USA Twins…surgical abortion at 6w5d. Has anyone done this?

I can’t believe I’m writing this. After my hubs medical scare and ultimate abortion back in June, we realized we desperately wanted a third baby and after a miscarriage and a few let down months we got it…plus one extra.

To say we were shocked is an understatement. I never thought if I got multiples that I would be this sad, regretful, anxious, and terrified. We would already be pushing capacity space wise and financially with 3 so 4 is entirely out of the question.

I got the ultrasound that confirmed: two fraternal twins 6w5d (a week earlier than my LMP dated me). After hours of talking we scheduled a surgical procedure scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9. I have only done the pills in the past but was weary given the fact that there are two and I didn’t want it to fail.

Has anyone done a surgical with multiples before? How was it? I’m so sad and guilty and anxious.

UK and Ireland My Experience with Abortion Pills at 7weeks Pregnant

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share my medical abortion experience because I know there are probably so many women on here doing exactly what I was doing — scrolling through Reddit, reading absolutely everything and worrying themselves sick about what’s going to happen. Sorry, it’s a long one…

I was 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant when I went to get the scan for my pregnancy.

Before I start, I just want to say that everyone’s experience is different, but I really hope mine can reassure someone who’s feeling as anxious as I was.

Friday – First tablet (mifepristone)

I took my first tablet on Friday evening at around 8:20 pm. I was already so nervous about the whole process. I think the anticipation was honestly one of the worst parts because I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I ended up experiencing nausea and vomiting the following morning, which wasn’t pleasant at all.

Saturday – The four misoprostol tablets

At around 8:40 pm on Saturday, I inserted the four misoprostol tablets vaginally. I chose the vaginal route and followed the instructions BPAS had given me. I’m not going to lie, I was absolutely dreading this part. I’d read so many stories about women experiencing unbearable pain, and I think I’d convinced myself that was definitely going to happen to me.

Initially, nothing much happened. Then the cramps started coming on gradually. At first, they were manageable, but they eventually got to around a 5–6/10. They felt like really strong period cramps across my lower stomach. I used a hot water bottle, which definitely helped, and took one 400 mg ibuprofen tablet when I felt I needed it.

I also experienced chills and quite a bit of shaking, which honestly freaked me out! I wasn’t expecting my whole body to shake like that. Thankfully, it eventually settled. At one point, I had a sharp pain on my right side when I stood up, but it went away. I’d already had a scan confirming the pregnancy was in my uterus, which gave me some reassurance. I remember constantly checking my pad because I was so worried the tablets weren’t working.

Eventually, I noticed a little spot of blood. Then when I went to the toilet, I noticed blood dripping into the toilet, and I passed what looked like a clot. I thought I’d immediately start bleeding really heavily, but that wasn’t the case for me. The bleeding seemed to come and go a little, and I was questioning absolutely everything.

I also noticed what looked like two of the misoprostol tablets when I wiped later on. They still looked pretty solid, and I panicked thinking they hadn’t dissolved properly. I ended up ringing BPAS, explained what had been happening, and the lady reassured me that the symptoms were already happening. That definitely helped calm my nerves.

Between 12–1 am – I believe the pregnancy passed

This is the part that surprised me the most. Sometime between midnight and 1 am, I believe I passed the pregnancy. And honestly, the relief afterwards was almost immediate. The cramps I’d been experiencing suddenly eased, and the nausea completely disappeared. It was such a strange feeling because I’d spent the whole evening worrying, and then suddenly I felt so much more comfortable. I hadn’t expected the change to happen so quickly.

Sunday morning – Feeling like myself again!

I actually had a REALLY good sleep afterwards! I woke up feeling physically back to myself, which I honestly wasn’t expecting. No cramps, no nausea, and I felt completely normal apart from the bleeding. My bleeding was somewhere between moderate and heavy, similar to a heavy period, but I wasn’t in pain. I was genuinely surprised at how much better I felt compared with the night before.

Things I wish I’d known before going through this

Firstly, please don’t assume that every horror story you read online is going to be your experience. I’m not saying medical abortions are easy or painless, because everyone is different and some women have a much harder experience. But I spent so much time worrying about things that hadn’t even happened yet.

For me, the cramps were uncomfortable but manageable. The shaking was probably one of the scariest symptoms simply because I wasn’t expecting it.

