Photo/Video GTA V Enhanced in VR… Sooo good

recorded at 60fps, playing at 144. Honestly the ray tracing and latest DLSS in this game has made it easily one of the best VR experiences to date for me. I’ve been losing sleep since I got this mod. its looks sooooooo good. I can’t stop playing. For anyone wondering, it’s the LR mod. hate all you want, but this is honestly fucking good. Looks so realistic.

Discussion Your most annoying common VR game design...

Mine is checkpoint-saving instead of having a save-anywhere/time option. Especially awful when the gaps between checkpoints are long.

I work nightshifts home-office and have two small kids: my VR-gaming time is during quiet phases in my shifts, but when I get an email/call or if my kids need me in the night: I immediately take off the headset and deal with the situation. It may be hours or even the next night before I put the headset on again, making me reliant on save-points.

Despite enjoying the initial stages of Lone Echo and Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners I gave up on them because I was interrupted and had to turn them off, and when reloading I was way further back than I wanted to be. This happened a few times and became tedious and frustrating to repeat sections I've already experienced. I like to take my time and explore/sink into the world. Speeding through to activate the next checkpoint isn't my style....plus often I have no idea when a checkpoint was even activated, so I'm playing and wondering 'when is the next checkpoint or when was the last one so i can take a break?'.

Bad game design. Not user-friendly. Not respectful of one's time.

Titanfall 2 VR is at least a good example of checkpoints done so regularly that it's not too annoying having to start again. One example is a battle in the early chapter while toxic waste is dumped and having to survive while it gets to "100% dumped". I died with around 70% dumped and I thought "ffs, do i have to start at 0% again?" but the game resumed at 50% dumped. While I still hate checkpoints, this at least is a little user-friendly.

Ideally, VR games all need a manual save.

What aspect of common VR game-design really grinds your gears?

Self-Promotion (Developer) My VR fighting game - new feedback please

• Upvotes

Hello,

After last 2 trailers I posted (for my beta game, not yet on Steam), I received a lot of feedback, rough one, but very helpful.

After feedback I improved characters bodies texture, but most important, now enemies really fight back, and react. Maybe is still not so visible in trailer, because of movies selection, but in game is really difficult not to get hit...

Opinions please!

Thank you!

Self-Promotion (YouTuber) We spent another month filming Europe in VR180! New 8K immersive travel videos every week, starting with Positano Italy

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

We're back with another month of European VR180 content!

Our videos from the first trip were really well received by this community, and they're all available on our channel. Thank you to everyone who watched, commented, and supported the project!

This time, I spent another entire month traveling around Europe, capturing coastlines, architecture, historic streets, colorful cities, and those little details that make you feel like you're actually there.

I love VR, but I think we could all use more high-quality immersive travel content. Official immersive productions are incredible, but new releases can be few and far between.

With Beyond VR Media, I'm trying to help fill that gap.

I've invested considerable time and money into camera equipment, stabilization, depth tuning, color science, and post-production to get as close as possible to premium immersive filmmaking without the multimillion-dollar budgets of major productions.

This isn't just a matter of pointing a camera at a landmark. It's about pushing the limits of what's possible for independent VR180 creators.

And there's a whole new month of content coming!

🇮🇹 THIS WEEK: POSITANO, ITALY

We're kicking things off on the Amalfi Coast!

Join me for an immersive VR180 journey through Positano, from the water and its spectacular hillside views to the colorful streets, local shops, and beachside atmosphere.

🎬 WATCH POSITANO IN 8K VR180 ON YOUTUBE:

https://youtu.be/aqEjiHwK6l0

HEADSET COMPATIBILITY

The videos are intended for VR180 viewing on major headsets, including Meta Quest 3/3S, Apple Vision Pro, Samsung Galaxy XR, and compatible PC VR headsets.

For the best experience, use a headset and video player that support high-resolution VR180 playback. YouTube's 8K playback support varies by device.

COMING EVERY WEEK: A WHOLE MONTH OF EUROPE!

I'll be releasing a new destination every week. The release order is still being decided, but here's a preview of what's coming!

