Hello, so I posted in here the other day looking for a 1990s Alfred Angelo dress.
Well, I went and tried dresses on today which may have changed my mind. So surprised in this options as not what I thought I'd like. The first id Morilee Goddess princess dress which was first dress I picked and first I tried on. It has no straps but added them (so they don't match in this). The 2nd is a Morilee Tanselle in ivory honey. Loved the colour and love them both.
The first nearly made me tear up and I nearly said yes, but now I have to decide to give up on finding the 1990s or go with these.
What are your thoughts on them? 😍

The dress in the picture I found on Pinterest after just getting engaged. I’ve found tons of dresses like this on Pinterest, idk if they’re AI or what but I cannot find a sexy corset ball gown with sheer back and sides if my life depended on it.
My wedding is in July 2027 and I was just told at a bridal salon today I basically need to pick a dress this week if I want any chance of it arriving and finishing alterations before the wedding. I’ve gone to I believe 6 bridal salons and I am really starting to spiral, because I honestly don’t think I’ll ever find a dress. I keep finding gowns I really love but there’s always at least one thing I’d change about them or they are just completely the wrong vibe for my wedding.
For context I LOVE fashion and style and all things clothes. Everyone who knows me knows how much I love to dress so this is extra disheartening for me. I am one of the weirdos who dreamed of her wedding dress for ages… and now this. To add insult to injury, my SIL just got married and wore the most fabulous ball gown this world has ever seen. I’m certain the guest who will attend both weddings won’t even remember my gown after seeing that. I’d always planned to get a custom dress but after doing a little research it seemed most people thought it was a really bad idea, and now I doubt I’d even have the time for that.
At this point, I don’t think the dress I want exist anywhere I’d have access to it. So as the title says, when should you just settle on a dress and accept you won’t get that special princess moment?

Thinking of altering the plunge so that it is closed, mesh removed, and is a sweetheart neckline. Hoping to hear other thoughts - should I change neckline and what would be best. Will be wearing this in and English church so ideally modest although they are quite relaxed.

Stuck between two options. First has been altered to fit, second one just so happens to fit decently. The first is very tight (not used to altered clothes). It’s an untraditional wedding but I love them both and am so torn!!

Alright ladies
I did my first dress try on since ordering it. It fit well and u love it! However I’m struggling with some areas since I did gain some weight from the time of ordering to today.
I’m currently trying to lose weight but I’m curious what exactly I can do to shrink these areas by Feb for my first measurement appointment?
The only way I know to lose weight is the unhealthy and quick way (ifkyk) which I don’t wish to return to. So I have no idea how losing weight the healthy way works and can take any and all advice possible! (:

My mom really wants me to wear her dress which I really do like! My only complaint is the chest area looking off and having my bring the shoulders in. Do yall think this is possible ?

Lots of uncertainty and stress, but it was all worth it in the end. Thank you all for all advice and suggestions, Reddit is the best! ❤️

My first fitting is coming up and I'm very unsure about my bustle style. It's an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour with indoor reception. We're not big dancers so it's more like a dinner party than a crazy dance floor. I like clean simple lines without excess volume. I'm leaning towards a simple wristlet style, but I'm unsure if that works logistically. What bustle style would you suggest?
I'm open to other alterations feedback too.

Hi everyone. I’m interested in this dress and would appreciate some advice. My budget for tailoring is $700, but want to save if I can. I’m in the SF Bay Area.
I’m 5’2 with a short torso and the original cut of the dress is not flattering on me (pic 2). I’d love to bring it up to my natural waistline or eliminate that torso section altogether so it falls in a different shape (pic 1). I’d also considering getting it hemmed to tea length because our wedding is daytime/casual (a nice brunch restaurant).
If this is deemed possible, I’m going to try it on again and take more detailed photos to send to tailors for quotes. Just wanted to get preliminary feedback before moving forward.
Has anyone tailored this dress, or something similar? What did you spend?
Also, any tips to manage the chest area? I wouldn’t want much cleavage showing, or for my chest to be sagging because there’s not much structure to the dress. Boob tape, sticky bra, etc?
Thanks!