And if you’re someone who constantly needs reassurance that things are progressing normally, I completely understand because I was exactly the same! Having someone with me helped massively. I also found the hot water bottle really comforting.

Please don’t hesitate to call your provider if something is worrying you. BPAS were there to answer my questions, and it was reassuring to speak to someone.

My biggest takeaway ❤️

I think the fear of the unknown was worse than the actual experience for me. I had prepared myself for the absolute worst, and although there were uncomfortable moments, my experience was nowhere near as frightening as I’d imagined. It’s now Monday morning, and I genuinely feel like myself again. Of course, I still need to complete my follow-up pregnancy test when BPAS instructs me to, so I’m not claiming everything is confirmed complete just yet.

I just wanted to share my experience while it’s still fresh in my mind. If you’re reading this the night before taking your tablets, or you’re sitting there waiting for the cramps to start, I know exactly how you’re feeling.

Try not to compare your experience to everyone else’s. Follow your provider’s instructions, have your comfort items ready, and know when to reach out for medical help.

You can be scared and still get through it.

Sending so much love to anyone going through this. You’ve got this. ❤️

UK and Ireland Idk what to do anymore

A week ago today I had a surgical abortion at 21 weeks.

When I found out I was pregnant I was already at 18 weeks. I’m 19, unemployed, not in any education and heavily unwell so it was lowkey a non negotiable. The procedure itself wasn’t bad at all im severely anemic so I had to do it under the nhs and had to drive 3 hours to London to have the abortion done. I required 2 blood transfusions after the surgery but all went very well and got discharged the next day with an iron prescription.

That being said, before having the abortion I didn’t really think much of it and didn’t expect to have any mental health issues but ever since I had the abortion I can’t stop crying I bonded with the baby so much and would notice every little kick and movement and now that theres nothing it just makes me feel so awful for making that decision.

I do have a strong support system both my parents and my partner (and his family) have all been extremely supportive towards me and make sure im not alone at any time during all of this but just the little things like not feeling her kicks anymore or simply just lactating are making me such an emotional wreck.

Does it get better with time?

USA Trying to decide between Heyjane telehealth vs Planned parenthood

Hello, so obviously I recently found out I’m pregnant (this morning) after testing due to suspected morning sickness (I’m likely around 5weeks). I’ve alr decided on abortion I just don’t know which route to take. I don’t know if I should go through planned parenthood or telehealth like heyjane. For context I’m 22 y/o in California and married, current uninsured and recently had to resign from my job. I just want the fastest most cost effective option. I’d love to hear any personal experiences, opinions, or advice as I’m kind of blindsided by all of this

USA Currently going through an abortion, feeling overwhelmed and scared

I don’t even know where to start. I found out I was unexpectedly pregnant two days ago and got an abortion this morning. I’ve been feeling so overwhelmed trying to process everything that has happened.
My bf and I are both 22 years old. I am currently a graduate student and unemployed. This pregnancy was unwanted and completely unexpected. I wasn’t planning on becoming pregnant, and finding out turned my world upside down. I ended up having an ultrasound, and I was told that I was 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I started crying when they told me how far along I was. I think hearing the actual number made everything feel real in a way that it hadn’t before. Until then, it was almost like I was trying to wrap my head around the fact that I was pregnant in the first place, and suddenly I was being told exactly how far along I was. I don’t even know why that moment affected me so much, but I couldn’t hold back the tears.
The hardest part is that I know I don’t want to be pregnant. This wasn’t planned, and it isn’t something I feel ready for or want in my life right now. I decided to have a medication abortion, but knowing what I want doesn’t make the actual experience any less overwhelming. I think I expected myself to be able to handle everything more logically, but the reality has been much more emotional than I anticipated.
I’ve started the medication abortion process and taken the first pill. So far, I haven’t experienced much beyond what feels normal for me, but I’m anxious about what comes next and how I’m going to feel physically and emotionally over the next few days.
It’s exhausting because I feel like I’m supposed to keep functioning normally while trying to process something that has completely thrown me off. I still have to worry about school, work, deadlines, and everything else, even though a huge part of my mind is focused on the pregnancy and abortion.
I think what’s confusing me most is how emotional I’ve been. I know I don’t want this pregnancy, and I know why I made my decision. When I drove to the clinic, sat in the waiting room, and drove home, I feel like a part of me left my body. It feels like my life will never go back to normal and the past three days will be on repeat over and over again.
I feel like people sometimes assume that if you choose to have an abortion, you must feel completely certain and emotionally fine about the entire process. But I’m realizing that making a decision doesn’t mean you automatically know how to handle everything that comes with it.
I’m not questioning my decision. I’m just overwhelmed. I wasn’t prepared for an unexpected pregnancy, the ultrasound, the emotions that come along with it, or the physical process of ending the pregnancy. And now I’m trying to get through all of it while keeping the rest of my life together.
I guess I’m looking for reassurance from people who have been through something similar.
I could really use some support from people who understand what it’s like to go through an unwanted, unexpected pregnancy and feel overwhelmed by the entire experience, even when you know what decision you want to make.
I just feel like a lot has happened in such a short amount of time, and I haven’t had the chance to fully process any of it.

