USA I saw my baby in the toilet

TW: details about my abortion

I’ll start this by saying the abortion was my choice and I do not have the financial, physical, or mental capacity to bring a child into this world right now.
I was 8 weeks. I was told the same gestinal age by 2 different doctors. I did the medical abortion at home and it was the worst pain ive ever experienced. It was 10/10 pain, so much so that I couldnt help myself from yelling and screaming. I couldnt bare to sit or stand or lay down for about an hour i was just moving around screaming in pain. Then, I passed the baby. I went to the toilet and massive blood clots came out of me. I looked in the toilet and saw the baby. He had very visible arms and legs, a head and a body. he was clinging to a sac of tissue and blood.
I shouldnt have kept looking but I couldnt help myself. I stared at it for minutes, using the flashlight of my phone to get a better look. I know what I saw. This was a baby. The size of the tip of my pinky. I didn’t realize It would look this developed. I regret not taking him out and burying him. I flushed him down the toilet. I can’t forgive myself. Its the next morning and I cant stop crying. I saw my baby and flushed him down the toilet. I dont know how to cope with this. After so much pain and suffering since finding out I was pregnant, I got to see the child I have always wanted, and then he was gone in an instant because of me. This feels so awful. How am I supposed to move on.
If this happened to you id love to hear your own stories and feelings.

Europe My surgical abortion experience in Latvia (Vacuum Aspiration, ~6 weeks) A story of relief, recovery, and self-care.

(Note: My English is actually good, but I used AI to help polish and translate this post to ensure that medical terms are accurate and everything is crystal clear for everyone to understand!)

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my story here on to give back to this supportive community. I hope my experience can help someone who is currently feeling scared or overwhelmed.
Our Decision
My partner and I love children, but we had to make the difficult decision to have an abortion. First of all, we are currently (a bit ) slightly overweight and actively working on our health/fitness to achieve a better quality of life. My boyfriend also just recently got a new job at a great company, and I work in mid-level management, so I still have professional growth ahead of me. We both felt strongly that before bringing a child into the world, we need to work on ourselves first , our physical health, stability, and future foundation.
It was a tough decision and it brought us pain, but we know that feeling sad or mourning what could have been is completely normal.

The Timeline & Diagnosis Confusion
My last menstrual period (LMP) started on August 22nd.
My first ultrasound was on October 1st. The fetus was measuring very small, so the doctor initially suspected a missed miscarriage (missed abortion).
I was sent to re-check my hCG levels. The first reading on Oct 1 was 488, but my next test came back at over 21,000.(13.10 after gyn visit).
On October 14th, my gynecologist called me in urgently for another ultrasound. They located the embryo and dated the pregnancy at around 6+1 weeks (instead of the expected 7–8 weeks based on LMP).
In Latvia, there is a mandatory 72-hour waiting period after the initial consultation. Right after leaving my gynecologist’s office on October 14th, I booked my procedure as soon as possible.

Why I Chose Surgical (Vacuum Aspiration)
I specifically chose surgical vacuum aspiration over medical abortion (pills) because I know myself , I’m a bit of a softie, and after reading way too many stories on Reddit, I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle the process at home mentally or physically.
Surgery Day (Today)
Fasting: Fasted completely (no food or water) for 8–9 hours before the procedure.
The Process: Honestly, the scariest part is just being in the ward and walking into the operating room.
The IV Line: I had a bit of a mental breakdown in the operating room, mostly triggered when they inserted the catheter into the back of my hand (dorsum of the hand) which was a very sensitive spot for me!
Anesthesia & Waking Up: The anesthesia kicked in quickly, and before I knew it, I woke up in my hospital room feeling an overwhelming wave of relief.
Post-Op & How I Feel Now
I woke up quickly after the anesthesia. At first, I actually had a brief fit of giggles (I attribute that entirely to the anesthesia waking-up phase!).
Physically, I currently have mild cramping, very similar to normal period cramps. I’m resting in my room for the required 2-hour observation period and waiting to talk to the doctor.
I plan to update this post later regarding post-op care, as I know procedures and guidelines vary by region and country. But right now, I am at peace. There is a gentle sense of grief, but the heaviest weight is off my shoulders.
To Anyone Reading This:
Whatever decision you make, it is the right one for you and your life. And if you feel like you don't have a strong shoulder or partner to rely on, please remember: you have no idea how incredibly strong you truly are until you walk through this.
Sending so much love to you all. ❤️

