I've got psoriasis and it had invaded my scalp and was super embarrassing and took all my self confidence. I let myself go and grew my hair out to cover it. Now, 15 years later I decided to claim my life back and stop caring if people talk. I still hear it at the grocery store and stuff but I don't care anymore. People will always talk but what you think about yourself is way more important. Bite the bullet, let it go.

Before I started losing my hair , I was really upset because I was so young and I had so many insecurities but Going bald completely, was actually really interesting to me ! Honestly, I never thought shaving my head completely would make me feel so much better and more confident! It’s an incredible feeling not having to worry about how to style your hair just to hide your bald spots. Also I feel like you just get more respect from people ! Just in general , the confidence you get it’s amazing ! I shaved completely 4 months ago and I’m only 25 years old !

My hair shedding started around April 2025, but it got worse in October 2025. I visited a dermatologist who suspected seborrhea. Even 3 months after treatment, my hair shedding hadn't stopped. I was still losing more and more hair, so I booked an appointment with a private hair specialist.
(I had to wait almost 3 months for the appointment. Getting an appointment with a doctor here in Central Europe feels like a miracle sometimes. 😂 I also had to keep my hair longer for the hair pull test.)
At first, I thought I might have alopecia areata incognita because a family member has it. But it turned out to be chronic telogen effluvium.
Blood tests at the end of August revealed that my ferritin level was just 9.6. Not good at all.
It can take almost a year to increase ferritin levels to 70+ ng/mL, which may help support healthy hair growth.
Watching around 200 hairs fall out every day, plus another 900 on wash days, was mentally exhausting.
So, for my own peace of mind, I shaved my head. And I feel so much better.
If you've been thinking about shaving your head because you're struggling with hair loss, do it.
The quality of life went up enormously.

After getting an awkward cut and side-eye from my barber this summer, I humbly submit to the council.
How much longer should I fear the wind?

Took the plunge, no turning back now

Idk I feel like I look so old for my age and idk if I like it. I’m so tired of the side effects of drugs. Every woman I’ve been with I haven’t been able to fully get intimate with and it’s hurt every relationship I’ve been with drastically. I mention that I’m balding and that I wanna shave it off but they say no. My last ex said she wouldn’t mind it because she wanted me for me not for my appearance which didn’t sit right with me because I am balding and the only reason I’m not fully bald yet is because of the drugs I’ve been using which have been giving me side affects. Of course she didn’t know about my sides because I was scared to open up about them.

liberated, I think. feels weird. 0 guard.
edit: thanks for the kind words. The main reason I wanted to edit was to say it’s incredibly fun to rub your noggin so if you’re on the fence just do it if only for the satisfaction of rubbing your dome. Looking better is secondary.

Had to do one ridiculous pose (people who take themselves too seriously are no fun) but I think it's an improvement! Thank you all for the help today!
P.S. To the three people who recommended head tats don't worry I'm way ahead of you .... Updates coming at some point.
Before photos at the end.
Raised about three thousand dollars for breast cancer (Glenn McGrath Foundation). Of course it’s Australia so needed a skin cancer protection hat. 47 if that matters. This was a couple of months ago, have kept it off since.

I’m 30 years old and my hairline has slowly receded in the last 5 or 6 years, definitely insecure about it, always took pride in my hair, just wondering if it’s time and if it is could I possibly rock the bald look? I’ve been actively losing weight and lifting, preparing to possibly go bald. lol

Hey everyone. I've been lurking here for a while and finally built up the courage to post. I'm 31, and for some time now, I've noticed my hair loss getting progressively worse.
A while back, I posted some pictures here asking for advice, and a lot of you suggested trying a style that suited my situation better—like a high fade to disguise the receding hairline. I tried it, but honestly, I'm still feeling really insecure as things keep thinning.
Lately, the idea of shaving it all off has been constantly on my mind. My biggest fear, though, is that my head is going to look huge—literally like an alien—or that the shape just won't suit me at all.
Did any of you go through this exact same fear before taking the plunge? How did you get past that initial hesitation of the first full shave? I'd really appreciate any advice, experiences, or honest feedback you can share. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been steadily losing hair since my early twenties. I’m currently 48 and figured, let’s finally do this! Kind of wish I had done this a long time ago.

Holding but I have a receding crown, seeking the council's feedback and styling suggestions.