UK and Ireland My medical abortion experience at 6 weeks along in Scotland.

I’ll try to keep this as short as possible but happy to answer any questions I haven’t covered below! For context, I’m 27, live alone and have IBS (constipated at the time of this abortion) and ADHD. This context will make sense with the things I cover on this post. Also, a low pain tolerance.

Monday - 5th Oct
Phoned the women’s health service for north lanarkshire and they called me back to schedule a telephone appointment with a nurse on the following monday. They also emailed me all the abortion options with lots of information.

Monday - 12th Oct
Women’s unit called me back to book me in for ultrasound, discuss options and ask usual questions about my medical history and such. I got my ultrasound appointment for the next day!

Tuesday - 13th Oct
I went to my appointment at the women’s health unit (in a hospital near Glasgow). I had an ultrasound and the doctor advised I was 5 weeks and 4 days. I was very emotional during all of this and had to bring my mum in to hold my hand. We discussed what nerves I had prior to the medical abortion, mainly the pain and that fact I can’t take ibuprofen due to my stomach problems, she prescribed me heavy duty painkillers (dihydrocodeine) and a nurse gave me my package, which had the following:
- 1 mifepristone tablet
- 6 misoprostol tablets
- a tampon and wipe if i wish to insert tablets vaginally (i had the option for under the tongue or vaginally)
- 3 day course of anti biotics
- a pregnancy test to be taken 3 weeks after my miso day
- 3 month course of the contraceptive pill. You can choose either combination pill or progesterone only
- instructions for the medication and what to expect plus an ‘abortion talks’ leaflet for support if needed
- my prescription for dihydrocodeine
- my ultrasound scan (I had to ask for this specifically as it’s not included without request)

Everyone in the unit was exceptionally kind and understanding. I had a positive experience here.

Wednesday - 14th Oct
I didn’t start the process this day but I do believe I may have started miscarrying on this night. I was watching TV with my partner when I started feeling cramps. Went to the toilet to wipe and had about 2 x 50ps sized amount of red blood. I was really emotional and confused to be honest.

Thursday - 15th Oct
I took the mifepristone tablet at around 1pm. I was very anxious about it and ended up going to the shops to get some comfort food and started a new comfort show (Sex and the City for anyone who cares). I was very anxious due to bleeding the night before and having brown blood when wiping throughout the morning.
Nothing really happened this day, except some cramping and a little nausea but I was already experiencing this with the pregnancy.

Friday - 16th Oct
I started bleeding that morning very lightly which progressed throughout the day. Around 6pm I started feeling more intense cramping and feeling like I had to poo? I went to the toilet and started pushing, before I could even pee, a £2 coin sized clot fell out of me with a gush of blood. I found this really upsetting. I phoned the hospital to make sure everything was ok and they told me to continue with the process. My partner brought me food and cared for me that evening as it was unexpected for me to start the process so early.

