Review Thoughts from somebody who has just spent a month using both the Dell U4025QW and Alienware AW3926QW
I see all these threads about comparing these two monitors. Most retailers are now dropping the U4025QW to the $1400 range bringing it closer to the AW3926QW in price. I am fortunate to be able to afford both and a month ago I couldn't decide so fuck it...why not both...I had the room, the use case and the funds. Here's my thoughts from somebody who has actually used both of them.
my use case:
10% Photography Editing (Capture One, Photoshop, Illustrator)
10% Coding / Programming
20% non-competitive gaming. (Rocket League, ARC Raiders, DRG)
20% 3D Modeling and CAD (Blender, Fusion)
40% Office productivity - (Office 365, Google tools)
Environment: 2nd floor office with two small windows, primary light is a ceiling light in the middle of the room. Gets bright in the morning, darker than usual post lunch time.
GPU: 5070RTX
I don't wear glasses and have great vision.
If I did a lot photography or color grading, 100% I could not use the AW3926QW. It's just not color accurate across the entire screen. If you do anything where colors is critical you go with the Dell.
For everything else, there's enough overlap where I think 95% of the people will be happy with either monitor, unless you a competitive gamer or have extreme OCD. These are both premium monitors, it's like getting a Lexus IS which is more luxury comfort or BMW M3 for luxury speed - you're at a tier where you can't go too horrible wrong by getting either monitor; you're bathing in premium luxury no matter what.. Unless it's in the morning with the shades up where it's really bright which creates a lot of OLED glossy glare on the AW3926QW, the majority of time I don't even think or notice which one I'm using. Other than that I would have to really force myself to look for differences that are annoying. Does the Dell objectively have better text clarity? Yes. Is it an deal breaker over the AW? Absolutely not. It would be like saying somebody is $10M rich vs somebody is $9M rich. Yeah that 10M guy is richer, but at that tier of wealth, how significant is that $1M difference.
I'll give you an example, if my desktop is tied up doing something else and I want to play a game on my laptop (which is connected to the Dell), to be honest my experience is not diminished. Like, I wouldn't go out of my way to transition the gaming session to the AW. Vice-versa for any productivity work...if I so happen to start coding on the AW instead of the Dell, I wouldn't go through the hassle to change monitors.
Also after reading all past post about what people said about both these monitors I realize that a lot of this is subjective. Somebody says the response time on the Dell is too slow to play games, I'm playing Arc Raiders thinking...this is perfectly fine, not "too slow" at all. Somebody else thinks the AW3926QW is soooo sub-optimal to view word documents, I've used it for a month and say - no way it's actually great.
I'm here to tell you that if you have decision paralysis and overanalyze too much, don't fret too much about getting the "optimal" choice. It's just a monitor, you'll have a new within five years probably - it's not a marriage, it's not a legal contract, it's not a mortgage loan - don't sweat the small stuff.
If you do more productivity and can afford the extra $300-400 get the Dell, if you do more gaming get the AW. If you do more productivity and can't afford the Dell or find an awesome deal on the AW, get the AW - it's perfectly fine (unless you're a full time photographer or illustrator).
And for a lot of you out there, if you do more productivity and some gaming, be honest with yourself you know you should get the Dell, lol, even though that little devil has been telling you to get the AW because its for games and is newer. But if you end up circuming to the little devil it's okay too because the AW is also a great monitor.

Tech Support Alienware AW3426DW display not aligned to centre of screen
Just got this monitor and noticed the issue, pictures attached. It's not just a Windows problem as things are also misaligned when the monitor boots up and shows its built in messages.
There is nothing with the physical positioning of the monitor such as tilt, rotation etc. as I have spent a good amount of time ensuring it's all perfectly aligned right in the middle of my desk (especially since I got an OCD diagnosis).
I've gone to the OSD menu > game > game enhance mode > display alignment (picture attached - one with the 6 orange lines on screen) and tried to fix it that way but I can't because as soon as I press anything to try adjust it the OSD screen just turns off.
Can someone please help? This is really bothering me

Sale New Odyssey G9 57"
On sale at Samsung for $1449 US. Educator discount brought it down to $1199. Was able to pickup at my local Best Buy instead of shipping from Samsung. Sorry for the messy cables, just wanted to plug it in as fast as possible and check for dead pixels. None found.