🇵🇹 PORTUGAL

• Lisbon

• Porto

🇫🇷 FRANCE

• Nice and Monaco

• Paris

🇮🇹 ITALY

• Florence and Pisa

• Rome

• Salerno

🇳🇱 NETHERLANDS

• Amsterdam

🇧🇪 BELGIUM

• Brussels and Bruges

🇬🇷 GREECE

• Santorini

• Mykonos

• Heraklion, Crete

🇪🇸 SPAIN

• Barcelona

• Valencia

• Palma de Mallorca

• Cartagena

• Cádiz

• Motril

• Vigo

That's a lot of Europe to explore!

My goal is to make this a regular destination for anyone who wants more immersive travel experiences on their headset, with a new place to discover every week.

If you enjoyed the videos from our first trip, thank you for being part of this journey. If you're discovering Beyond VR Media for the first time, welcome!

Follow along for a new European destination every week.

Which of these cities would you most like to experience in VR180?

I haven’t seen enough people talking about BoBoVR B2 Battery 18650 1S2P Replacement, so I wanted to share these photos. It works pretty well, and since I haven’t burned my house down, I’m calling it a success. Hopefully this will help others who are researching whether this can be done or not.

Safety Warning: Lithium battery work carries risks. This is not a step-by-step guide, so please do your own research and only attempt it if you understand the risks and have the appropriate tools and experience.

Self-Promotion (Developer) Introducing Nightfall Meteor v0.8.1

Hi everyone, I'm excited to share the next evolution of my VR gamestream client Nightfall.

For those of you who do not recall, Nightfall is a VR first gamestream client developed primarily for the Quest 2/3/3s. What's special about it is that it does 2d-to-3d conversion on the headset, allowing you to watch 2d media and games in 3d.

Doing depthmap inference on the Quest is quite taxing on the hardware and it comes with a lot of limitations in order to get it to work at an exceptable level.

The obvious and easiest solution would be to move the processing to the host, however this means changing the code for Sunshine, Apollo, Vibepollo etc. etc. and every host under the sun. The amount of forks makes it difficult to really unlock the possibilities of what can be done.

So I have made Meteor - a small unintrusive app that you install next to your chosen gamestream host. It doesn't do anything too special right now, it acts as a proxy, takes the frames and create depthmaps out of them, on the fly. The Nightfall client automatically detects that Meteor is available and would use it for inference. This allows doing depthmaps at 120fps (or more...) and using much more powerful models.

At this time I have only added Video Depth Anything, as this is really fantastic for stability as well as image quality, but I will be investigating many more models.

This isn't too unsimilar to other host based realtime 3d services, but I think for flexibility and ease of use, I think it will be hard to beat.

This also opens the door to add more host based enhancements that would be extremely difficult to get matching changes into every host, so stay tuned.

This is a big update, and it's packed full of fixes and improvements. You can visit the release page for more info, but here is a summary.

  • USB link
  • Pyrowave codec
  • Custom trained EdgePad (ZipDepth) models with improved image stability and quality.
  • Microphone Passthrough (With Meteor)
  • 21 Language Translations
  • Improved hand tracking

Some caveats: - I honestly wouldn't use Pyrowave on the headset, since it's GPU intensive and takes away from Passthrough and AI 3d, but I can see a use for it by going the USB/Passthrough off/Meteor route, depending what you are doing with it. - Hand tracking is useable in order to get you into a stream/game, but I wouldn't really use it to try navigate a desktop.

Would really love people to try it out and give feedback, thanks for reading!

Release: https://github.com/tB0nE/nightfall/releases/tag/v0.8.1

PS. If you are feeling extra spicy, keep an eye out for (buggy)pre-release versions. The current dev version introduces a BROWSER. This means you can use Nightfall without a computer, watch youtube with the 3d effect, or even play XBox Gamepass! It's functional, but still in development!

Self-Promotion (Developer) An 🦦Otter, a 🐈Cat and a 🔗SPRING CONSTRAINT in Resonite

Playing with Colin The Cat's WIP Physics Constraint System. The system allows for body parts of avatars to be linked to targets and supports different types of constraints. So obviously we had to try connecting two avatars to each other.

What game mechanics do you think this could be used for?

Discussion The VR mods are going to make it mainstream.