Saturday - 17th Oct
My partner came over at 1pm. I took my painkillers (1000mg paracetamol and 60mg of dihydrocodeine) at 1:30pm along with my antibiotics and birth control. I then put 4 misoprostol tablets under my tongue at around 2pm. Made sure I had ice cold water available and my hot water bottle. Within 15 minutes of the tablets being in my mouth, I started getting cramps that felt like IBS and period cramps mixed together. I ended up going number 2 and the cramps were about a 4.5/10, manageable but sore. I hadn’t went number 2 for almost a week on this day, the miso must have made me go which I’m thankful for, lol. They subsided by the time the pills had disintegrated and my pain killers had kicked in. Around 3:15pm, I started having intense cramps. I mean moaning, holding my stomach, could not do anything except lie there and accept defeat. I kept getting up to sit on the toilet to try and push as this was the only slight relief I could get. I managed to push out many more big clots. The cramps intensified until 6pm, when I took more pain killers. The cramps were honestly an 8/10, very painful for me and I couldn’t even string a sentence together (my bf kept asking me things and I kept telling him shhhhh can’t speak). I was shaking really badly and didn’t want to be touched. I tried to run a bath but my hot water wasn’t working btw, but I’m sure that would’ve helped. I managed to sleep on and off from 7pm-9pm. I had cramps which were quite intense (not as bad as earlier) until 2am. I fell asleep at 2am and woke up the next day with 0 cramps and everything was ok. Obviously still bleeding heavily but not too bad.

I have to make a note here to say I was supposed to take a further 2 miso tablets at 6pm but I completely forgot, and because I’d already been bleeding for 2 days with heavy clots etc, I decided not to take them the following day. This is not medical advice and just my personal choice. Hence, ADHD noted because I genuinely did forget with all the pains and confusion I was experiencing. So, if you’re similar, please advise your partner or support person to remind you/give you them on time.

Today is Monday 19th October and I’ve been bleeding moderately and passing smaller clots. Everything is going well. I’m still very emotional and experiencing a lot of grief but I know I made the right choice and I’m glad it’s over.

I hope this helps anyone going through this. It really helped me to read other peoples experiences. Sending love to anyone struggling!

USA Has anyone dealt with dfcs after taking abortion pills? Looking for advice and similar experiences.

Hi everyone. I’m looking for advice from anyone who has experience with DFCS or has been through something similar.

I’m a first-time mom in Georgia, and my baby was born prematurely and is currently in the NICU.

During my pregnancy, I took abortion medication because I didn’t realize how far along I was. I ended up giving birth unexpectedly, and a medical professional at the hospital reported me to DFCS because I had taken the medication.

A DFCS caseworker came to my home, interviewed me about the medication and my pregnancy, and asked questions about my baby’s safety. She told me she would return, but I haven’t heard from her since.

It’s been about 10 days since the home visit, and I have no idea whether my case is still open, whether the investigation is ongoing, or whether a decision has been made.

I’m already dealing with the emotional stress of having a premature baby in the NICU, recovering from childbirth, and preparing for my baby’s eventual discharge. Not knowing what’s happening with DFCS is adding another layer of anxiety to everything.

I love my baby and want to bring him home when he’s medically ready. I’m doing my best to prepare for him and make sure he has everything he needs.

I’m hoping to hear from people who have dealt with Georgia DFCS or understand how these investigations work.

My questions are:

  1. Is it normal for a caseworker to visit your home, say they’ll return, and then not contact you for 10 days?
  2. Could the lack of follow-up mean the investigation is progressing toward closure, or is there no way to tell?
  3. How can I find out whether my case is still open or has been closed?
  4. Has anyone experienced a DFCS investigation related to taking abortion medication? If so, what happened?
  5. Could an investigation like this affect my ability to bring my baby home from the NICU once he’s medically ready?
  6. Would you recommend contacting the caseworker directly, asking for a supervisor, or consulting an attorney?

I’m not looking for judgment about my circumstances or my decision. I’m genuinely looking for advice, information, and reassurance from people who understand the system or have experienced something similar.

Thank you to anyone willing to share their experiences or offer advice. ❤️

USA Worried about losing my job over medical absences

24F in NV
I started working at a behavioral health hospital about a month ago and recently found out I’m pregnant. I’m scheduled for a surgical abortion (D&C) and may need to miss two shifts for the procedure and recovery.
My supervisor previously told me to schedule pregnancy-related appointments outside of workdays, but this isn’t a routine appointment. Since I’m still new and have limited PTO, I’m worried these absences could put my job at risk.
I’ve lost a job in the past due to medical-related absences, so I’m especially concerned.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you handle it with HR, and did it affect your employment?
What did you tell them with such a short notice?

UK and Ireland Any pre-natal depression experience?