USA Need advice on abortions as a minor

Hi Reddit! I’m 17 and in FL I had taken a plan b after but my Flo app had said I finished ovulating only two days before. Seems like there’s a risk of me still ovulating so I was curious how I would go about getting an abortion. I plan to order pregnancy tests to try after a couple of weeks but if I could help it is there a way to not get my parents involved. I have a job and would be able to pay for it on my own.

Latin America and Caribbean 29, México.

USA Scared of getting pregnant again.

Hi everyone, I had a SA last year and since then I haven’t been very sexually active. The few times I have been I’ve used condoms, however, I started becoming very anxious and paranoid even after using protection with the fear of being pregnant again. Does anyone else feel like this?… I recently did it with my partner and we used condoms but now I feel so anxious and so worried waiting for my next period… I get nauseous and this knot in my stomach scared of getting pregnant again even while being careful. Is this health anxiety? How do i overcome this.. I dislike the feeling so much. I start to think of when I first saw that positive preg test and I get flashbacks of everything ):

Asia Advice needed. First pregnancy at 37 BUT

Hi everyone. I would like to seek some advice. I have PCOS and MDD. I’m currently on lexapro, long term melatonin and piriton due to allergies. (Which I take quite frequent.)

I found out that i’m 5w5d pregnant just yesterday. This pregnancy is not planned and the whole month I’ve been leading a very unhealthy lifestyle.
Smoking, weed, drinking and vaping.

I don’t want to offend anyone, but I am considering abortion. (This baby is already having such a bad start with my lifestyle). I’m not even on any supplements.

And if I do keep the baby, I’m doing this solo.

Would like to seek opinions if anyone is keen to share. Sorry if I upset those who are trying really hard to have one.

Canada My medical abortion experience at 7 weeks

I am a week shy of 12 months PP. i struggled to get pregnant for 6 years due to PCOS & hashimotos before my third child. I had a very high risk pregnancy and it was incredibly difficult from the beginning to the end. I laboured 4 days and had an emergency c section that I spent 3 months on antibiotics trying to heal.

This decision was the hardest thing my husband and I have ever done. It was not made out of lack of love, but more so love for our 3 children and my desire to be here for them. There were times in my last pregnancy I really thought I was going to die.

With that being said, I took to Reddit to see other experiences. I was terrified with what I was reading. I was terrified for what I was about to do. Especially not knowing what comes next. How the timeline unfolds. I charted the times and events of my experience in a way that I hope helps someone else know what to expect.

Sending you all so much love.

UK and Ireland it's been two years since the abortion.

content warning for abuse & medical (abortion) trauma ahead:

two years ago, i was temporarily living with a verbally abusive alcoholic who couldn't afford hot water. he refused to allow me to help pay. i'd just moved to the UK from the US, and my only "support system" was my small group of friends from back home.

i struggle with borderline personality disorder. i don't make good decisions when it comes to partners. i don't have any real sense of identity, and i spend most of my time in a deep depression. it didn't help that i also have a myriad of health conditions piled on top. there was, is, no way i could properly care for a child, no matter how badly i want one.

i found out i was pregnant the week i moved out of his house in england and left to go to university in wales. i didn't tell him because he was visiting family. when i finally did tell him, i had the procedure scheduled and he guilted me, then ignored me until after the procedure. he knew from the start what my ideas about pregnancy and abortion were, and he was in support, so it felt strange and sad because i felt i had lost a friend through this situation.