I have always loved boho style dresses, and I'm also very anti-tradition in general (but especially when it comes to weddings). This dress is so beautiful and I love it so so much. My wedding will be in September of next year so I just don't want to jump the gun too much. I'm also afraid of it not being "bridal" enough (even though I don't really care about that) and also there's not a ton of structure in the bodice so I'm not sure if boning would be able to be added after the fact (if it even needs it, I'm not sure)
For context: my wedding venue is a cottage inn by the lake, and it'll be a whole weekend getaway (2 night stay for all guests). My fiance and I want it to be a very relaxed vibe, it's not going to be super formal at all, and I feel like this dress would potentially go with that.
I am also diagnosed ADHD and struggle heavily with impulsive decisions so I'm just hoping that's not involved in how I feel right now :') thanks for any feedback!

I am not a big shopper and usually take months to decide on a pair of pants or tennis shoes so I'm having a very hard time navigating the wedding dress world. From a few appointments at different stores I have sort of settled on an A line or Ball gown with simple detail. I thought I really wanted longer sleeves but that has proven difficult to find. There is no strict modesty requirement but I do prefer maybe a more traditional style. I am stuck between 3 dress I tried at a recent appointment or continuing to look. Im having a hard time with the idea of deciding on the dress very quickly and then having to be happy with choice for 8 more months. Im too indecisive...
Option A:
Dress with ribbon around bottom. I liked this one a lot in the picutres. The main issue is it has an illusion plunge neckline which isnt really my style. I really would like a slightly higher neckline and also am not a fan of the illusion on myself. I would like to get that altered but im not really sure what is and isn't possible. The stylist put a piece of fabric inside to cover it but im not sure if that alone makes it look good. I included a drawing with what im imagining but im not sure if it is actually possible. The bow in the back comes off but i didnt get a photo of that. This is off the rack and fits fairly well on its own. It is $499.

Option B:
Dress with higher neck line and wider sleeves. When i tried this one on I really likes it. It was definitely the one I was most excited about trying it on. Except it is a very bright white compared to the other dresses (I have included a photo of A and B side by side for color comparison). When I looked at the photos I thought it kinda looked dated and I also realized that the back is very plain. This one would need to be ordered and it is $1250. I asked and it only comes in one color.

Option C:
This one was really too big in store and I hard time visualizing it while trying it on. I really like the back but I feel like it is nothing special in the front. It also has an illusion plunge neckline which I would like to have altered potentially. This one is also $499 off the rack but may have to be altered a bit more since it fit a lot looser than option A.

Or should I keep looking? I usually compare items to death before picking even for minor purchases but it feels very awkward going to multiple appointment since the stylists have to give you a lot of time and attention. Please advise.

Picked up my dress over the weekend (first two pictures) alterations is for January since I’m still toning up, and wedding is in April.
Unsure of what I could do for veil options, slides 3-5 are veils I tried with the sample during my initial appointment. Should I just do simple + glitter? Would it be okay or too much to have embroidery? Length?? All of these things for feedback on styling are welcome.

