Hey!
Blender Foundation just launched its annual survey to better understand the user community and determine the future direction of the Blender project.
It's anonymous and quick, only takes 5 minutes to complete.

Thanks in advance for participating! Your input will help shape the future of Blender 🧡

This is the first thing I ever made in Blender. I came over from Maya after years of doing 3D for film and ads, and wanted to learn Blender properly, so I forced myself to do everything in it except the texturing. Modelling, UVs, lighting and rendering in Cycles, textures in Substance Painter.
It’s a simple studio setup, but it’s the project that made me actually enjoy Blender. Looking at it now I’d change a lot, but it’s still one of my favourites because of what it started.
Edit: To clarify, this is the first thing I made in Blender, years ago. Not a recent project, just a throwback 🙂

This is Puya alpestris subsp. zoellneri, a chagual endemic to Chile.
Everything is procedural: a Python growth model drives the plant (stalk, branching panicle, flowers opening from the bottom up, seed capsules, drying), and Blender handles instancing and rendering in Cycles. The watercolor look is a post-process on the renders. The visitor in the close-up is the chagual moth, Castnia eudesmia.

Close enough?
Almost finished with the full body. To think that initially all I wanted to learn to make is the head... that was 2 months ago...

My friend who has never touched blender has made a church in about 5 hours. Even he did have experience, I'm pretty sure it would only be like 2 weeks. Not only did he make a really good church, but this was his second version with colour and third if you ignore colour. So 3 versions in total in 5 hours with very little experience?
Something is definitely off. For this discussion, let's assume his has 2 weeks of experience. He goes to school but does study or do homework, so let's say it's 40 hours a week.

BEHOLD!!! My first animation bake test after spending two weeks building a custom curve system to get my M.E.C. vehicle moving over rough terrain.
9 hours of baking for this masterpiece!

No tutorials, just experimenting and trying things, eventually got this! Probably could've done it about a hundred other ways and gotten better or faster results but that's part of the learning experience. Any tips that you guys might could give for a starter would be greatly appreciated!

I'm working on a painterly stylization system for Blender, and I'd love any feedback/resources about how to make it look closer to traditional acrylic/oil paint. In particular, I'm looking for ways of adding a 3D canvas effect or adding more depth to the brush strokes.
At the moment almost all of the stylized effect comes from the compositing stage.
The wood and concrete materials and fruit models were sourced from PolyHaven. The flower models were sourced from u/vrschrsts on CGTrader. I modeled the plate, vase, and the stained glass window that the light is coming through.

Welp, time to study, figured I should experiment with meshmodding for xps models.. its insanely difficult, does anyone have any tips ðŸ˜

Solo dev here. I'm making a Fallout-style game in UE5 and got tired of building greybox levels from stretched cubes, so I made my own Blender add-on.
What it does:
- Shift+Q opens a radial wheel: pick a piece, click to place it
- Pieces are built at your game's scale (character height, tile size, doors, windows)
- One click sends them to Unreal with collision and sockets already set up
- 114 pieces: buildings, props, loot containers, pickups, weapons, creatures
Would love feedback from other level designers. What pieces would you want in a kit like this?

Here is my first finished model using the finalized version of my pipeline.
Base color texture, PBR materials for the goggles and belt and a custom height map for surface details.
Designed for very dark environments with sharp shadows. think Doom 3.
The model is 242 faces.
(I come from a 2D art background, if you're curious.)
It took me about a week and a half since I started learning Blender to put together a solid pipeline I can rely on to achieve consistent results across my models. This one took around 3 hours to make.
There was a bit of troubleshooting along the way, but the workflow is pretty solid now. I can share the pipeline if anyone is interested!

Just wanted to share a little tool I've been working on for Blender 5+. Draw any curve or path and watch your chains instantly conform and flow along it, handle spacing and scaling automatically without weird stretching or manual tweaking, easily drape and drop your chains to settle naturally over your scenes with built-in physics support, and use the built-in industrial presets or plug in your own custom link models. Im not sure if there is an existing addon that is similar.