after the procedure, i sent him a text letting him know it was done because i hadn't heard from him in nearly three weeks. he responded angrily, told me i never once considered his feelings and was behaving selfishly. i blocked him.

the abortion itself was painful and traumatic. i was alone and had to be in hospital because of my complex medical conditions. it was freezing cold and i could't stop bleeding. at one point they had to sedate me because i was in so much pain i was sobbing uncontrollably. probably up on the pain scale with gallstones, honestly -- it was absolutely brutal.

if anything, the whole experience made me even more pro-abortion. i feel grateful that i had the ability to make this decision, coming from texas originally. i worked in child protection just after roe's overturning, and i've seen the damage it's done. if i'd been stuck having to carry to term (which seemed unlikely, given my physical issues) with an abusive alcoholic, i don't know what i would've done. i would've had to drop out of my course, and i likely would've had a very traumatic pregnancy.

the worst part of the experience for me has been the grief. i briefly went into grief therapy (more of a peer counseling situation through a local charity) and it was extremely helpful. i still struggle with quite a lot of things -- i always wanted to be a parent, but due to my health issues i've accepted the fact that it's just not going to happen for me, and that's okay. i'm learning how to live with it.

tonight i'll have a little vigil for baby bort, the silly nickname my friends back home gave him, and i'll think of all of you who are struggling, as well. i think we all deserve kindness and support for what we are going through. abortion is not an easy decision by any means, but sometimes it's the right one for us.

big shout out to The Junction charity in cardiff for their support, and apologies for the length & if i sound a mess -- it's been a rough pain & emotion day and i just wanted to share. i hope you all have a peaceful day. ❤️

USA My medical abortion experience, very positive!

Hi everyone! I posted a few days ago sharing my story of finding out I was pregnant, and my thoughts and feelings behind having to get an abortion. I have seen so many awful stories on here, which I can’t express enough how sorry I am to those who do have those experiences, however if you’re scaring yourself about this process, read my story!

Last night at 9:20, I took some Dramamine and Tylenol extra strength, and then at 10:00 I took my first dose of misoprostol (which was four pills under my tongue) for 30 minutes. It was strange a little, and kinda felt like it was burning my tongue? Haven’t heard anyone say that so kinda scared me, but it went fine. During this, my cramps were incredibly low, not really much of anything happening. Then after the 30 minutes, I swallowed the remaining bit. After like 20/30 mins, I went to the bathroom. I began to panic a bit because I was cramping quite badly, but no blood was coming out. I wasn’t sure when I was supposed to start bleeding, so I was just panicking lol. I did end up throwing up, but after that felt a little better. I ended up laying down for the rest of this period, and had only medium cramps, very manageable.

For my 2nd dose, at 1:00 am, it was only 2 under the tongue, and was much better. I did cramp way worse after this round, I also began to bleed. I slept for like 2 of the hours, and then once I woke up I felt blood, so I went to the bathroom. I passed a lot of tissue, I am unsure of what this was, so if anyone could tell me I’d appreciate it, but I distinctly saw a circular piece of tissue attached to a string looking thing? I did not look at anything except for that. It kinda made me wish I did, because now I’m kinda worried I didn’t pass enough tissue, but I’m not sure. I did eat after this, which made me feel very good!

Finally at 4:00am, I did my last dose, which was by far the easiest. I took it, and after it dissolved I immediately went to sleep. I slept great! And woke up feeling really good.

Overall, the experience was way better than I could’ve expected. I was absolutely terrified going into this, but thanks to my friend and my boyfriend I had immense support around me, and thankfully the pain was manageable for me. If you’re worried about this, I promise it will be okay. It’s very temporary pain.

Currently, I am still using pads because I’m still bleeding, and have minimal cramps. My only worry is for some reason, this didn’t work, but other than that I feel really good! No more nausea, horribly exhaustion, or much of boob tenderness!

