Political Question MAGAts always tell the media they're concerned about voters cheating. In the same way that a SO accuses the other of infidelity because they themselves are cheating, is MAGA accusing everyone else of voter cheating because they're already doing it?

General Question Why do some men threaten women with ending up alone as if being single is worse than being with them?

I genuinely have no desire to be in a relationship, get married, or have children. It’s not that I can’t get into a relationship. I could if I wanted to. I just don’t see the appeal.
From what I’ve seen, relationships and marriage seem like a much better deal for men than women. Women are expected to sacrifice their bodies, careers, freedom, and peace of mind, especially once children are involved. And for what exactly?
I have absolutely no interest in putting my body through pregnancy, spending the rest of my life raising children, or dealing with the stress of having a husband. None of that sounds remotely appealing to me.
I’d genuinely rather spend my life with my cats, enjoy my freedom, and have fun with my girlies.
What I find hilarious is how some men think telling women they’ll end up single and childless is some devastating insult. Like, you’re literally describing my dream life.
Not every woman dreams of being someone’s wife or mother, and I don’t understand why that’s so difficult for some people to accept.

General Question If You're That Scared of a False Allegation Why Are You Going Home With Drunk Women?

Idk if I was a dude and I was scared of getting accused of rape I wouldn't be sleeping with anyone who's had a few.

Like if alcohol is in the picture and you know in most states you can't legally consent to sex while heavily inebriated WHY are you sleeping with drunk people? Is that not self-induced entrapment?

I can't fathom why someone who is scared of a false allegation would put themselves in such a "grey area" situation.

Even the 2026 Iran War seems designed to drive up oil prices to fuel the Russian war effort and at the same get Ukraine to stop attacking Russian oil/gas facilities claiming that is what is driving up prices.

Is it that hard for people to see what is going on?

Political Question Assuming Dems retake both house and Senate, is there anything that they can do to twist Trump's arm on foreign policy with Russia? How soon will they be able to take action?

I dont like that we are balls deep in the Kremlin right now. Feels gross, and the fact we constantly bend over backwards for the midget little dictator in Moscow so openly while Ukraine gets bombed disgusts me. What can congress do to put a muzzle on this buffoon, and how soon can they act? Can they completely override trump's policy on the Russia Ukraine war?

General Question Whats the worst book to movie/TV adaptation, and why?

Thumbnail gallery
51 Upvotes

It doesn't necessarily have to be a bad movie/show, it just has to fail to adapt the source material properly.

For me, its World War Z. The original book was a series of short stories about individuals going through and eventually triumphing over a zombie apocalypse. Starting with the doctor of "patient 0" in China, going through the disastrous or downright evil actions taken by many countries against their own civilians, and eventually (as in years later) the turning of the tide and the push back against the hoard to reclaim the world for humanity - but not without tremendous sacrifice. Its an excellent book and I highly recommend it.

The movie is ... bad. Its bad as a movie and its bad as an adaptation. Rather than being a collection of short stories with one interviewer that could have worked great as a mini series, its just Brad Pitt going around looking sauve, constantly one step ahead of every catastrophe, and eventually discovering the cure is "zombies don't attack sick people so we just need to infect everyone with something curable". Tada, problem solved by one hot dad in a standard runtime (brought to you by PEPSI).

There is almost no similarity between the book and the movie other than "zombie apocalypse". Even the zombies are wildly different - they're slow in the books, with infection taking around a day at least. In the movie, they're fast, and infection takes 12 seconds (which begs the question of how the HELL it spread across borders and oceans). I would love one day to see a low budget mini series, maybe even made by an anthology of directors, faithfully adapting the story as it was meant to be.
