Discussion Alternative game mode idea. No more immortal kings, presidents, emperors, and chiefs.
I got an idea after I saw this post from the subreddit. Please tell me what you think of this idea.

What if the leaders in a civilization game are not immortal? We can't implement this in a simple way because even if the leader changes in the game, the same player is still leading that civilization in the game.
So what if we could play a game in which every 80-100 years, when one generation dies, the players all switch civilizations, which means that new leaders rise to lead their civs.
The players still know the history of the world on their game, but now a different leader arises for each civilization. So the leaders are no longer immortal. The score will be attached to the players instead of civilization and will be based on what the leader has done for the civilization. It will have to be tuned so that getting swapped into a civ that is ahead will not give a score advantage, or at least not a big score advantage.
This could be a fun, though unpopular game mode to add some alternative rules to the game to try and make it a little more realistic and to challenge the players for their leading ability alone, regardless of civilization abilities.
bonus idea: this game mode could be used to play short games only worth 80-100 years, or to do big tournaments of short games. instead of playing the whole match, the players can matchmake or enter a tournament for a 80-100 year period matches. When they load in, they will do the best they can to lead their nation.
