Happy 1st of the month r/WarhammerFantasy!

In the spirit of growing the community and allowing folks to advertise events and tournaments that they are running or planning to run, we are going to be setting up a thread each month to be sticked so folks can post any events or tournaments that are coming up. Please post your event with a format that includes the following:

  • Name of the Event + a description
  • Location of the Event or if it's Online just say it's Online
  • Date & Time of the event
  • Who to contact for more information
  • Feel free to add any other details that any interested participants may need to know.

Hopefully this thread finds some use and folks are able to make use of it to get word of their events out there!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the mod team through Mod Mail.

Medium-er Daemons of Khorne (and flesh critters)

As I near(ish) completion of my storm of chaos era mortals army of khorne, I’ve hit the start of this years Call of the Crown Challenge, for which I’ll be building and painting some less typical deamons units.

Starting with this unit of ‘medium-er daemons of Khorne’ using Heroquest gargoyles as a basis with milliput and greenstuff. Theyre on 25s and they’re big spread out lads, so I’ve gone with alternating basing, and put a few ‘flesh critters’ in with them (epic flesh hounds).

I decided to go without wings so some work needed on the bask to add an armpit panel, then on the shoulders to make it feel more like it overlaps in the right order.

Lore/Books/Questions Tyrion on Star Dragon kitbash question

Post image

Would the classic Tyrion mini fit on one of the plastic High Elf dragons? I figure it would need a decent amount of conversion just to support the poor dragon's neck, but would it need a lot of cutting/filing otherwise? Any advice from somebody with the actual mini in question would be greatly appreciated.

Lore/Books/Questions Kislev Prophecy

• Upvotes

So in kislev there's a prophecy that one day a male sorcerer will appear and taint the winds of magic and that's why there's a ban on male sorcerers there, do we have any idea who could have been the person this prophecy was talking about or did it get left completely unresolved.

As many zombies as will fit in a 500 point Battle March list for a special Halloween scenario I'm running next week.

Would your Battle March army survive against 7 units of 20 zombies each? Will I get them painted in time? We'll see.

The Old World Does this read more as Bretonnian or Chaos warrior?

I wanted to kitbash a Baron on Hippogryph for my Bretonnian army, and I decided to stick a ‘verisian knight’ onto a manticore model I ordered online.

Joseph ‘Nordsplitter’ Montesson is a veritable mountain of muscle and body hair, borne of kislevite and bretonnian nobility.
He rides into battle atop a vicious manticore that he wrangled into submission and tamed with the his bare hands, aiming to trounce those who threaten his homeland and bring honor to the Montesson name.

Lore/Books/Questions Why Dark Elves despite being inventor of Dark Magic didn't use any kind of Necromancy?

Such is the power of Nagash bla bla...But still it left me curious why elder races of Warhammer never think of raising corpses unlike a random human priest who didn't even born in a magical society like Elves

Art/Memes My fellow Middenlanders..

I have now spent all my savings…my kids college funds, and basically everything I own on old Middenheim miniatures 🥺.. so before I completely ruin them with a terrible paint job, I wanted to ask my fellow wolf-loving wolf furry screwing followers of Ulric for some inspiration ‼️

How did you paint yours? I’d especially love to see your colour schemes for armour, wolf pelts, cloth, shields, bases, etc. So far I’ve managed to acquire Ar-Ulric Emil Valgeir, good old Boris Todbringer, Vorn Thugenheim 🐺 the wonderfully edgy banner-carrying one eyed bastard and I’ve also got some old metal Knights of the White Wolf on the way… for prices you cant even imagine in your fanatical Lupic heads… 🙂‍↔️

I absolutely love these old sculpts. There’s just something about old-school Empire models that the newer stuff can’t quite replicate right ?

And as a completely unnecessary fun fact for anyone who actually read this far 🐺 at first I was a little hesitant about choosing Middenheim ❌Middenland because the whole hard northern people, wolves, long beards, snow and warrior culture thing reminded me so much of the Starks from Game of Thrones and the Nords from Skyrim…. (I once took an arrow in the knee) I thought it might feel a little derivative.