After 5 shops, dozens of dresses I was beginning to lose hope that I would get that "THIS IS MY DRESS" feeling. I was beginning to think I was going to settle between 2 dresses I really liked but wasn't 100% sold, but I was so tired of shopping. At the 6th shop, I told my bridal consultant all of my woes and maybe I needed to try something different that I haven't tried before. She brought me some magnificent gowns to try on that I wouldn't have dared to try on before that shop. The first dress I put on, my best friend, my sister in law, and I were all in tears. I have truly, never in my life felt so beautiful, so confident, and in awe of a gown in my life.
When it came time to order my dress, they asked if I wanted to order it lined or unlined as the bodice had satin demi cups and sheer corset bodice with pearl, lace and beaded detail. I thought lining it would cause the details to get lost a little. Additionally I was already so in love with how it looked, so I ordered it un lined.
Fast forward a few weeks, I see on the bridal shop social media post a reel featuring my dress and everyone in the comments were absolutely ripping my dress to shreds saying that it looked like a night gown, who would want to get married in lingerie etc.
I also saw other posts on lined vs unlined bodice debates, some i think are more beautiful lined and some I liked better unlined.
I started to second guess my decision.
I chat gpt'd what it would look like lined and I'm torn.
Do I leave it unlined or line it? My dress won't come in until mid to late April so I have time to stew on it...
What are your opinions?
First 3 photos original unlined
Last 3, lined
**UPDATE: Firstly, Thank you for all of your comments and I've enjoyed reading through them! I promise to post pictures when the wedding happens so that can show you all what I decided!
Just a few clarifications:
As for modesty standards and having our grandparents see my forbidden negligee 🫢... all grandparents on both sides have passed.. all parents have seen me in a bikini. My bio parents have either passed away or not in the picture (mental illness). My adopted dad is most likely not going to be there due to some drama I won't discuss here, so in terms of modesty I'm not concerned about what my parents or his parents think.
The slit stops where you see it but the majority of the time the skirt is so big that it covers it and I had to go out of my way to make it appear. I don't really want to pay more for a silly alteration that isn't noticeable the majority of time.
In terms of venue. It will not be in a church, as my fiance and and I are both not religious. It will be small and intimate 30-50 people. If i had it my way it would be smaller. We are big nature people so we are considering:
-Tuscany, Italy
in the mountains of Colorado, Portland, Washington (maybe banff?)
northshore of Minnesota (lake superior)
Why did I get the dress before the venue? - were trying to get married in the next 12 months. He proposed in the beginning of September(a month ago). We were aiming for early summer or sooner but we're at the mercy of my dress arriving and alterations (I couldn't find a dress off the rack or else we would have tried to get married even sooner!). I picked a dress that I'd feel confident and beautiful wearing at all the venue contenders. Yes I will be 100% hauling that dress up a mountain and getting ready in nature for epic mountain shots!
What I may consider when I bring it to the seamstress, i may entertain a removable bodice at least the front half. I do enjoy how it looks both ways. I do feel myself in the unlined bodice, how ever, the softness that an opaque lining could bring based off of the chat gpt image.
Alternatively I could entertain a nude or add more sheer layers of fabric to the bodice to add some opacity without losing the detail of the lace and beading - thus making it look like a completely different dress (because unlined vs lined look starkly different to me!)

Hey all,
I am looking for this vintage wedding dress. I believe it is an Alfred Angelo from the 1990s. When I tell you, I have searched high and low for this, I am not exaggerating. It is genuinely my dream dress and cannot think of wearing anything else.
I am due to try on dresses this weekend and I know I won't have a great experience as this is all I can think of.
I have been trying for months and there must be someone out there with this dress that is collecting dust in a wardrobe.
I am a UK size 8 and live in the UK and I know this predominantly seems to be in the US and of course I will pay postage.
Please help a hopeful bride to be 🤞

Hi! My fiance and I are eloping in Hawaii next week. I don’t want a full on wedding dress but I do want a white long dress for the beach and a second one for the mountains.
Preferably, I want one that’s flowy and another that’s silk.
Do you guys have store recommendations? I’ve looked everywhere it feels like. I’ve checked revolve, reformation, Meshki, arotagas, asos, house of cb, arcina ori, and I’m having the hardest time.
Budget is about 800 for both dresses. Thanks ladies!

I am 3.5 weeks out from my wedding and, of course, I can’t help but obsess over the way my dress looks. I’ve loved my dress since the day I tried it on, but it doesn’t look quite right.
I realized that the bust just doesn’t look smooth at all. The first photo is the day I tried my dress on, and the cups are noticeably smoother and have much more shape.
The second photo is the day I picked up my dress from the bridal store. You can see that the bust isn’t as smooth and structured. The third photo is my dress today after alterations. The bust area is still bothering me, and I cant help but feel like I should try and get some padding added within the lining of the top. There are cups sewn onto the inside of the dress, but I don’t think i like how you can see so much of the boning/seams in the bust. I do have a sticky bra that I’m wearing to give the girls some lift and it looked great, but I don’t have a picture with it on. It also looks like the seamstress may have taken in too much of the fabric that drapes across the bust.
Unfortunately the bridal shop had me order a larger size than I needed, so I had to get quite a lot taken in on the dress. I’ve spent over $1k on alterations already and I’m just so stressed that I still need more done. Am I overthinking this, or should I try and have something done to the top? Is any of this fixable?
UPDATE: I called my seamstress and she can squeeze me in tomorrow. She’s going to try and add some padding inside the top of the dress (open the seam and put it between the two layers). And fix the front drape. Thanks for your suggestions everyone!!
