PlaneSpotting Ghost 747 departing AMS
Ghostly 747 departing AMS just after a heavy shower.
The stress to get this shot was immense. Runway assignments for cargo seem to be decided as they reach the thresholds (sure it isn't that late but it certainly feels like it as a photographer waiting for a plane).
I waited in the rain, refreshing Flight Radar every millisecond...and then, success. One of my favourite series of shots this year.
Hope you all like it too.

Question Why Retire the -600 and not -300?
Sorry if this is a naive question but why would Lufthansa retire the A346 before the A343?
As someone who doesn’t know the details, it makes more sense to retire the older, smaller A343. Surely it is less efficient and more costly to run than the A346.

Discussion About to fly on the A340-300
Sorry for posting this here, but I could use some… help?
I flew to JFK just to fly the A340-600 before it was gone. Some images attached.
And clearly, against all odds, it went fine ;D
Now I am about to fly back on an A340-300 and am absolutely terrified. Even moreso than before the 600 flight.
The 600’s long-ish takeoff roll already scared me so much, this one is gonna be horrible. And that slow ass climb, I am so fucked.
And it is completely dark outside now, too.
I even had a nice chat with the captain on the 600 flight and remained terrified anyway. Seems like my fear of crashing got even worse than I thought, there was time when I could enjoy takeoffs. And especially turbulence. I am surprised to find out that I no longer feel safer in turbulence…
You would not believe how scared I am.
This will be literal torture ;(
Even though I looove planes and flying and I do build and fly models.
My ideal life would basically be to also do the same with manned planes, anything from ultralights to aerobatics.
But that flight here basically solidified that that shit isn’t happening. I am absolutely terrified of dying. Even in a fucking airliner that never crashed before.
If it only had an instrument panel mode in its infotainment system, that is one thing that calmed me right the fuck down when it appeared on the 777-300ER when I flew it in 2019.
I doubt that that would be as effective now as it was back then, considering that I apparently am also scared of structural breakup, collisions and general loss of controllability now… yay.
But it would be better than nothing. Wouldn’t have to worry about “Is this too steep of a bank?!”, “Is this too slow?!”, “Are we climbing properly?!”
…
:/
At least I got to see the aileron on the 600 flight, row 35.
Now it is 31, not sure what that translates to on the 300.

History A340-600 in FRA around 2008-2010
I just went through some old photos and saw that i took pictures of this plane a lot in FRA back then . These were taken from the visitors terrace at terminal 2.
The photos are not professional or good by any means, it was a cheap camera, but i wanted to share them anyway.
Maybe someone likes to see them.

Question Why do BA 767s have white and gray cockpit window frames?
I also noticed that some may have just 2 gray windows (the front panels) and 2 other gray windows, which are the aft most windows. Sometimes it's also only the front windows that are gray.
