Discussion Dual booted Arch Linux with AI help, but never really learned Linux — where do I go from here?

I dual booted arch quite a long time ago and never really had much problem with it because I didn't manually install it, i always had gemini by my side and it felt like things were quite easy but I think I didn't get to learn much because of that, what do I need to do from here on to learn more

I straight up thought that I couldn't get Liquid Glass on Liux because of Linux or whatever but I recently jailbroke my iPhone SE and got Liquid Glass on there so my desire to get Liquid Glass on my desktop grew and here we are, for anyone who wants the links to the tools I used, here you go. But on top of wanting the Liquid Glass aestetic I also like Frytiger Aero and Apple's new design is what I believe to be a love to that. Anyways, I hope this helps someone who wants a MacOS26 environment on their Linux System

Help/Support Title: Can’t boot into Windows from USB – keeps sending me back to BIOS (currently using Arch Linux)

Hey everyone,

I’m currently running Arch Linux, and I’m trying to switch back to Windows. However, I’m having trouble booting from my Windows installation USB.

Whenever I select the USB drive in the BIOS boot menu, the PC attempts to boot from it but sends me straight back to the BIOS instead of launching the Windows installer.

I’ve already enabled Secure Boot in the BIOS, but the problem still persists.

My problem:

  • I’m currently using Arch Linux.
  • I want to reinstall Windows using a bootable USB drive.
  • When I select the USB drive as the boot device, I end up back in the BIOS.
  • Secure Boot is enabled, but it doesn’t seem to help.

Has anyone experienced this issue or knows how to fix it?

Could this be related to the USB creation method, UEFI settings, Secure Boot, or something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Question What to backup when reinstalling arch?

So, it has finally happened and after around a year of dual-booting arch, it has finally broken. I’m going to reinstall it, but I’m not sure how to do it. What should I take from the old install so that most things are as they were, and what shouldn’t I take so that it doesn’t instantly break again?

General California's age verification laws are getting out of hand. Now someone's opened a PR to add a mandatory birth date field to archinstall

Why are these people so motivated to comply with this shitty law. I cant use arch with mandatory age verification

Help/Support DisplayLink/EVDI Installer Standalone Python TUI

https://github.com/thompsonseanr/DisplayLink-EVDI-Install-Script/releases/tag/v1.1.3

Due to an issue encountered with an older, incompatible version of EVDI and the latest Linux 7.X.X kernel, this python TUI was written to decouple the version of the EVDI module bundled with the Synaptics DisplayLink Driver and Manager installer and give users the option to choose the version of EVDI from the DisplayLink EVDI Git Repo that works for their kernel version.

Tested in:

Void
Fedora 44
Arch
openSUSE Tumbleweed

Help/Support A little NitroSense-like TUI front for kernel driver shenanigans

Post image
6 Upvotes

This is a frontend I made for my own linux tool that replicates my experience with the original Windows app.

This is similar to some other tools out there like Linuwu-sense and the like, but the implementation is different, such as no-sudo TUI (handing off the interaction to the daemon rather than straight to sysfs).

In other notes, this is my first time interacting with the general arch community, as I've started opening up to tinkering with modern arch. If anything I do is or feels wrong, please do let me know.

Question Is it possible to use wallpaper engine wallpapers in Arch Linux?

I found a wallpaper recently from wallpaper engine and I was delighted with it, I wonder if it is possible I use it on my Arch Linux Hyprland, if there is any way to adapt the wallpaper to my system.

Discussion Vela Desktop Environment

Hello, I'm currently working at Vela, a new Desktop Environment based on wlroots but with a custom Vulkan 1.4 renderer and without OpenGL or software fallback.

This is currently alpha software, even though I daily run it and it's great to me.

I'm currently looking for testers, especially nvidia testers but in general people who runs arch with kde (should run also with gnome but not tested).

Vela currently needs kde plasma just because inherits icons, fonts, kwallet and something else; no kwin as I said Vela has a custom renderer.

Vela's motto is Modern, Fluid, Sharp, Efficient. These are not only words, I invite all of you to check the architecture in the repo docs/

It currently has a file manager and a settings app where you can customize the shell a bit.

Customization will be a focus in Vela, but for now there aren't a lot of options, since this is an alpha.

At the moment Vela is very similar to Windows 11 UI, because I like it. But in the next weeks will come a major redesign which I'm working a lot on with a friend of mine. Vela will soon have his identity.

AI Disclosure: this post is made by me; Vela code is 100% written by AI, but is reviewed by me as an experienced developer and I make all the architectural and design decisions.

Requirements: A GPU which supports Vulkan 1.4

Repo: Github

There's already an automated installer and updater, also an automated vela-report to fill some useful informations for mantainers.

Thanks for reading :)