USA Surgical Abortion without sedation failed ? (SA)

I got a surgical abortion at 5 weeks and 3 days done at PP and they spotted the thing in the ultra sound easily. I got to look at it. I was feeling relatively relaxed for the procedure (but uhm still the worst procedure of my life I was crying and screaming for them to stop - I did it without sedation)

Anywho after the procedure was done the doctor came in and said they need to do a blood test because since it’s so early they might’ve not gotten everything. I felt pISSED. What do you mean I went through excruciating pain and you didn’t get it all? Anyway they did a blood test about 10 minutes after and my HCG levels were 4,488. This was done on a Saturday morning and they told me to come back for a blood test Monday morning.

I am scared i am still pregnant. My symptoms were cramping and sore breasts. Though, I can’t tell if my cramping is from still being pregnant or the procedure. My breasts are still slightly sore but not as much as before and my bleeding has been very light and brown?

I just want this sh*t out of meeeee. I’m angry and traumatized. Praying for the best. Please let me know if you’ve had a similar experience.

USA Four months after my abortion: I don’t regret my decision, but I’m still sad. Does anyone else relate?

I had an abortion about four months ago, and I still believe I made the right choice for my circumstances. But sometimes I get emotional thinking about what could have been.
I think about how far along I would be, finding out the gender, having a baby belly, holding the baby, and seeing their face. It hurts knowing I’ll never experience those things with that pregnancy. I’m not wishing I had made a different decision, but I’m still sad about the possibilities I had to let go of. Sometimes I struggle to explain how both can be true.
My periods have also felt unfamiliar since then. Before, I knew my body’s patterns—the signs my period was coming, what the flow would be like, and how long it would last. Now the symptoms and flow are less predictable, and sometimes heavier than what I’m used to. I haven’t started hormonal birth control. Beyond the physical changes, it’s emotionally upsetting because I feel like I’ve lost some control and familiarity with my own body.
I’m also Christian, and my faith adds another layer. Sometimes I worry that God is angry with me or will punish me. I struggle with feeling sad without regretting my choice, while also trying to understand what that means within my faith.
Has anyone else felt this way months afterward? Did you feel confident in your decision but still grieve what could have been? And did anyone struggle with feeling unfamiliar with their body afterward?
I’m hoping to hear from people who relate. Please be kind I’m looking for support and shared experiences, not a debate about abortion.

USA 35 and pregnant - dealing with lots of emotions

I am just seeking guidance and thoughts. I am new to Reddit. I had a MA 4 years ago after getting out of a very bad relationship. I didn’t think twice and do not regret that decision. As I approached mid 30’s I started thinking what if? And started trying. I was pregnant after 2 long years of trying off and on. We were elated and then at 7w5d I miscarried. We were so devastated and I decided to wait it out and see. While I monitored my cycle we weren’t LH testing and actively trying. I found out now at the worst possible time that I am pregnant again. My husband is getting ready to move to a new state for work and I will soon be following him after I secure employment. We had a plan, and it wasn’t get pregnant. What is causing me the most issues is it wasn’t 7 months ago we were so excited and now neither of us are sure if we even want to be parents. We were going to work on fixing debt and saving for a house and now this. Not to mention, we are moving to a state with no support. I am struggling with guilt for not wanting to keep this pregnancy not only because of how we were once so excited, but we struggled for so long shouldn’t want this? It feels wrong to myself to want to terminate but I have even take the next step and scheduled an appointment with Planned Parenthood in my home state of Colorado. My husband is of the mind that he likes the idea of a life with just us and our animals and I happen to agree with him at least to about 70% or so. This is not the right time and I feel like it also wouldn’t be fair to bring a child in to our lives if we are not fully committed. One other thing that plagues me is I am on my way to 36, my husband is almost 31, what if this is the last chance for me. I have health issues on top of regular pregnancy risks. There is just so much to contemplate and I would welcome any guidance or thoughts.

