I went through a lot of different iterations trying to come up with something that would be unique, flavourful, and in the tier 2 range. I wanted to achieve a few different things with the team:
- A non-elf, chaos take on an agility team
- Greed, temptation, pain appropriate skills and stats
At first I experimented with a Agi 3+ big guy, or instead doing two Str 4 Agi 2+ mini big guys with a new minor negatrait - Basic Instincts: on a non-block/blitz activation, roll a D6, on a 1-2 knock over a teammate or if not possible, end activation and lose your tacklezones. I couldn't make it into a roster that fit together and it felt a little close to vamps.
Eventually I got to the above that I'm pretty happy with! Gifts of Slaanesh and little G access tempts you to take fun mutations, turning you into a different take on an agile team, at the cost of reduced armour as your team develops - more pain all around. You can fully accept Slaanesh's corruption and greedily play lots of Agi 2+ players with few defensive skills after a couple of level ups - delicious targets for your opponent to block, but if they mess up Taunt will pull them into a vulnerable position.
Slaangor Fiendbloods: these have super cool minatures, so I worked hard to fit them in and match their appearance with skills. Blocking these will be very attractive for your opponents, but the counter blow the next turn if they aren't knocked over will be painful. These are also amazing blitzers and cage busters - I think that No Ball and AV 8+ is enough of a drawback that they're fair, they're going to be very vulnerable after blitzing a cage.
Warriors: Chaos Chosen stats, with Taunt instead of Arm Bar. Lots of unconventional options for a Str 4 as you level up - this isn't a player for those who want to take a vanilla Block as their first skill. One or two mutations will completely transform them, turning them into a unique slow, agile, fragile, expensive blocker.
Reveller: One of my initial ideas for the team was more carnival themed, which is where these came from. I thought of cutting them and making the Warriors 0-4 but I think the team would just be two weak in the first few games without them. With a mutation like Big Hands or Extra Arms plus the gift they can become great ball handlers and even try some passing.
Maruaders: Human linemen with more interesting level up choices. I gave them primary G access to try and avoid the team being to weak, although I'm worried it makes them the best player to put levels on.
What do you think? Does it completely miss the mark on tier 2? I'm confident it would be a fun team to play, and I don't think that Gifts of Slaanesh is too OP, you have to take a mutation to get it, which isn't normally a great use of TV, plus it's very expensive to combine with Block on most players. You have a huge advantage in having access to Str 4 and Agi 2+, but pay for it with limited G access and no starting Block.
I stuck to the GW pattern of just 6 positionals which made the costs for a starting roster tricky - I didn't want to give the Reveller Dodge to start with but the team wasn't expensive enough otherwise.