Discussion What kinda defect does everyone considered acceptable?
I just got an Odyssey Neo G9 57" to replace my 1st gen Neo G9 49" that sadly died (backlight on, no image display...no matter how many times I reset it, I could get the Samsung logo to flicker briefly but it just went to black - I had this in the past but was always able to get it back, this time it finally gave up - I heard you can pull off some thermistor or something which might help but I didn't...not sure what to do with the old unit).
Anyway, the new monitor is PERFECT EXCEPT for one trapped dust spec behind the monitor. I thought it was a dead pixel at first but it's a little larger and it's blurry/soft edges. It's gray in color, not straight black. It's not in a corner but it's also not in the center of the screen either. It's about 65% from the left and 25% from the top, so it's off-center.
The way I have my fancy zones layout, it's not terrible, but it can be seen while browsing a web page with white background. Again, it's mostly off to the right in that center window zone.
It can be seen on white, green, yellow, light sky blue, but it blends very well into things and it's hard to see/find. Non-issue in gaming unless there's a sky or something with a wash of bright color. It looks like a spec of dirt that I could wipe away but I can't. So to be honest, I'm sure I'll have dirt on my monitor at some point that would be similar. The only difference is I can clean the dirt on the outside of the screen of course.
What do people generally accept here? What's the odds if I swap it, I'll end up with a worse defect?
I really hate to accept anything other than perfect when spending this amount of money even if I got it on sale for $1450. I didn't want to spend any money at all the other day because I was perfectly happy with my Neo G9 49" ... I also got a 3 year replacement plan from Micro Center. This was the last unit in stock. I could wait for more to be in stock and exchange it I guess, but again, I'm really wondering if people actually just live with small imperfections like this or not. Maybe I should be happy it's not worse?

Tech Support How do people split ultrawide while gaming.
I've recently just upgraded from a dual monitor setup to a 49" Phillips Evnia monitor and I am loving it so far however, when playing some games I wish I could split my monitor into 3 separate screens.
I would like to have a window on the left, a central 2560x1440 window in the middle, and another window on the right. I have found a few tools that do this such as power toys and virtual zones however those solutions don't really work how I would like with games as I have to have them in windowed mode for them to use the central region.
does anyone have any solutions to this and could people share their setup for splitting the display.

Discussion Anyone use a PS5 on their ultra wide?
Getting a PlayStation for gta6 can't wait for PC release, I'm assuming I'll just have 16:9 with black bars? Sucks because it's an OLED but it is what it is. I have a tv but I've never been a couch gamer.

Discussion Non-gaming monitor recommendations for a bit of a budget? Anyone using a Dell S3425DW with their mac?
I'm monitor shopping for the first time in maybe a decade. My last job set me up with a pretty nice wide screen that I loved (but don't even recall what it was...). New gig gave me a MB Pro and perhaps the shittiest widescreen monitor I've ever used. Some off-brand thing. I use it in portrait mode to read email and that's about that and even that kind of sucks.
That said, the MBpro screen, as great as it is, isn't keeping up with my needs--which for better or worse these days is often multiple instances of Claude and Cursor running.
I'd really like a wide screen to get some side-by-side options.
I can't afford a "proper" 5 or 6k monitor. So I know no matter what I get, it won't look as sharp as the MB Pro, but need something better than 1080.
Is anyone using the Dell S3425DW? It seems like a nice price ($350 ballpark). It's only 1440 and that's my main concern. Can I live with it next to a MB pro screen? I just want to be able to read code and do some design work.
I won't be gaming so refresh rate isn't really a concern.
Kind of looking to maximize pixels for the budget.
PS...anyone know where to go look at higher res monitors these days? I went to Best Buy and they only had one higher res monitor and it was just playing a video demo. Once in a while I realize how much we've let Amazon destroy the physical shopping experience...

Tech Support MSI MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36
I have this monitor and had a question:
Gsync is on and the Monitor run at 360Hz. If I cap my frame rate to 60 FPS and open the OSD of the Monitor, it displays 120 Hz. However, if I cap it to 70 FPS, the OSD correctly shows 70 Hz.
Does your monitor also double/jump from 60 FPS to 120 Hz? I'm not really sure why it does that

Tech Support Alienware AW3926QW Can't toggle off HDR streaming fixes? Washed out stream.
Randomly a few days ago my friends let me know that my stream on discord had become super washed out and bright on my AW3926QW. I'm assuming this is due to HDR on windows 11, but there is no setting on the HDR section to toggle HDR streaming off. I've been looking around for fixes, but to no avail. Anyone know anything?

Tech Support AW3926QW Top hz reading going bazerk
While playing wardogs I checked my monitors OSD information menu because I was experiencing some flickering and the resolution top number was going haywire rapidly changing between hz readings. Is this normal? I was just in a semi dark room with fog during the games tutorial. Is this normal behavior during all games?
More info: gsync is currently off (only running it when games are in full screen mode) and this game is running in bordered full screen because full screen wasn’t an option for this resolution for some reason.