USA 7wk 5d Self Managed Medication Abortion Advice

Has anyone ever had a self-managed MA at 7wk 5d or closer to 8wks?

I do not have insurance so no PCP or anyone to prescribe for pain. I know about OTC painkillers and I have Zofran.

I also need to work this weekend, so I guess I am wondering about timelines and whether I could have it over in 24hrs?

UK and Ireland Finding out I was pregnant & medical abortion experience UK

I found out I was pregnant super early, I wasn’t ready for a second child and I’d only just started feeling like myself again & getting back into the swing of life with work and being able to do more financially for my kid. I was also awaiting my start for a new job, and wouldn’t start for another month, I knew I wouldn’t be entitled to enhanced mat pay, and to be honest I didn’t really want to start a new job pregnant especially considering my HG and overall experiences during and after pregnancy. Abortion was my immediate thought as soon as I saw those two lines. My relationship is also seriously on the rocks and my partner just doesn’t seem to have the capacity to be there for me emotionally at all, huge dismissive avoidant but thats another story.

The two lines were faint but I called NUPAs the next morning, I had done the test on a hunch the night before. Saturday morning I call NUPAs who told me the wait for a consultation was usually a few days but I could be put on they’d had a telephone slot for the next day if I wanted it with the medical professional the next day (Sunday). I said absolutely, YES.

I then spent the rest of the weekend until the phone-call in a perpetual state of what the f***. Especially as I am a part of a culture where a termination is not even considered as an option, especially when you are married & already have kids. I toyed with the idea of keeping the pregnancy. I’ll spare you my thoughts after having just written them out & deleted them, but I always came to the same conclusion, I can’t, it’s not the right time, I need to put myself & my 2 yr old first. No.

Phone call came through on the Sunday, 1 hour later of medical questions and screening, I was open about the pain I get from periods & only having a faint line I was told to go to a scan on Tuesday in Battersea. I go to my appointment, no pregnancy seen, but my endometrium had thickened. I was told to come back a week and a half later.

Friday comes round, I start feeling uncomfortable. Discomfort in my pelvic area. Probably PGP (I’m one of the few that get it from very very ultra early on in pregnancy, this having been my third time confirming this) but I was also anxious to see if the pregnancy was there by this point. I book a viability scan. I go, no pregnancy seen, I get told to refer myself to Early Pregnancy Unit at the hospital incase of PUL or smth like that. My LPP was 6.5 weeks before but I knew I must have ovulated late because I approx. knew the date I had gotten pregnant. I did explain this but I called EPU anyway. EPU says come in Monday. I go Monday, scan shows more thickness and a little bit of a sac shape but nothing in it yet. Bloods done.

I get told to come back in 48 hours on Wednesday to do more bloods. I do that then get told to go in for another scan on the Friday and update NUPAS. No scan with NUPAs needed so they share a link with me to share the NHS Early Pregnancy report with them. I go and do the scan. They can finally see the pregnancy/gestational sac, I finally cried during this moment for the first time. I felt really bad. I stalled on calling NUPAs at this point because I felt so sad, I felt sad for my body, and for the possibility of another future I might never have. I stuck to my gut. I have a million of reasons justifiable to me and thats all that matters. I called NUPAs and filed the report using their link. The doctors sign it off, they call me back, and tell me to go in on Monday to collect my medication. I spend the weeekend hyperfocussed on MA experiences. Preparing for the pain. Crying, anxious, feeling sick. I thought, Thank God NUPAs were also prescribing me codeine with the medical abortion pills!!

