A lot of people got $8 or $51 from the FTC Prime settlement and figured that was it. It isn't, and some of the new money is already going out.
What changed (from the FTC's refund page):
- The court approved a revised order. The most one person can get went from $51 to $200.
- Already got a payment? You can get up to $149 more on top of it.
- Newly eligible: people who used 11 to 20 Prime benefits in a year. Automatic payments to this group started Oct 1.
- More rounds follow if accepted payments come in low: one in Feb 2027, and a final round that starts by Apr 2027.
How it's paid: Venmo, PayPal or a mailed check. There's no claim form, so you don't need to do anything to be included.
The catch: each payment expires 60 days after it's sent. If it lands in an old email's PayPal or Venmo, or a check gets tossed with junk mail, it's gone.
What to check today:
- Search every email you've used for Amazon, including spam, for "Amazon" and "FTC" from the last few weeks.
- Open PayPal and Venmo and look for a pending payment you haven't accepted.
- Check your mail for an envelope from the settlement administrator.
The official details are on the FTC's site (search "FTC Amazon refunds"). Real payments never ask you to pay a fee or give a password.