Has anyone else struggled with severely low mood and anxiety during pregnancy? I’m 13 weeks and having SA at 14. I truly don’t think I’ve ever felt this low in my life, and it’s not because I’m having an abortion but more so the hormones (I’m guessing) taking effect. It’s a real struggle at the moment I don’t feel myself at all and wondered if anyone’s experienced similar.

Than you in advance

USA I live in Texas and need help

I live in Texas and have a really conservative family and I don't really have any friends so I don't have anyone I can tell about this. I don't really know for sure if I'm pregnant or not. I have the odd cramps and morning sickness and a really strong gut feeling that I am, but the only pregnancy test I could get my hands on was negative (I probably took it too early though) and idk how I'm gonna be able to explain to my family that I might need an ultrasound. I used all of my savings to buy abortion pills but I don't think they worked since I had very little bleeding. I was around 8 weeks when I took them now I'm at 11 weeks and idk what to do. I'm unemployed and don't even have a driver's license despite being 18. I'm terrified to tell my family because I don't know what they would do. I'd probably get kicked out. I never thought I'd go through this but of course the moment I got the slight taste of freedom while hanging out with a guy I did what dumb teenagers do!

USA Surgical or medical which one better for me

Hey I’m 3 month postpartum and found out I m pregnant again. I have decided to get an abortion but I’m not sure which is the safest option for me since I m still recovering from vaginal child birth
If I get a medical abortion my concern is that I would loose a lot of blood and possibly risk to my health
If I get a surgical abortion I m afraid that it would damage my parts and getting pregnant in future would be difficult. Since I’m just 3 month postpartum I’m not sure what is the safest option here please advise

USA Did anyone else experience this?

After an abortion gone wrong I had to have a D&C in early August. I got my first period in September but my period this month is late, would be second post D&C. (There’s no possibility of pregnancy, I have ruled that out.) Did anyone else experience a normal first period and then have late or skipped periods afterward?

USA Im sad I’m getting an abortion on Thursday.

Hi. I’m 34f in MD and this is my first pregnancy. I found out a few days ago (I’m roughly 5 weeks) and have had so much grief. I just graduated grad school and began my career - it will be about another year and a half until I’m fully licensed to make a lot more money. My partner and I are still working through some stuff before we want to move forward seriously in our relationship. I know we would be great parents and I am immediately attached. I’m working on trying to detach because I scheduled a D&C this Thursday. I chose that route because I don’t want the trauma of the pill and I need to immediately know. I know it’s the best thing for a future child and for us right now, but I am so sad. I’m sad I cannot be excited about this pregnancy. I’m sad I have to keep it from my family because they’re against abortion. I’m sad that my best friend of my whole life is pregnant right now and I can’t do that with her.

I’m worried that I’m not going be able to be pregnant again. This really made me realize I want to be a mom. I feel pregnant. The changes in my hormones and body. I’m sad I can’t do it for longer.

Europe My surgical abortion experience in Latvia (Vacuum Aspiration, ~6 weeks) A story of relief, recovery, and self-care.

(Note: My English is actually good, but I used AI to help polish and translate this post to ensure that medical terms are accurate and everything is crystal clear for everyone to understand!)

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my story here on to give back to this supportive community. I hope my experience can help someone who is currently feeling scared or overwhelmed.
Our Decision
My partner and I love children, but we had to make the difficult decision to have an abortion. First of all, we are currently (a bit ) slightly overweight and actively working on our health/fitness to achieve a better quality of life. My boyfriend also just recently got a new job at a great company, and I work in mid-level management, so I still have professional growth ahead of me. We both felt strongly that before bringing a child into the world, we need to work on ourselves first , our physical health, stability, and future foundation.
It was a tough decision and it brought us pain, but we know that feeling sad or mourning what could have been is completely normal.

The Timeline & Diagnosis Confusion
My last menstrual period (LMP) started on August 22nd.
My first ultrasound was on October 1st. The fetus was measuring very small, so the doctor initially suspected a missed miscarriage (missed abortion).
I was sent to re-check my hCG levels. The first reading on Oct 1 was 488, but my next test came back at over 21,000.(13.10 after gyn visit).
On October 14th, my gynecologist called me in urgently for another ultrasound. They located the embryo and dated the pregnancy at around 6+1 weeks (instead of the expected 7–8 weeks based on LMP).
In Latvia, there is a mandatory 72-hour waiting period after the initial consultation. Right after leaving my gynecologist’s office on October 14th, I booked my procedure as soon as possible.