Then I actually looked into the history of Warhammer and realised that Middenheim was doing the whole wolf-loving🐺, long-bearded northern badass thing long before either of those became famous. So clearly Skyrim and Game of Thrones copied Warhammer.
Those bastards. Anyway, thanks in advance for any painting advice or pictures of your armies!

Wolfy greetings 🐺

(sorry I let AI fix my grammar as im not a native speaker)

Lore/Books/Questions Elven banner query

I have a Lumineth Bannerlord model for a new High Elves army and being too scared to sand off the banner design, I am considering painting it as 50/50 Hoeth and Khaine, to represent different facets of war. Is this something high elves would do or is it turbo heresy?

Lore/Books/Questions Lore Question: Deep Magic, and how to do it

Hey guys, I need some help from lore and roleplay gurus, as my knowledge of the WHF world and its lore are very superficial. I hope this is the right community for this. If not, apologies.

In the context of WHF roleplay and writing stories in this setting, I'm currently creating an original character. She is a rogue half-Estalian/Cathayan (Born and grew up in Estalia) Blood Dragon vampire, formerly of the Knights of Irrana, a pirate, and a Deep Lore spellcaster, inspired by the Vampire Coast faction in Warhammer 2&3 and the Dreadfleet novel by Phil Kelly.

The issue I have is that said lore was invented for the games and doesn't seem to have a particular grounding within the existing lore, which is kind of an issue if I want to figure out what it would actually do in the setting, what it looks like, where you'd learn it, and how it would work. There isn't even an extended spell list or anything, but from what I can gauge, it seems to be a mix of nature magic perverted by Dhar or Necromancy. You have spells that manipulate water/weather, necromancy components, and spirit stuff.

From the Game:

“This lore summons the ocean’s deepest lurkers as well as augmenting those that give thanks to Manann and Stromfels by using arcane currents to disrupt the enemy or improve the proficiency of those that have salt-water in their lungs.”

  1. Kiss of the Deep (Passive Damage AoE): “No matter how far away, none can escape the Kiss of the Deep, nor breathe again with lungs full of seawater.”
  2. Tidecall (Breath Spell, summons a blast of water): “The sea is summoned, and a great tide coalesces upon the battlefield to drench all those that oppose the caster.”
  3. Spiteful Shot (buffs ranged unit with accuracy and magic projectiles): “Imbued with the purest hatred for the foe and all their ways, to better bring about an ignominious end.”
  4. Denizens of the Deep (Summons undead crab things): “Some things should never rise above the waves or be seen by mortal eyes.”
  5. Fog of the Damned (Debuff spell): "They'll never know how many we are in this fog… Attack!"
  6. Vangheist’s Revenge (Damage spell. Summons ghost ship): “Every mariner has heard the tale of Vangheist, and now his restless spirit is summoned on board the Shadewraith to deliver a devastating broadside.”
  7. Kraken’s Pull (Damage and movement-hampering spell): “Few have the strength to break free once the Kraken has them within its horrid, betentacled grasp.”

Searching for a map

So I’m searching for a specific map, and I hope this community can help me.

About 12-16 years ago, some friends and I started a Warhammer Fantasy campaign, and it all started in a town called Herringstadt. The GM showed us a map with the small town on it, and onward we went. Now, many years later, we’ve been searching for that map, but with no luck. So I’m hoping there are some great and amazing people here who might be able to help us.

We are searching for a Warhammer Fantasy map with the small town of Herringstadt. We think it is in the Wasteland of the Empire, but we could be wrong.

Looking forward to your help! 😄

You have to admit that you would laugh, too, if she'd bring out her hand puppet and declared "I'll crush you!"

The second of the Fortune Tellers for Abu Waansin's Frontline Circus Sideshow is done - another nice mini from Frostgrave Wizards 2. If you need good female heads for your minis, this kit is really good.
