Advice for finding affordable off-campus housing after freshman year?
Hey everyone!! I’m currently a first-year at UO and starting to look into housing options for next school year (2027-28), and I figured I’d ask around to see what advice people have!
I’m an out-of-state student, so I’m trying to keep my housing costs on the lower side. Ideally, I’d love to have my own bedroom, and I’m totally open to sharing an apartment or house with roommates!
For anyone who’s already gone through the process, I’d love to hear your thoughts on a few things:
- What are some affordable apartments or housing options around Eugene that you’d recommend?
- How did you go about finding roommates, especially if you didn’t already have a group of friends to live with?
- When should I realistically start looking, applying, or signing a lease?
- Are there any places you’d recommend avoiding or things you wish you’d known before moving off campus?
I’m honestly open to any tips, recommendations, or personal experiences! I’d especially love to hear from people who have managed to find reasonably priced housing near campus.
I really appreciate any help! :)
