Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 feeling… optimistic??

Post image
538 Upvotes

I originally went to post this about how I am struggling to see any changes in my appearance after being on Zep for a few months now & losing almost 30lbs. Don’t get me wrong! I was thrilled with losing the weight even if it didn’t change my appearance! I sleep better, snore less, and don’t eat out of boredom/ stress anymore! A few friends/ relatives have taken notice and complimented me on the loss but I never really saw much of a difference. I even still fit in the same clothes (the matching outfit in these pics were just a coincidence lol)

Then I went to make this post and add pics of myself before taking zepbound. I was pleasantly surprised when I put them side by side! I guess seeing yourself every day hides the tiny changes over time!

So yeah… very grateful for this med & really excited to see where this journey takes me from here!

For reference:
I stand about 5’1
Starting weight: 210ish lbs Now: 182.6!
Went from a BMI of 39.8 to 34.4 so I’m officially out of class 2 obesity and now I’m just regular class 1!

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 Getting closer to the goal: 10 months in

Long-time lurker, first time poster.

Mid 40s male in the Wisconsin. About as boring as mashed potatoes.

I've always struggled with weight. The chunky kid who hated gym class and liked ice cream too much. At my peak, I was around 245 lbs. Yet I was physically active: running, rowing, and trying to be active 5 days a week. The lowest weight I recorded previously was around 195 lbs, only to gain it all back. The food noise always won.

My indicators of health had been borderline unhealthy for years. High cholesterol and triglycerides, along with hypertension. In 2025, I learned I had sleep apnea and knew I had to make a change. In early 2025, I asked my doctor about going on Zepbound. He waved me off and said to exercise more and eat a Mediterranean diet, like I had not tried those things before. Found a new primary care doctor late last year and started on Zepbound in December.

What a change in 10 months. I started my journey at around 235 lbs. I weighed myself this morning at 165 lbs. The photo on the left was taken in January, the photo on the right was taken October 19, 2026.

The calming of food noise was astonishing, right from the first dose. I mindlessly snacked all the time, then on the weekends, enjoyed beer and bourbon more than I should have. Drinking and snacking went together. All those extra calories... Living in Wisconsin means alcohol is omnipresent.

Zepbound caused me to be intolerant of alcohol. The last drink I had was in mid-December last year. I don't miss it at all.

Three months into this crazy voyage, I went back to have a blood draw. This was the first time in my life I can remember having cholesterol and triglycerides in the normal range without taking a statin. What a change. I feel 10 years younger.

Diet: A lot of salads, grilled chicken, yogurt, fruit, and oatmeal. I have been targeting 150 g/day protein, but I'm not so good at tracking. Whey protein shakes have been a lifesaver.

Exercise: I took up hot yoga last winter and do two classes a week, run or use a rowing machine for cardio twice a week, and then round out my schedule with strength training twice a week. I aim to be active six days a week.

The mental health aspects can't be understated: I was an anxious person and carried a lot of trauma with me. It caused me to eat for comfort and when compounded with alcohol, was a bad combination. I focused on getting through a lot of that embodied trauma and came out the other side a changed person: I am much less anxious and more courageous as I go forward into the world. Therapy is for everyone. Just do the damn thing.

My outfit was very last minute this year but whoa what a difference!! (I meant to put 205 in that first one, typo. Also for reference I’m 5’8) the corset felt way more comfortable this year! I’m in maintenance now but still take the 2.5mg of zepbound for about a year and a half now and don’t plan on ever going off of it. I did gain 8lbs back briefly but somehow lost 5 lbs without trying this month but I’m okay as long as I stay within this range. I don’t want to lose anymore weight at this point. But feeling grateful for glp1s! HUZZAH!

Down 25lbs and not ONE person has noticed. So disappointed. I don't need validation but it sure would be nice for someone to notice the work put in.

Personal Insights Size.. denial?

I've lost 50 lbs this year. I can't fathom in my brain how much my clothing size has changed. When I'm shopping I still reach for the largest size. At Costco I grabbed an XXL sweater thinking it would be too small. When I put it on I'm swimming in it. I ended up getting a MEDIUM! I just can't believe that I am no longer a plus size in clothes. Anyone else?

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 Finally in the next decade

I have been not as strict the past few months so I wouldn’t call it a stall as much as I was just enjoying my birthday and summer. Great thing is I didn’t gain any, but I was between 170-173 for the past two months. I finally was able to break through and lock in the past two weeks and got into the 160s, now putting my eyes on the 150s. I’ve made it a point to try and celebrate even the small wins as I continue on this journey.

