Made this rice with a few other ones when my main os was Arch Linux

The rice is based on Zelda, Pokemon and other retro pixel art/games

Built in QML: the SDDM login theme, a replacement KDE lock screen, the logout/power screens and the installer. The goal was to make the whole flow, from boot to login, lock, unlock and shut down, feel like the PS3's XMB.

🔊 Sound on! The sounds in the video are my own PS3 sound files. The repo doesn't include any Sony sounds: it comes with its own original sounds, and there's a custom-sounds folder where you can drop in your own.

Wave shader credits: int_45h ("PS3 Menu effect") and llmciv ("Ps3 XMB 3.0 Background") on Shadertoy, which my shader builds on.

- Note: Fedora 44's Plasma Login Manager can't be themed yet, so the installer can switch you to SDDM with --use-sddm (the uninstaller switches you back)

Les presento la nueva versión Minimo OS 1.1.0. He estado trabajando en solucionar varios errores que encontre y en sumar nuevas características para hacer la experiencia mucho más fluida, funcional y personalizada.

Novedades:

• Pantalla de inicio propia: Minimo te guiña al entrar y se duerme si no hacés nada. Avisa del Bloq Mayús, deja ver la contraseña y tiene selector de sesión.
• Español e inglés, con selector en Ajustes. Las fechas y el calendario cambian según el idioma.
• Notas y calendario del mes dentro de la isla.
• Podés reordenar el menú de la isla y fijar accesos y deslizadores.
• Historial del portapapeles con imágenes (Super+V) y aviso con miniatura cuando sacás una captura.
• Vista de ventanas estilo Exposé con Super+Tab.
• Fondos animados (video o GIF) que se pausan solos.
• Minimo como mascota: comer, descansar y jugar.
• Batería y Wi‑Fi en el panel de estado, y sección de atajos con buscador.
• configuración de Ghostty y saludo en la terminal.
• Atajos predeterminados como navegador, archivos y terminal (se usara el que este como predeerminado)

Para ser completamente transparente con la comunidad: este proyecto lo desarrollo combinando mis conocimientos en programación y tecnología con asistencia de IA (vibe coding).

Aprovechar las herramientas tecnológicas actuales para agilizar el desarrollo y la corrección de código es algo totalmente normal, eficiente y estándar en el entorno actual. Utilizo este sistema a diario, le invierto recursos continuamente para reparar errores y mejorar su rendimiento. Minimo OS no es un proyecto abandonado, sino un entorno vivo que sigo puliendo día a día.

Para los comentarios malintencionados o críticas destructivas de siempre: si hay feedback técnico, sugerencias de UX/UI o reporte de errores concretos, siempre serán más que bienvenidos para seguir mejorando.

tinywm puts windows on a strip that scrolls past the screen edge, like niri on

Linux. New windows open next to the focused one and nothing else resizes.

Right ⌘ + arrows to move around, workspaces per display, an overview, and a

The ideas come from POCO Launcher on Android and One-Handed Operation on Samsung. I only vibe-coded (I hate clankers as the next guy, but i had to use them) the concept, and I'm not going to publish this extension to the GNOME Extensions site (but you can!) because I'm not a real programmer.

The launcher: I've always hated that Linux, Windows, macOS and others organize apps into categories, which feels boring and cluttered. That's why I wanted to present POCO Launcher's simple idea of organizing by color instead of by context to the Linux community. + i added an emoji picker with google emoji kitchen support.

The pinch panel: This saved me a lot of frustration on my old Samsung phones. It's easy and intuitive: add the tools you want, then pinch the screen to see it. I even stopped using the volume controls on my phone because the pinch panel provided anything i need.

Why are they together instead of in separate extensions? If you pinch toward the middle of the screen, it starts the launcher instead of the pinch panel. which i believe is super neat.

The entire code is about 3.5k lines and most of the complexity comes from google emoji kitchen integration, so it's not hard to reimplement elsewhere: https://github.com/coder56765/loco-shell

It's basically an all encompassing screenshot tool - started out as merely an annotator, but expanded in scope recently :p

Not sure if it matters to anyone, but this app is AI-free as well (I'm not anti, but I'm working on this to practice on my C)

Standout features:

It puts a small animated indicator in the top bar and opens a compact card with cover art, a seek bar and playback controls. It works with any MPRIS player (Spotify, Firefox, mpv, Flatpaks...).

The indicator can be:

• classic equalizer bars (they can follow the system accent colour)
• a real spectrum analyzer that reacts to the audio (PipeWire)
• Waves: hills that drift by and rise with the sound

It can also go into Quick Settings instead of having its own button, show the player's icon in the panel, and react to all system sound, not only the player.