I go to the appt on Monday evening, I’m upset I couldn’t have just done it over the weekend and now I have to take time out of the week to do it. The clinic feels sombre, its the evening, I’ve travelled to surbiton this time to collect the medication. The receptionist smiles at me & tells me to sit and wait. I got there 20 min before my appt. I get called in 10 min after my appt is due. Its okay, but those 30 mins felt numb. NUPAS nurse comes and calls me. I follow her into a room down a long corridor. She hands me a brown paper bag and goes over everything with me, what to do, how to take what, and ensures everything on the information sheet and medication packs given to me is labelled and annotated clearly. Mifepristone first. 24-48 hrs later (my call) misoprostol. 4 vaginally or orally. Then a further 2 if nothings happened after 4 hours. And the helpline is there. So is the codeine phosphate, but I should start with paracetamol & ibuprofen first, and build up to the codeine.

I tell my partner I’ll take the first pill Tues morning, relax at home, and I will need him on Wednesday as our child doesnt have nursery that day, and I need someone to be with our child whilst I go through the pains.

Tuesday comes, I take Mifepristone, expecting to be one of the rare who experience something bizarre or painful. One hour goes by, two, three, four…. 24 - nothing. Not an ache, not a pain, not a symptom in sight. I had spent the evening researchjng about stage 2, misoprostol. I was prepped to be crying, shaking, throwing up. I had bought nurofen, paracetamol, immodium, peppermint tea (helps me with cramps), I had the codeine phosphate of course, hot water bottles, all on the ready. I was shooketh, but prepared.

Wednesday morning is here - I shake, feel faint, think to just not go through with it, then I imagine my personal reality of potentially following through with the pregnancy, and I wash my face, take a deep breath, make a tea, take two paracetamol and two ibuprofen (not medical advice) after eating a croissant and having my tea immediately after the painkillers I take the misoprostol in its packet in my hand, lay down, squirm at the thought of the pain and trauma that may occur today & tomorrow especially given my history of extreme pain, nausea, cramping, proctalgia fugax, u name it, during a previous miscarriage, and the birth I had, and the periods and suspected adeno/endo I may have.

I lay down, insert the misoprostol. 1, 2, 3, 4. As far back as they can go. I shake a bit. Anxiety. I turn to my side. I put on a series I love. I can’t watch. I flip flop about for half an hour, 45 mins, 1 hour passes in total - nothing. I just start getting into my head. I fall asleep, I wake up 2 hrs later. 3 hours have gone. I lay awake for another 20 mins. No cramps still. I think fantastic, the end of this is not in sight!!

I decide to go to the loo, I pee. I wipe, I think I see some pink but not much. Very very mild & light.

I call NUPAS at the 3hr 45 min mark. I tell them whats occurred and no cramping or pain. They call back & tell me take the next stage, two misoprostol.

I decide I will take it after I come back from the loo again. I need to go back for number 2.

I go to the loo, I poop. And then some clots & blood gush out, nothing major I thought as I remember this sort of stuff coming out of me every few hours for a solid week during my previous miscarriage that went on for 8 days. I also bleed A LOT during periods. And clot a lot too. So i thought this is minor!

I then take the further two misoprostol orally. After an hour, mild cramps, nothing as bad as my periods are or nowhere near my miscarriage pains, a true 1/10. 10 being crying shaking throwing up passing out, and my periods and miscarriage having been a strong 10 or 11 out of 10, lol.

I start bleeding a little more, no clots this time. I expect my period / previous miscarriage level of blood. This is a smidge. I start getting worried. Not a serious cramp or passing tissue waves of contractions type experience that Id read about in sight.

24 hrs go by Id called NUPAS three ornfour times by this point. They told me wait it will come, can take 48 hours fornsome. I wait 48 hours, bleeding becomes lighter and no major tissue just pea sized clumps here and there. This is exactly what happened right before my actual passing of the pregnancy I had during my previous miscarriage - in my head, its coming but idk when, could be tomorrow, 2 days, a week. 48 hours goes by, I call NUPAs, they tell me it could take a little while longer, several more days. At this point I start feeling anxious and uncomfortable. Day 3 after the misoprostol, nothing?

