to have those mounts and armor sets that have been found, but I’m also one of the few people on this sub who don’t want this game to look like it crawled straight out of 2004 and act like the last 22 years hasn’t happened graphics wise
41
u/remakeprox 10h ago
Alongside the mounts were also some datamined Companions and transmog sets. One of which was this incredibly fluffy looking Fey Dragon. Safe to assume that one is also not for WoW Forever

Classic Redditors, WoWhead Commentors, or Blizzard Forum Posters, who would win in a battle to the bottom?
7
u/audioshaman 9h ago
I can't believe there was a controversy based on incorrect info from data mining. Who could have know this was possible
7
15
u/BigRay_2007 10h ago
I made a post about not blinding trusting datamining like an hour ago and was getting dunked on for it. It's very difficult to take this Reddit seriously sometimes
6
u/Barnhard 10h ago
What’s funny is that blindly trusting datamining has already been proven to be a mistake multiple times since the game was announced. But they keep doing it.
1
0
u/Guilty_Turn8903 7h ago
instead you blindly trust blizzard's damage control team, claiming that assets in the wow forever client are not intended for wow forever.
14
34
u/JimmytheNice 10h ago
> “please be advised that these assets are not intended for this version of World of Warcraft.” i’ve heard these words before.
> not from you specifically and with all respect to you as a person, but we’ve experienced the past making us fear the future when these things pop up
> fear the future
could you be more dramatic?
13
22
u/Sudden_Energy 10h ago
These people never developed mentally past age 14 and played the same game for 20 years, of course they're afraid of the future.
21
14
u/stinkybobo123 10h ago
surely the mods will delete those threads now for spreading misnformation, right?

u/jumps004 9h ago
weird, they appear quite heavily at the Chinese Forever event going on right now, guess China will be getting stuff America won't
6
u/nemestrinus44 8h ago
China players aren’t as picky so blizzard gets to actually make things for them

u/Zibe123 10h ago
Fantastic, now we can go back to complaining about minmaxers.
3
u/Elden_Ring_Hype 10h ago
No no no. Now we have to complain about racials, and we need minmaxers to give us graphs and math for that. After the racials are fixed, THEN we go after minmaxers.
3
•
u/Zibe123 37m ago
Minmaxers are the enemy that this subreddit can never defeat because minmaxing will always exist in some form just to get an edge over the person who doesn't optimise.
After the racial are fixed, they will cry about the next thing until every class does the same dps, has the same utility and you can play every class with the same keybinds and every class is a builder-spender type dps. And even still, they will find something.
5
u/Shpongolese 9h ago
And people were talking so much shit to me for mocking the fact people are taking Data mined assets as gospel
2
u/bibittyboopity 9h ago
They did the same thing with clas sets that ended up being 8 months old.
Just don't trust datamines. Save rage for things they actually announce or release
6
4
u/shamonemon 10h ago
I cant believe people are cringing out at the racials
6
u/iRDataNick 9h ago
The sub wanted weapon racials gone until an imagined streamer said it, then it because a horrible idea. Turns out everything I don’t like is because of a streamer I never saw. Weird.

As soon as I saw that post earlier and what the mounts looked like I knew this would be the outcome but of course people can’t critically think when they see something that they can potentially be outraged by
•

u/Xavion15 10h ago
You mean this community overreacted to something before it was confirmed?
Wow, I am actually in disbelief
6
2
2
u/Imaginary-Arguments 6h ago
Gonna play a bit of devil's advocate here.
I think the meltdown was a good thing, ultimately. Not saying I approve of grown men getting over emotional in social media posts, but I do think that having the sub in an uproar did send a message about these types of mounts.
For a moment, humor the idea that the opposite happened. What if this sub was super hype for those mounts? Blizzard would probably consider adding them. People proactively stating their distaste is for the better.
3
4
6
5
u/Crunchybunch00 10h ago
So during SoD we had SoD abilities mingling with Classic Era because they were on the same client.
Are we going to see something similar now? With Retail assets/abilities leaking into Forever? 😆
This is going to be a bi-weekly occurrence for sure lol
6
u/MeeseChampion 10h ago
I wanted that turtle mount. This sub is so dumb that they’re gonna make blizzard scared to do anything new or fun.
3
u/IGargleGarlic 8h ago
the best part of WoW has always been collecting cool shit to show off to other players. Thats why transmog is so popular and why people spend so much time collecting mounts and pets in retail.
wanting less cool shit to collect is fucking weird
4
3
u/randominternetfren 8h ago
For those of you who wonder why the Classic community has a bad reputation. This fiasco is why. Calm tf down, you dont know what you dont know.