I know how hard mods are to install and that they might not be very appealing to more casual users. But I feel it's definitely getting the fans of the specific games in, which leads to more and more people, and then to more developing. I am an example of that. I've been PC gaming since I was 10. I'm 30 now. I thought VR was a fad. You put in a helmet and you look at your bigger monitor, it's what I thought.

Then I saw that you could play Resident Evil there, the mod. And I thought to myself that would be so fun to play with my girl at night. Then just wondering what else was going on in the VR world, since theyre making mods now. So I end up buying a Quest 3. And oh boy, I had no idea how immersive the thing is.

What do you mean aiming down the sight is a skill, not just holding a button? You have to align the sights correctly and quickly. I couldn't see how fun reloading would be through a screen, watching someone else play. I didn't know that slicing blocks to the sound of music or dodging bullets like the Matrix as time stands still would be the most fun I've had playing video games in years.

And guess what, I still haven't even downloaded the RE mod yet. Too busy playing Alyx, Beat Saber, Superhot, Gunman Contracts.

All of that from the fact I thought playing horror here would be a great idea. So I think the explosion into the mainstream is coming. I don't think I could ever go back to normal games.

Self-Promotion (Developer) Call of Juarez: Gunslinger VR mod

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a mod that I'm working on for the Call of Juarez: Gunslinger game. I always loved this game style, cinematics story and the fun "arcadey" gunplay. In the last few weeks I decides to download and play it again and started thinking: "what if this game could be played in VR?" Then I decided to make a VR mod for it. Still some time away from being done but it's already very fun to play while listening to the crazy stories that Silas Greaves tells. Dont have a link for the mod yet, but hope to share this with the community when its ready

Purchase Advice RX 9070 XT vs RTX 5070 TI vs RTX 5080 for VR

I'm (hopefully) getting my steam frame in 2027 and have started to upgrade my computer to get ready for PCVR. I've been doing a ton of research into my options and settled on these 3 for which one I want to choose. Obviously I know the 5080 will be stronger than the rest, but do you think it will be worth it?

Prices (in CAD) I'm looking at are:

Asus RX 9070 XT $1400

MSI RTX 5070 TI $1700

Asus RTX 5080 $2400

I know there's a large gap in the prices, but I'm weighing whether or not I want to try and "future proof" my computer a bit and give myself a decent VR experience, or if the other cards will suffice and maybe I'm overthinking it.

I was just messing around with this on my own and having fun, so I decided to record some clips and post them.
I’m posting this not as a promotion, but simply to share some fun moments.

I was laughing to myself the whole time I was recording and editing these lol.

  1. A different kind of first-person prototype (you can see your arms and body, and it doesn’t automatically switch to third person) — September 30

https://youtu.be/9twg2mC6VuE

Just me getting my ass kicked the entire time lol. Oh, and I found out while making this that they all have actual eyeballs and teeth.

  1. Second person (I’m so bad at this that I figured I might as well see it from my opponent’s perspective…) — October 8

https://youtu.be/1a1lD5fJOHM

The Shaolin Soccer soundtrack seems to fit this way too well.

  1. Motion-controlled VR (you can open and close your hands and throw punches with both arms. Kicks and guards use buttons. Grabs only happen when you actually grab your opponent.) — October 8

https://youtu.be/0x2hutOKidM

So many moments in the VR one still crack me up lol.

Purchase Advice Should i buy psvr2 if I don't have Sony and my main use will probably be 180/360 content consumption?

• Upvotes

Basically as the title said, VR world is very much appealing to me lately and I will game from time to time but most of time my main use is immersing myself inside a video/180/360 content so I think oled screen is crucial for that.

there's also the price factor, second hand psvr2 is around 300-350 usd here and meta quest 3 is around 500 which is also lcd screen, worse than oled.

I'll use it through pc so for my understanding not 360 content limitation is much better then standalone use

Question/Support Best method for running older PC games natively on Quest

I'm taking a trip soon and would love to load up some flat screen games on my quest to play on the plane. I've been trying to get GameHub to work for a week or so now with no luck...been trying to run Alan Wake (steam and epic version), REPO, and Secret Agent Wizard Boy. All rather low end games, and yet I can't get anything to run with GameHub. Any tricks to getting this software to work or is there a less finicky method for running these games locally on the Quest 3?