Personal Insights Sharing positive experience with pregnancy post-zep (now 9w postpartum)

Hello old friends!

For context: I was on Zep for roughly a year and a half and lost about 160lbs. I felt absolutely great.

My first pregnancy in 2024 was complicated by gestational hypertension, turned pre-eclampsia. And while I was very very grateful that all ended up being okay, this was a huge driver in deciding to get on Zepbound and make permanent lifestyle changes.

In late October of last year I weaned off of zep (as directed by my endocrinologist), and in December I was pregnant. I was terrified I would gain all of the weight back that I lost + potentially even more. I’d heard horror stories. But I’m happy to report that wasn’t the case at all. I did gain roughly 40lbs in total during my pregnancy. But I also gained that amount during my first pregnancy— seems like that’s just how my body does it! I truly didn’t have ravenous hunger and was able to manage really easily.

My second pregnancy was entirely uncomplicated and I did not have preeclampsia again! So a huge win!

I’m now coming up with a plan with my medical team about when exactly to get back on, but my weight has remained pretty constant postpartum. I lost a little bit after I had my baby (~10lbs) but have stayed pretty much exactly the same while breastfeeding (I will say I’m ravenous while breastfeeding lol but that’s to be expected from my understanding)… I’m excited to start again when it makes sense to do so (I’m not planning on starting until I’m done with breastfeeding, while the research seems promising and my endocrinologist wasn’t opposed to a GLP-1 while breastfeeding, I am too nervous of a person to ever do so). I’ll update again with how that goes for me postpartum as well in case any moms out there find that informative. Hopefully I respond well again and am able to get back to where I started or even a bit lower (my goal weight was always TBD based on how I felt)

TLDR: if you’re on Zepbound and get pregnant or are thinking of coming off to get pregnant it is possible to make it through and have a largely positive experience without gaining all of the weight back!

She said I know this is odd to say but when you walked in your side profile, you are so skinny now. Kinda felt good considering I did 70 on my own and another 35 so far on Zep at 5mg currently. Weighed in at 203 this past Saturday, not bad for a soon to be 47 year old tomorrow divorcee guy.

Spent a week in Europe and walked 8+ miles every day with my friends and didn’t feel like death when we decided to skip lunch because we had a big breakfast, never had to stop the group to sit down. I feel amazing.

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 Hard to believe what I am seeing!

I have struggled with my weight for so long it had consumed my life. Depressed, and feeling like there was no way out.

I have just bumped up to the 5mg shot this past Saturday and I cannot believe what I have so far.

I understand water weight will be a big part of this but it sure felt good seeing 19 lbs gone in the first month!

I am even breathing better and have more energy already while not being hungry! Drink lots of fluids and water!

If you are thinking about trying it and on the fence, don't be like me and wait a few years! Start your new life now! You are worth it!

Vent/Rant Frustrated

I’ve been on Zepbound since July. I was on 2.5mg for 4 weeks and have been on 5mg ever since. I’ve lost 26 pounds but haven’t dropped a size and don’t see a noticeable difference in myself. Where is the weight coming from? When did you start dropping sizes or noticing a change in the way you look? It’s just weirding me out and frustrating me because I guess I expected to be wowed with this much loss. I started at 260lbs and am now at 234lbs for reference. I’m 5’6”.

Vent/Rant My favorite food isn't my favorite anymore

I used to love spaghetti with ragu sauce (the brand) but just had it for dinner and it just tasted too sweet. I was so excited for it too. This is the second time this has happened (previously I got a donut as a treat and when I took a bite it was just.....bad)

I feel awful about it bc I have ADHD, my body already has a hard time giving me.dopamine, so to lose a source of it just. Makes me depressed. And it's not like my changing taste buds are making me like new things, I'm just starting to not like what I used to like with nothing to replace it. I hate it

Tips/Tricks How often should I weigh myself?

I’ve been on Zepbound now since Friday and doing pretty well. No side effects until this morning. Felt a bit nauseous but ok. Just feeling extremely full all the time. I weighed myself on Friday before I took my shot at 5:00. Should I wait until this Friday to weigh myself again or weigh every day?

Diet/Health/Exercise Maybe I really am making progress?

I had a big stupid post on here a couple days ago. I've been feeling frustrated that I'm still eating junk and stuck in bad habits.

