Vent I Can’t With MAGA

An original sentiment, I know, but this morning a stranger today saw my “Fuck ICE” bumper sticker, and as I’m leaving for work, he says, “That’s your car? I don’t agree with your sticker” AT 8 IN THE MORNING!! He didn’t even say his name! I said “they’re killing people in the streets,” he said, “we watch very different stuff” “ There’s video! I’ve seen it! The world watched them murder people in the streets!” “We aren’t going to agree” THEN WHY SAY ANYTHING TO A STRANGER AS THEY’RE LEAVING FOR WORK AT 8 AM IN THE FUCKING MORNING!
I can’t! What was the point? They’re rage baiting in person?! At 8 AM?!?!
Do these maggots have any self awareness? I’m also tired of the blatant disregard for FACTS, but that’s a whole other rant.
I’ve had the bumper sticker for a year now, lived in Baltimore the whole time, and never had any issues, I know it’s not all maggots, but I am so mad he started my work day like that.

Edit: I do want to clarify that the all caps part was not said out loud. I just did a kind of “whatever” wave and left. Then ranted to myself on my drive to work. There has been some good advice in the comments, it was just too early for a stranger to start a political discussion without any sort of introduction.
Edit: I know I didn’t handle this in the best way, I was caught off guard. I just needed to vent. It was weird. Believe me, I plan on forgetting the whole thing tomorrow.

Baltimore Love 💘 Excited for the Baltimore Lantern Festival!

pics from Creative Alliance's website

I'm still trying to find my footing here in Baltimore but recently attended one of the lantern making workshops at Walter's Art Museum. The museum itself is lovely, and it was refreshing and reassuring to meet other locals looking to meet new friends. The lanterns we got to make were super cute too! I've since attended a few other of CA's mixers and now have a lil gaggle of folk to go to trivia across town with. I'm super grateful cause I'm starting to feel like I belong in town :)

I'll be marching in the parade, and was unable to attend last year's due to work. I'd love to hear about y'alls experiences in prior years. Thanks!

City Politics Vote Yes on the Baltimore Baby Fund

For the past three years our all volunteer campaign has spent our weeknights and weekends promoting the Baby Fund. We finally made it on the ballot. Here is why we think you should vote yes:

When a family has a child, their income traditionally drops. At the same time, their costs rise as they have a new mouth to feed, supplies to buy, and hospital bills to pay. This combination leads to a significant drop in purchasing power, often driving families into poverty.

This is horrible timing. The months just after we are born are the most important of our lives. A child's brains is developing, habits are forming, and if a child does not have sufficient resources, it can negatively impact them for the rest of their lives. Other research has shown that cash at this critical time can raise test scores, reduce crime, reduce CPS involvement, and save millions on healthcare costs.

We all do better when we invest in kids and families. The Baby Fund does not raise any taxes, it simply redirects money from the General Fund. The value of the fund is tied to property values to inflation proof the fund and keep the investment for years to come.

I'm happy to answer any questions that folks have.

Food When did Valley Inn sell out to Atlas group?

• Upvotes

So disappointed. I haven’t been in a long time. I didn’t see the change until we were there, should have known by the dumbass AI that answers the phone for reservations.

Such a disappointing meal. Shrimp kabobs have ONE shrimp each for a total of three shrimp per order. I’m sure the turkey burger was premade frozen with added seasoning, very thin and dry as can be. Bavarian pretzel had no flavor/taste.

Server and hostess were incredibly nice and attentive I’ll say. But that’s not enough to make me go back, not for those prices.

If you want an excellent turkey burger, Michael’s Cafe in Timonium is the place!

Safety Safety swim ladders along Canton promenade?

Post image
37 Upvotes

It always seems surprising there aren’t any safety ladders along the Pier Home promenade in Canton. So many people run and walk this in rain, sleet and snow with no guard rails. If you accidentally slip and fall in the water, especially during the winter, your options are climbing up a 20 foot piling or swimming to the nearest marina, which isn’t close. Does the city or the townhomes have responsibility for this?

Need Recommendations Good Vet for my cats relatively close to downtown?

I have a bby girl (7) and a boo boy (6) tabby . I need a vet who will give them a good check up, nothing is wrong, I just want them to start going in for check ups now that they’re grown ups. Girly pop has only been when I got her and then after I got her brother. The boy went when I first got him and then again two years ago when he caught a $700 cold. I don’t want to deal with any judgey people trying to reprimand me for not taking them more. Any suggestions?

Vent Service Fees, Up Charges

David and Dad's charges an additional .40 on food for non cash purchases, a service charge for using a debit card and expects a tip. University Market on Charles and Preston charges a service fee no matter how you pay. Why does it cost $200 just to come outside these days?

Local Clubs 🗣 Musical Theatre

hello ! i’m moving to baltimore in a few months, and Im wondering if there are any musical theatre / performing clubs that are lower commitment (like 1-2x a week meetings)?

Im thinking something like a group that puts on cabarets or showcases without needing to rehearse for a full musical/play. Or a group that just gets together and plays games etc.

Im not super interested in improv (i am no good at that lol) so any recs that aren’t improv would be greatly appreciated !!!

Im also interested in songwriting if anyone knows any groups that get together to do that.

Thank you!!!

Ask Looking for a specific type of bar

• Upvotes

If anyone has any recommendations, I’d appreciate it! I’m in search of a darker lit bar, dark wood interior, bar in the center, tvs on the wall but not the focus of the place. Sports bars are okay but no huge screens. We’re looking to do a photo shoot or something and need a cool backdrop but it’s pretty particular what my client is looking for. There are so many bars in Baltimore that there’s just no way I’ve experienced even a quarter of them, so I figured I’d ask! Thanks for any suggestions! Even if it’s outside Bmore, that’s okay.

Food Thanksgiving meal 🥘 (restaurant recommends)

• Upvotes

I will be back in Bmore for Thanksgiving with my mom, visiting my brother. He is unfortunately not in great physical or mental health and I can’t count on staying at his place or cooking there. The Airbnb I’m renting doesn’t have much for cooking. where could I pre-order Thanksgiving dinner and pick it up for us? (other than Cracker Barrel) Thanks so much for any help!
