Does anyone in Austin have any suggestions for psychiatric care that does not stigmatize or demonize stimulants and/or benzodiazepines as part of your treatment plan ADHD and anxiety disorders? I seem to be running into the issue that the providers I’m able to afford; seem to be anti-controlled meds. (Please let me know if there is a better subreddit to post this in, as I’m new here.)
Despite having long term documented history of adverse reactions to many other alternatives that have been attempted (and still are being attempted), and long term history of improvement upon having been placed on said meds? I require a higher than 40mg adderall dosage due to mixed subtype adhd and having chronic fatigue conditions impacts my dosage. Most will not go above 30mg and at 30mg I am not functional in the slightest.
Yes, we’ve tried wakefulness agents and non stimulants and other stimulant options over the last 5-6 years. The only one to consistently work for me has been 60mg adderall for the last two years. I also have been on 0.25 klonopin after a traumatic event several months ago. Initially it was PRN as needed, but currently at the low dose daily until I’m restabilized to then taper off back to as needed. However, after having lost my insurance and unable to afford private insurance for a while; I’ll either have to pay out of pocket if I can find reasonable prices or sliding scale locations, or providers that accept MAPS.
My new provider is having me cold turkey stop the long term benzo with no taper and no therapy or stabilizing first. Is refusing to work with me on a plan.
This is also putting me at major risk being disabled and homebound with little transportation access should there be an emergency.
I’m being cut from 60mg back to 30mg again (this is the second provider to do this.) They attempted to insinuate that I was not being truthful about the dosage; despite me offering to have my previous long term psych send documentation.
As well as my previous pharmacy.
It can easily be fact checked but they refused.
This was through integral care. I’ve also tried Televero and a couple others.
I’ll also be started on a new SNRI at the same time, again, with no therapy or treatment plan to transition or slowly taper.
As someone with MECFS due to long COVID; this also will put my housing restabilization and employment re-establishing at risk in the midst of an unstable environment and circumstance.
This would entirely derail all progress I’ve made and I’d be unable to work or leave my home at all. Which defeated the sole purpose and goal as to why I connected with Integral care to begin with.
SOS. Help.
Once my funds are sorted again; I don’t mind paying higher out of pocket if need be so feel free to suggest anyway. However, for immediate care I am seeking cost effective, sliding scale, etc as that is all I am able to work with for now.