Why I Chose Surgical (Vacuum Aspiration)
I specifically chose surgical vacuum aspiration over medical abortion (pills) because I know myself , I’m a bit of a softie, and after reading way too many stories on Reddit, I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle the process at home mentally or physically.
Surgery Day (Today)
Fasting: Fasted completely (no food or water) for 8–9 hours before the procedure.
The Process: Honestly, the scariest part is just being in the ward and walking into the operating room.
The IV Line: I had a bit of a mental breakdown in the operating room, mostly triggered when they inserted the catheter into the back of my hand (dorsum of the hand) which was a very sensitive spot for me!
Anesthesia & Waking Up: The anesthesia kicked in quickly, and before I knew it, I woke up in my hospital room feeling an overwhelming wave of relief.
Post-Op & How I Feel Now
I woke up quickly after the anesthesia. At first, I actually had a brief fit of giggles (I attribute that entirely to the anesthesia waking-up phase!).
Physically, I currently have mild cramping, very similar to normal period cramps. I’m resting in my room for the required 2-hour observation period and waiting to talk to the doctor.
I plan to update this post later regarding post-op care, as I know procedures and guidelines vary by region and country. But right now, I am at peace. There is a gentle sense of grief, but the heaviest weight is off my shoulders.
To Anyone Reading This:
Whatever decision you make, it is the right one for you and your life. And if you feel like you don't have a strong shoulder or partner to rely on, please remember: you have no idea how incredibly strong you truly are until you walk through this.
Sending so much love to you all. ❤️

Asia post-MA at 6 weeks, worried if it worked or not

hi, i had my MA yesterday using misoprostol-only regimen since mifepristone is unfortunately illegal in my country. the timestamps are roughly like this:

18/10
20.00 - took the first dose sublingually
21.00 - cramps started, felt like my usual period pain which is mild 3/10
22.43 - bleeding started, passed a decent sized clot about 3-4 cm
23.00 - took the second dose sublingually
23.30 - cramps got worse to 6/10, bleeding got heavier

19/10
00.30 - probably the peak of it, cramps got to the worst point 8/10, passed a bigger clot in the toilet about 5-6 cm
01.30 - passed another clot of similar size, cramps started to ease down
02.00 - passed another clot but smaller (much like the first one), then took the third dose sublingually
02.50 - got diarrhea and passed another clot
04.50 - went to the toilet expecting another clot but nothing came out, just bleeding

after that i stayed up until 5 am, the cramps already got better but the bleeding still persists at this point.

then i took a fat nap until like 11 am, i woke up and my cramps are gone and my bleeding had lightened.

it is currently 9 pm and i feel like the bleeding has lessened significantly or even started to feel like spotting only. i’m worried since i often read that bleeding should be expected for a few days or weeks.

overall i’ve only used 3 pads as of now since the beginning of my first dose. however i used maternity pads which is bigger by length and capacity.

is this normal? should i be worried that it’s failed or incomplete?

USA Boyfriend has a very specific exception to supporting my hypothetical choice to abort (PA, USA)

TLDR: my boyfriend and I have different views on abortion in specific scenarios and we might break up over a single hypothetical scenario in which I chose to terminate a wanted pregnancy due to trisomy 21.

Me (30F) and my boyfriend of 8 months (32M) have been talking very seriously about of difference in wants for kids. He’s a 100% yes and would do anything to have a child, I spent most of my life as a no and in this relationship and with age come to around a 65% yes with some clearly defined limits around equitable parenting and my right to terminate even a wanted pregnancy.
He’s approached all this from a really understanding place, and isn’t trying to change my mind or sway me, but we’re at the point in an early relationship that we’re evaluating real life compatability.
We had the big talk this past week, and I feel like he assuaged a lot of my fears about equitable parenting and balancing work and children. He’s still worried by the uncertainty of being with someone who’s not 100% sure even though I said if he’s someone I ultimately can see myself having kids with I would be 100% committed to the decision. An even thornier issue came up though.

I stated that I want to test for everything and would terminate for any trisomy, even Down syndrome because I do not, in my current understanding of myself, have the capacity to parent a disabled child when there was an option to spare myself that harm, and the harm to a child from a parent who isn’t capable.