u/BakuretsuGirl16 10h ago
That's good to hear, why were they in the build though? Does forever use the same build as another version?
12
u/Affectionate_Toe6542 10h ago
Forever literally uses retail assets. If you have retail installed, the forever beta is ~14gb. If you don't have retail, then it's over 60gb in size. I don't know if it's just the engine and client making up the ~50gb difference in retail files and everything else is the classic skin ontop or what.
2
u/nemestrinus44 8h ago
Which is weird, we installed all these retail assets and yet they won’t let us use any of them outside of the playable races
5
u/zani1903 10h ago
And my bigger piece of curiosity, why are their textures lower quality than what would otherwise be expected if these assets are intended for a non-Forever version?
16
u/remakeprox 10h ago
The previously datamined Rexxar set was for the China Titanforged server (or first found there) so maybe for that?
5
-9
u/Storm-on 10h ago edited 3h ago
they 100% were intended for forever, they are the exact same level of detail as forever's undead paladin mount, which is below the LoD for Retail. They either decided against adding them after the backlash today or a few weeks ago when they started working on fixing other high-poly assets like skyborne and the druid forms.
Edit: everyone is mad asf about this but its objectively true that these are in Forever's Level of Detail. and its not like this exact situation hasn't happened before where blizzard then immediately lies and backtracks after backlash over datamined content (see westfall barns in retail housing in 12.1.0).
everyone is taking blizzards statement at face value when they have every single possible motivation for lying and have a history of doing it.
12
8
2
u/Afraid_Wave_1156 10h ago
It seems Forever is the modern engine with old assets and quests. Hence things like the hunter bow and wand not needing charge time until they fixed it as an example.
1
u/blatant_shill 9h ago
Classic and Retail are likely the "same" game at this point. That's not to say they're made exactly the same, but on the backend it's likely true. It's not even just a Forever thing. Even on Era it's the case, because it caused a whole bunch of bugs when they updated everything relatively recently.
9
u/Drakthul 10h ago
This is pretty funny considering how many comments I saw chastising people for overreacting.
They were overreacting in the end I guess, because they weren’t going to end up in the game.
But then again, they were also right about feeling that these assets didn’t fit in.
Shows the real pitfalls of data mining if you ask me.

Forever related posts on Reddit are downright miserable. The amount of times people have been downright wrong with info is comical.
Game looks like awesome fun and I can't wait for November 4.
•
u/Mother_Bid_4294 4h ago
It's why I'm treating forever as a "I'll see it when I see it" cause hoh boy the nothing burger that people got upset over that was the mounts of all things solidified that for me. Reddit is a miserable echochamber.
2
u/IGargleGarlic 8h ago
I think most classic players are just a miserable bunch to begin with. Its why I stopped playing classic, too many angry neckbeards who treat a video game like its their entire life.
3
u/AnonBB21 8h ago
I actually left a guild that was good just because they were always bitching about Classic even while playing Classic.
Don't have time in my life to game with people that just bitch all the time.
1
u/Blashtik 6h ago
The difference between you and those guildies is that you weren't hopelessly addicted. You had the bad overwhelm the good, so you stopped. Your guildies on the other hand can't stop and instead spend their time endlessly complaining while still playing the game, trying to squeeze the smallest amount of joy out of it.
4
u/LancingLash 10h ago
Keep giving feedback regardless if it is important to you.
-9
u/Shrabster33 9h ago
Yep. This is what the characters of the people coming in here from other wow subs and defending these mounts look like.
https://i.imgur.com/ocXAWmZ.png
Do not give these people an inch, they will take a mile.
I'd rather complain about them and it turn out they aren't meant for wow forever than wait until its too late and all the capital cities are full of a variety of silly mounts and costumes.

u/terras86 10h ago
I'm all for banning anyone who got outraged about stuff that was found via dataming from the subreddit. Like how stupid are we?

Game is built on the War Within dev tools. Makes sense that theres gonna be tons of things in the files that aren't in forever.