I pay for a scan. I go. Abdominal scan ofc. No pregnancy tissue found!? I had passed it?!

I leave, and go and sit with this information.

I realise, it had been those clots/blood that gushed out after 3.5 hrs after taking the 4 misoprostol. Thats the only time it couldve been. No pain, no cramping, no nausea, no painful diarrhea as id had before with miscarriage and pregnancy, no feeling my cervix passing it through, just straight plop and go.

I am very fortunate. I know not everyone gets to experience this. I do think this is important to share however. I was looking at all these stories online and I think my anxiety had gotten the better of me. This may very well not be most womens medical abortion experience, but I do think its important to share when its overall positive & not traumatic as well, as I think that a lot of women who become pregnant who want to consider abortion get put off by how the system and process from provider to the medication works, and also many women feel unjustified because they may come
From cultures such as mine where its not seen as an option typically. Please choose what you want for you & nobody else. We are fortunate to have this option.

I do think being not as far along made a difference, who knows though. I was meant to be nearly 8 weeks, but the pregnancy was measuring smaller & its very likely I ovulated late so apparently it looked like the pregnancy was about 7. I understand its not easy for most to make a decision so soon, but if this can ease the mind of one woman then I’ve done enough. I think this is important to share because I also want women who may be scared, of any age, shape, condition or background to know that I had the most fantastic, and compassionate support from NUPAs. They were truly so knowledgable & supportive, each and everyone of them. Quick to answer and call back. My only wish is for there to be more clinicsand medication available in more locations around. Big thank you to the NUPAS staff.

And again, if you find yourself unsure, there is pre abortion counselling available I’m sure through NUPAs. You’ve got this, do what you feel is right, but don’t be too scared. Listen to the NUPAS team about your painkiller choices, be open about what your periods are like and the fear of your pain. Its okay. I was given codeine and didn’t even have to use it in the end, but coming from a girly whose been in pain from periods her whole life, who has been told I have suspected adenomyosis and whose miscarriage was traumatic as hell, the abortion pills just brought on mild cramps in comparison. I pray over everyone who has a different experience, and I would also just say speak to the providers team, advocate for yourself, talk about what youre feeling and any physical symptoms youre worried about. You can get through this.

UK and Ireland 1.5 years post abortion and I still think about it everyday

Hello, just coming on here to share how i feel with people who are likely in the same boat. Since my (medical) abortion in June last year i have thought about it without fail every single day. Partly because it was genuinely one of the most painful experiences of my life and think I’m a little traumatised (i faced a fair few complications and it strung out the whole affair for what should have been a few weeks to a few months :/) but i also feel mentally effed up. I don’t regret it one bit but I feel changed in a way i cant quite put my finger on. I defiantly do mourn the life i’ll never experience in a very strange way, I guess it brought up a whole lot of what ifs I had never thought about. I had the absolute worst 9 weeks of my life when i was pregnant, all of my symptoms were evil and intense but part of me misses the unusual and indescribable comfort I felt looking back on it… idk if that makes sense or if anyone can relate… i think I unknowingly got a little bit attached and protective over this thing me and my partner had accidentally created but perhaps it was just my hormones making me feel maternal for the first time ever. How do people who never want kids but carry a lot of grief from their abortion cope when you find yourself feeling heavy?

Canada 38, 5 weeks pregnant, and torn what to do

I am 38, Canadian, and found out today that I am about 5 weeks pregnant, with a positive digital test. My period is 4 days late, and I have bad cramps today, and for the last days. This was completely unplanned. One time last month, he finished inside me, and I did not think I was ovulating (my app said it was a low-risk date). My partner is almost 50, and I am 38, so the timeline feels tight for both of us.

I had an abortion at 30 at 5 weeks, also with the same man. We were both in very precarious positions then, and we had even used the morning-after pill. That was really hard on me emotionally, so this is bringing a lot back up. Last time I got the abortion within 48 hours of finding out, and I am not sure I should decide so fast this time. I also know that at 38 I might miscarry on my own, so part of me wonders if I should wait and see - and if so, for how long.

