Tech Help Dropped my canon g7x
As the title states.
I dropped it on its lens now it’s lopsided. Do you think it’s fixable?

This light is blinking rapidly on and off on my Canon R50. I’ve only had it for about a month and a half. It has the same battery and SD card that it came with in it, about ~5000 photos. It died on Saturday and has since been charged. I’ve also been using an SD reader to transfer photos to my new Mac yesterday. It’s never done this before and it’s kinda freaking me out because I’m afraid something might be wrong 😭

I grew up shooting canon and nostalgia has been hitting me hard. I honestly miss shooting with a 5DMkII or III.
I've moved on to Leica over the last years and while I think they have good products, I do feel like I have to be very careful since they are quite expensive and I just miss the Canon shooting experience.
The kit I have in mind:
Canon R5
Canon 5DMK IV
Canon EOS 1N (would buy a 1V but no good offers right now)
Lenses:
EF 24-70 II
EF 70-200 II
EF 135 mm
EF 85 1.2 II
EF 50 1.2
EF 35 1.4 II
and of course the adapter that is needed.
I want to invest into a proper lens kit instead the newest body as the updates of the R5mkII do not seem worth it to me. I also don't consider the R6 line up since I don't focus on video. but I'm open to have my mind changed.
The 5Dmk IV I can get as part of a good deal basically for free, so I'll just get it.
I really love the Summilux 50mm 1.4 FLE so if anyone knows about a lens that will give me similar results for the canon system pls share your secret!
Thank you!

Is there such a “best thing” as a best app for downloading Canon R7 photos to a Mac.
r/canon • u/StillrangePhoto • 23h ago
I loved my R50 but my local camera store had a grand re-opening and I couldn't pass on the trade-in specials. I've been eyeing a R7 for a while and I'm happy I pulled the trigger on it.

As title states, I got a bundle deal R8 with RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 is STM, the lens that came with is great and I am mainly looking to shoot city, landscapes and potraits.
However I'd be in Japan for the fall and need some recommendations for night photography and some scenery, not planning to spend an arm for first lens but open to recommendations.

Is the Canon AD-E1 Multi-Function Shoe Adapter necessary to use the 580 EX II speedlite with the R6 Mark II?

Is there any reason to even bother with mechanical or electronic first shutter on the R6III? Is rolling shutter for sports actually common on this camera with RF lenses? I genuinely can’t tell the difference and wondering if I’m missing out using mechanical.

I'm currently using the RF 28-70 2.8 stm + 85 vcm combo on my 2 R6 IIs. I also have the R8 + RF 16 2.8 as my 3rd body.
I've been thinking about getting another wide prime. I initially planned on getting the RF 35mm 1.4 vcm. I'm also wondering if I'd just get the 45 1.2 instead and use my surplus fund to lighting i.e the Godox AD 600bm ii.
There's no available 45 1.2 to rent where I live so I have zero experience with this lens or a way to test it.
So, is the 45+85 combo good enough or should I just wait and save enough to buy the 35 vcm?

Does anyone have experience with the Low Ink Detection System from Precision Colors? It is helpful if using non-brand ink to refill OEM cartridges since printer does not give warnings. I understand it also works with the new Pro-1100. Thank you.
Hi everyone,
I'm currently deciding between clean copies of the Mark II and Mark III versions of the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS and could use some real-world advice.
Here is my situation:
I shoot 100% outdoors-mostly horse racing, birds, and street photography. I have zero control over the lighting and often deal with harsh sunlight or backlit subjects.
Currently, I am shooting on a 1D X Mark II. Because I often crop in heavily for wildlife and sports, razor-sharp micro-contrast is critical to retain hair and feather textures.
Version II Clean copy: Around €720 and used ones aroun 550
Version III Clean copy: Goes for about €900/1000
I know both lenses share the exact same 19-group, 23-element optical formula. My questions are:
Does the Air Sphere Coating on the Mark III make a noticeable difference in retaining contrast and sharpness when shooting in challenging, uncontrolled outdoor lighting?
Considering future resale value and the optical performance, is the Mark III worth the extra cash, or should I just get a clean Mark II?
Thanks in advance!
Hello!
So I have two camera bodies of the Canon EF (the FD-mount 35mm SLR camera from the 1970s, not the EOD electrical autofocus lens mount). One, my dad bought in Japan in the 70s, and one I bought from a collector where I live. It is a fantastic camera, and I love it very much. I have no experience with digital cameras, and have ever only used this analogue camera since I was a kid.
They have both been working fairly well, considering their age (coming in at over 50 years now). Thing is, now they have both got the same issue. All of a sudden, when loading a new cartridge in the camera, I cannot wind the winding lever. It is just dead stuck and will not move at all. This hinders me from advancing the film so the film transport sprocket cannot pick up the film (I can move it manually with my fingers but that does not really work out the problem).
I am posting a picture of the instructions and I marked where in the process my problems occur.
Also, the small button on the bottom of the camera refuses to pop out again (surely it must be related)
This has never been an issue before, but it feels weird that it has now happened on both cameras. Am I doing anything wrong, or is it just age that makes the internal mechanics stale? Can somebody please help me?
The only analogue camera shop in my town does not handle this model in particular (he said the EF is the most clunky and weird construction Canon ever made).
Please note that I am by no means an expert on camera technics (just a happy amateur) so I may just be doing something wrong since it has been some time since I last used the camera.
UPDATE: The shutter button is also stuck, and will not be pressed down, either.

Hi guys! I’m very very very new to cameras, and my grandma got me an EOS R50 for my birthday (yay!). I downloaded the connect app, did all the things it told me to, thought I was set for when I eventually needed to use it. Well, I took a really nice pic and wanted to use the app to get the it on my phone, but it’s taking actually a century to connect.
I’ve been looking it up, and nothings helping. The thing is my phone is actually connected to the camera’s WiFi, and I’m not getting an error code, it just keeps saying it’s loading or whatever and says it’s ’connecting to a faster wifi network’ or something along those lines, but it’s seriously not connecting!!! A bit at a loss here guys- I hope this is the correct place to ask!! Thank you 💗
I found an offer for an R5 with a shutter count close to 700k. It is reasonably priced, about 500€ cheaper than lesser-used ones and comes with a one-year warranty. The seller is a well-known store.
Is it too risky or worth a try?

Right now I'm using a Sony a7 III + Samyang 35-150mm f2-2.8, but I tried out an R6 mk3 yesterday and fell in love with it. Now, I don't have mk3 buget, but I've been eyeing the mk1 since then.
Would it be a sidegrade going to the R6 mk1 + canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 gen 2 for event/concert photography? (I honestly don't use the really long reach of the Samyang as much as I thought I would)

i've been experimenting with flash photography using a canon r50 recently, but one of the issues is the busy time between each shot; it takes anywhere from 2-8 seconds to refresh the built-in flash, which gets longer if i continuously shoot without stopping. i've disabled long exposure noise reduction and other settings, and the SD card reading speed shouldn't be a problem.
i'm an amateur working on portrait photography and need to be able to shoot within ~3 seconds of each shot, so i'm stuck on what to do. an external flash should remedy the problem of recharging the built-in flash, but i'm also not sure what to get (godox's seem to be reliable but need an adapter, and canon's are expensive and less reliable).
is it worth looking for an entry level flash from godox, or are there better solutions for the busy refresh time on the canon r50? if you recommend a flash, it would be super helpful to include the model! thank you!
