Lone Wolf gamebooks
Friends wanted to borrow these because they couldn't afford Waldenbooks. No way, you'll crease the spine! (I was the kid that couldn't afford them)

Anyone thinking about hip replacement?
Not a fun topic and it may be way too early to be thinking about this but anyone in the market for a hip replacement? I have a family history on both sides and the last year I’ve started having pain that no amount of stretching fixes. I have a very active job and recently lost 70 lbs to try to take the strain off my joints, but the pain is still here. Trying to determine if it’s better to do it at a younger age or wait until I’m older.

Discussion To those with older parents: how did you discuss end of life arrangements?
My father died a decade ago. My mother is fit and busy, but also 78 years old. I do not know what my responsibilities will be when she passes. I have tried to ask her, but she immediately gets defensive and implies that I just want inheritance or am “already standing by” her “open casket”.
She lives in Canada, I live in Europe. Her house is my childhood home, and contains 50 years of accumulated stuff. How will I cope with that? She says only that her “affairs are in order”, but I don’t have her lawyer’s name, her bank info, or any of her passwords or login info. She has money (collecting her own pension, my father’s pension, rental properties, etc), savings, investments, and owns the house outright. I don’t know how to deal with any of it when the time comes.
Any tips appreciated. I don’t even know who the executor of her will is.

Top Guitar Riffs from the ‘90s?
This is always subjective because musical tastes vary so wildly. But I think I can agree with 8 out of 10 of these.

Looking for Meaning in All the Wrong Places...
Approaching my 43rd birthday and this year (like the last several) I'm getting nothing but depressed at another year passing and feeling like it was another meaningless year wasted, but I can't figure out how to change it.
Was blessed to be born very intelligent and creative, but anxiety and depression have done their damndest to make sure my "gifts" aren't utilized to their fullest.
Haven't gone on a date in over 10 years - my past girlfriends, female relatives and the media have left me feeling I could never trust a woman with being a major part of my life - which is a shame as I would like to find someone special to share my life with.
Don't have any friends, I lost them all over the last few election cycles. Social relationships in general are very taxing for me, so this one's a bit of a double edge sword.
Followed my "heart" when I was younger, and it's left me with several dead-end retail jobs that barely pay enough to have a stable life. The idealism of my youth has screwed my older self.
I used to be a musician, but music barely brings me joy anymore - It's more background noise to distract me at this point. Haven't picked up an instrument in over a year.
I used to love gardening, but now when I do garden its all science and drudgery and no magic, love or passion. Thinking of getting rid of most of my houseplants too.
I used to love beer and mead, but I had to give them up for my mental health - don't congratulate me on being sober, I'm seriously pissed about this one. I loved the history and science and the flavors you could create through fermentation. I got really good at it too; worked in the craft beer industry for a stint and almost opened up a meadery of my own, but that obviously didn't pan out.
Started using cannabis, and while it does help take the edge off, it's activating parts of my brain that's making me deal with emotions and parts of myself that I buried deep within myself many, many years ago as a "survival mechanism." Not sure I'm liking the person I was or am becoming. Had the thought the other day that my 25 year-old self would be disgusted with my current self. Still contemplating that mindfuck. Had the thought this morning that the greatest injury I could inflict on my enemies is wishing that their life became just like mine. Currently dealing with that mindfuck too.
I don't know why I'm even writing this - maybe I just needed to scream into the void for a bit. I'd love to be able to blame someone or something for where I am in life, but more and more I'm coming to realize that someone or something is me.
Anyone else feel utterly alone with no direction?
EDIT: To all those saying "sounds like depression" I respectfully say no sh*t Sherlock, I said it in my first point.
To those that suggest therapy, been doing it on and off for the better part of twenty years. Hasn't really done much but waste time and money I don't really have.

Discussion Did your house have a 2nd phone line at any point before you were 18?
Trying to figure out how common this was for our generation for something I'm writing set in 1996. We never had one, but I had friends who had a separate line for either a parent's work, or for the kids' friends to use. It would be extra helpful if your answer is yes (and you are comfortable doing so) to please share in the comments what your family's general financial situation was. Thanks fellow Xennials!
ETA: I'm very aware that not everyone had even one land line. This was not intended as a general discussion about phone lines. I was very specifically looking for info on how common having two lines was for a particular detail in what I'm writing. I know having two lines was something that was financially out of reach for many, if not most, families. That's why I asked about financial situations of those who had two.

Discussion Do the 90s feel like a lifetime ago to you?
I was born in 77 and was just thinking about how some people say it feels like yesterday but to me it doesn't at all. It almost feels like a different universe. My life as well as the world were a completely different place 30 years ago. Now I know how my parents and grandparents probably felt back in the day, but the changes over the past few decades I would say were even more apparent.

PB & Banana. Who's with me?
The Peanut Butter and Banana "sandwich" was a staple snack in my childhood. It's been a long time since i've had one of these.