I am torn. Part of me is scared of how completely a baby would change my life, and of a role I cannot step out of. I also feel a “this might be my last chance” pressure because of my age. I have a stable job and a solid relationship, but neither of us have ever said we are in the baby-having zone, and I do not think we even know how to imagine a different life.

I am so worried that another abortion will break me. If I knew I would have easy future options to get pregnant, I think I would have an abortion, but being 38 is different. I also feel guilty that some people try so hard to get pregnant, and here I am with two accidents.

For anyone who has been in a similar spot: how did you figure out whether you actually wanted a baby, or whether you were just scared of missing your chance? I would really appreciate hearing from people who have been through it. I feel lost.

USA Possibly medical abortion tomorrow feeling scared

I live in IL, I have no insurance and I have no idea how much this is going to cost me. I’m scared of any protestors outside and I’m going thru this alone none my girls know, none my siblings or family. The guilt eats me up inside and I’ve cried daily since I’ve found out I’m pregnant. I’m 20F do medical abortions work out highly ? I’ve been so depressed since I want to get on medications . I’ve even almost lost my job from this and it’s like I need to keep moving forward.

I’m especially scared of seeing it in the toilet… I don’t know I really just my mental health is so unstable I feel like a horrible person.

USA I'm scared my abortion was unsuccessful despite heavy bleeding

so around three weeks ago I took the first pill and 48 hours later I took 4 pills by dissolving them in my mouth, 30 minutes after doing so I had thrown up 5 times, passed out and immediately bled heavy chunky clots... I bled heavily for a week with a lot of clots (I was 9 weeks at the time) I was instructed by the EMTs to not take the other 4 pills that I was instructed to take on the bottle because I would likely die. my blood pressure dropped immediately to 40 and my heart rate was hard to find. so I didn't take the rest of the pills. now I would have been 12 weeks and I've noticed my boobs are still getting huge and my stomach has tripled in size and I have developed new sensations like a very very sensitive smell to everything. I'm very worried that It failed despite heavy bleeding. I've also had left side pain for two days and weird discharge

USA No longer bleeding on day 3 of my med abortion?

I was just under 6 weeks. I took mifepristone on Friday at 2pm. On Saturday I took the pain management pills around 3:30pm, and then 4 misoprostol tablets after that (I let them dissolve and then swallowed the remainding bits of the pills).

I was resting in bed and I had no bleeding or cramping (other than one or two cramps when changing my position in bed) for about 1-2 hours after I took the misoprostol. I took a nap and woke up around 7:30pm and I then did have blood in my pad. I went to the bathroom and a large ball-feeling thing did come out into the toilet, but the water was full of blood so I was unable to see it.

For context regarding cramping, I NEVER ever experience period cramps on my period. I also have had one baby vaginally, but during labor I never experienced cramps or contractions until I was about 6 or 7 cm dilated after they had to break my water. I’m not sure if I have a high pain tolerance or what.

I continued to bleed through the night and then today up until around 3:30pm (about 24 hours after taking the misoprostol). Again, no cramping either.

I just want to make sure that this is normal and that my body has done what it needed to do. My repro office isn’t open until Monday and I wanted to get some opinions/advice on here until I’m able to call them tomorrow.

UK and Ireland Worries about incomplete medical abortion14 days post MA

I completed a home MA 14 days ago. I was 6 weeks 4 days. I had no pregnancy symptoms. Process seemed to go as expected with severe cramping and heaving bleeding including clots for +/- 2 days followed by light bleeding for just over a week. About 5 days ago i started experiencing tender breasts and abdomjnal cramping. I am concerned the MA was somehow not successful? Or could it be my hormones realigning? Did anyone else experience hormonal fluctuations post MA ? I am assuming I should get a scan to confirm.