He agreed that testing and terminating for conditions that “significantly harm” me or a child is something he’d support, just not in the case of downs. He expressed he is hesitant to even test for downs and would be opposed to terminating a wanted pregnancy on those grounds. He revealed that he had very fond memories from childhood of an uncle who was an adult with downs and that he doesn’t believe the condition is incompatible with life in the same way as other conditions. I think this is an emotional opinion for him, since his knee jerk reaction was “I’m just imagining if my uncle never existed.” So I feel like I’ve hurt him here by unintentionally invalidating his uncles life.

I am 100% hard line pro choice, safe abortion on demand without apology, and it’s clear that even though he’s nominally pro-choice and says it’s “my body my choice” he carves out a big exception to his own support of the choice to abort and his views on its ethical acceptability for downs based on his lived experiences, and I think it’s in great danger of breaking us up. To him, it’s not about me being on the fence anymore, it’s about this.
I was initially really triggered because I felt like he was challenging my autonomy by saying that in that scenario it would be the abortion or him, and I don’t think that’s really a fair choice or right to say to someone if you also say you support their right to choose.

I’ve calmed down since last week and I’m less triggered and angry now, and I don’t want to break up over a hypothetical when it’s only been 8 months of seeing eachother and not as much as we’d like/a “normal” couple because his work schedule has been both demanding and unpredictable and has sent him into burnout.

I’ve arrived at the thought that neither of us have ever actually experienced this scenario, we are not currently in this scenario, and there are slim odds we would ever be in this scenario, and there’s much bigger parts of comparability and commitment we have yet to discuss or explore. We haven’t even discussed moving in or marriage yet! But he wanted to know how I felt about kids in order to proceed.
The last question I asked him via text was this:
“I guess when it comes down to odds we’d even face this scenario it’s 1 in 350 at age 35, with that gradually becoming more likely up to like more than 1 in 100 by 40+. And are those odds slim enough to roll the dice and maybe face a partnership-ending decision that far down the line because both of us cannot imagine being able to live with the choice on opposite sides? Or is this really the fork in the road moment now before we are committed in that way and have a whole long term partnership on the line, rather than an imagined future partnership? “
He has yet to answer that, though he did the next day text me saying he hopes I have fun on my weekend trip with friends, which I thanked him for (that text is still on delivered). My friends (all pro choice women) all think he’s being illogical and kind of an ass.
I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to break up if we can avoid it.

After having completed a MA teo weeks ago I am uncertain it was successful due to pregnancy symptoms remaining. I am booked to go to my gynaecologist tomorrow for a scan, they are not aware I had a MA but are aware I had severe bleeding two weeks ago. Would they be able to tell I did a MA If if was incomplete?

USA my 5 week abortion experience aid accesss (not bad just emotional)

Long story short I tested positive 8 days after taking a pregnancy test that was negative to make my friend feel better after she found out she was pregnant so we were 2.5 weeks apart . I tested positive 10/14/26 I knew in my heart that I wasn't ready to be a mom and that I'm not in the best situation with the father so I ordered pills off aid access I paid $50 and they came in the following friday. Saturday morning I took the miferprestone at work around 10am I felt completely fine I worked my whole shift and noticed immidiately that my boobs stopped hurting that was really my only symptom was painful boobs and I couldn't stop eating cheetoh puffs which is so disgusting because i hate them 😭😂. The next morning was very emotional and nerve wrecking for me I kept reading so many peoples different experiences it overwhelmed me and i began to second guess should I go through with it ultimately I did end up going through with it and took my 4 misoprostol vaginally ( I had taken 4 ibeprofuen before) About 30-45 min in I started to feel dull cramps but I have bad cramps on my period so it was nothing I couldn't deal with. I kept repeating the pills every 3 hours but was initially scared because It was only bleeding when I would wipe. I woke up this morning to more blood and definitley some diharrea. All this to say I was so scared and anxious that I was going to be unbearable pain but the earlier you are in the pregnancy the easier it is to pass this. It helped a lot because I had my friend with me who literally went through it all 2 days before me and my other best friend who was on my side as well with anything I needed. I just want to be here to let others know this is a scary and emotionally draining process but you can do it if i did it !