However:

Yesterday I got pizza. In my past, I have been known to binge an entire large pizza in minutes. I only ate 3 slices, and just now put the rest in the freezer in individual bags.

I still have Halloween candy left. In my past, I would have binged all of it in a day or two.

I have been going to the gym, and I am feeling more confident on some of the weight machines.

I think I am over-focused on this stuff, partly because I'm currently reading the book Weightless, so even my "relaxation time" of reading is a book about weight.

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 247 to 187 lbs in 4 months. Had a few rough weeks but finally made it!

Thumbnail gallery
16 Upvotes

Started at 247 lbs and I’m currently at 187 lbs, so about 60 lbs down in 4 months.

It definitely wasn’t all smooth. At one point I completely stopped losing weight for a few weeks, which was pretty frustrating. After increasing my dose, the weight started coming off again.

The side effects were probably one of the most annoying parts. Some days I felt totally fine, other days not so much. I started tracking my symptoms and injection days with an app called Rekomp, and it helped me figure out which days after my shot were usually the worst.

I also tried to keep my protein intake high because I was worried about losing muscle along with the weight. Rekomp helped a lot with that too since I could track my daily protein without having to log every single calorie.

Still have some work to do, but I’m really happy with the progress so far.

Anyone else hit a plateau and only started losing again after going up in dose?

Side Effects I feel not good

I’m four weeks in and down 14lbs (SW 230). My clothes already fit more comfortably. But I feel lousy. I should take my 5th shot (2.5) tomorrow but ugh. Up until this week, I would take the shot, be nauseated for a few days, and then feel better. This week, I’m still nauseated and had a horrible headache yesterday. I’m tired. I’m using a food tracking app and logging my food. Could work on getting more green foods and maybe more protein. Welcome thoughts from others.

Personal Insights mixed feelings - follow up!

first off — I want to say the sincerest thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who commented on my last post. i cried reading all the sweet replies, encouragement, and camaraderie you all shared, and i still go back to reread your words when im feeling unsure.
i started zepbound shortly after that post, thanks to all of you!

the cons first, to get the bad out of the way:
the needle. i had NO idea how deep my fear of needles ran! the first shots caused nearly two hours of tears and panic so bad it made my teeth chatter. i have the single use pen and i think the anticipation of the click makes it worse. you all were right, the shots only hurt a tiny bit and i’m truly not afraid of them, but the mental block is crazy! i can’t even have my partner do it for me because the loss of control scares me even more. but on the plus side, the most recent shot only took me a half hour, and ive learned the lower part of my stomach is the least sensitive area. it’ll take time, but time is passing!
i also have had some side effects, primarily really intense but really short waves of nausea? my body will randomly be 100% convinced i’m going to puke for about two minutes and then i’ll be fine. this happens a couple times a day, usually around the peak of the shot’s effectiveness.
lastly, i haven’t seen any weight loss yet, but im only on the lightest dose as of now and honestly weight loss was not my main goal anyway.

the pros: the food noise is all but gone. it’s insane to eat and actually feel full, to not be constantly thinking about when my next meal is and to actually feel full!! the first time i ate a meal and decided i wanted to save the rest for later because i was full (and not sick full, just comfortable and happy full) was magical. it’s mind blowing that people normally feel like this! i would take the medicine just for this, even if i never lost weight. it feels so good to enjoy food and have it be a tool to fuel my body + a treat to make me happy, and not a compulsion i have to fulfill all the time.
im at the same amount of calories i was before trying zepbound when i was attempting to lose weight with just diet and exercise. then, i felt underfueled and exhausted all the time. i would regularly feel nauseous with how hungry i was. now, i feel totally normal, and if im hungry, a snack actually helps to curb that hunger!
zepbound has also given me the confidence to return to the gym. it’s hard to find the time between full time school and part time work, but now that the gym actually makes me feel better instead of just sore and tired and hungry, i find myself looking forward to going!

i move up to the next dose week after next and am so excited to see what the future holds. any tips would be greatly appreciated!
again, thank you all so much for your support. i’m so grateful to have access to this medicine and for the wonderful community here! <3

F23, 2.5
SW: 315 lbs, GW: 250/whatever makes my body feel the best!

First Timer Where do you inject

Hey y'all - I took my first dose last week and of course it didn't hurt but it was super nerve wracking to have to do it in my stomach. I'm hoping I did it correctly as I didn't really have any good or bad effects at all. It was also kinda hard to push it down (I have the kwikpen) Any tips on injecting or where do you feel most comfortable? Have a great rest of your week 🎉😌
