Original Content Showcase Pong. My first ever Blender project

This is the first thing I ever made in Blender. I came over from Maya after years of doing 3D for film and ads, and wanted to learn Blender properly, so I forced myself to do everything in it except the texturing. Modelling, UVs, lighting and rendering in Cycles, textures in Substance Painter.

It’s a simple studio setup, but it’s the project that made me actually enjoy Blender. Looking at it now I’d change a lot, but it’s still one of my favourites because of what it started.

Edit: To clarify, this is the first thing I made in Blender, years ago. Not a recent project, just a throwback 🙂

No tutorials, just experimenting and trying things, eventually got this! Probably could've done it about a hundred other ways and gotten better or faster results but that's part of the learning experience. Any tips that you guys might could give for a starter would be greatly appreciated!

Need Help! How to know if ai was used in a blender model

My friend who has never touched blender has made a church in about 5 hours. Even he did have experience, I'm pretty sure it would only be like 2 weeks. Not only did he make a really good church, but this was his second version with colour and third if you ignore colour. So 3 versions in total in 5 hours with very little experience?
Something is definitely off. For this discussion, let's assume his has 2 weeks of experience. He goes to school but does study or do homework, so let's say it's 40 hours a week.

Critique My Work Compositing-Based Painterly Stylization

I'm working on a painterly stylization system for Blender, and I'd love any feedback/resources about how to make it look closer to traditional acrylic/oil paint. In particular, I'm looking for ways of adding a 3D canvas effect or adding more depth to the brush strokes.

At the moment almost all of the stylized effect comes from the compositing stage.

The wood and concrete materials and fruit models were sourced from PolyHaven. The flower models were sourced from u/vrschrsts on CGTrader. I modeled the plate, vase, and the stained glass window that the light is coming through.

I was aiming for an industry level 3D character artist to apply and meet the qualification in 3DCG or Game studio. I made this character with basic sketches and gathered multiple references on Pinterest before I started modeling and texturing using Substance painter and Clip studio, for now I am currently learning Unity to check if my models are compatible and to find out more issues to fix them. After that im planning to start making female anime character with your feedback and advice given. I would really appreciate your feedback on my next plan Thankk youuu....

Critique My Work Textured Cube Project: IRIS Cube - No AI – Procedural texturing in Blender

The basic idea behind this model was to curve the five visible faces of a cube inwards towards the centre in a parabolic shape.

With this in mind, I had two ideas:

- to apply texture to the concave faces.

- Using a subtraction process, to create the illusion that the faces are pulling away from one another.

And the cube would be printed without a support structure. To show it off to its best advantage, a textured base (but only slightly, so as not to detract from the cube), onto which the model is mounted and which orients it in space, so as to showcase it.

Specific features:

• Support-free printing for the entire piece.

• Two parts to be printed in total: the cube and the base. The way they slot together has been very carefully designed. You can see these details in the cross-sections, where I mention the assembly ‘clearances’.

• Part dimensions:

Cube: 12.2 cm × 12.2 cm (base footprint) × 12.1 cm (H)

Legs: 17.5 cm × 17 cm (base footprint) × 19 cm (H)

• Overall dimensions when assembled: 19.4 cm × 17.1 cm (footprint) × 28.7 cm (H) .

Original Content Showcase Puya Flowering - Procedural animation

• Upvotes

This is Puya alpestris subsp. zoellneri, a chagual endemic to Chile.

Everything is procedural: a Python growth model drives the plant (stalk, branching panicle, flowers opening from the bottom up, seed capsules, drying), and Blender handles instancing and rendering in Cycles. The watercolor look is a post-process on the renders. The visitor in the close-up is the chagual moth, Castnia eudesmia.

I might have had a good year-long break from creating in blender between them, but even I’ve had a glow-down my skill. I need to relearn how to texture, even though my modeling is at a completely different level now.
