Meta Discussion The State of the Sub, November 2025: New Flairs, A New Rule, and Several Reminders
Hello everyone!
We hope you are doing well as the year steadily comes to a close! This has been quite the year for the r/Twilight subreddit, with more than 185,000 active forum users, and more than 3 million engagements almost every month.
In response to several community requests, two new flairs have been enabled for public posts over the last month, which you may have noticed during their brief trial period: Cosplay Content, and FTF Forever Twilight in Forks.
The Cosplay Content flair allows you to showcase the hard work you have put into your costumes, but it does have caveats: this flair can only be used for video and photo posts, and Patreon, OnlyFans, or Kofi links are not allowed in their descriptions. Cosplay dedicated Instagram links are allowed. Each user may post a maximum of four Cosplay Content posts per calendar month.
The FTF Forever Twilight in Forks flair allows you to discuss the annual festival held in Forks Washington: it is not for any transactions, such as trading or selling tickets, or arranging carpools or roommate arrangements. This subreddit is, at the end of the day, anonymous, and the official Facebook group is where you should turn to if you need to connect with other festival goers in an identified manner. Please, do not ever agree to meet up with anyone you meet online who has not fully identified themselves to you. This subreddit is not responsible for your actions offline.
Four points of conversation have been added to the subreddit’s FAQ section, therefore removing them from the “frequently reposted” topic lineup. These points include “How can I tell what edition my book is?”, “How do Alice’s visions work, and who can she see?”, “Did Jacob only love Bella because of Renesmee?”, and “Why do the Cullens go to high school?”
Additionally, a subrule of Rule #2: Content must be high quality (valuable and constructive) [Quality], has been broken out into its own rule – Rule #13: All AI and LLM Content is Banned [Quality]. While AI and LLM originated content has been banned under Rule #2 for quite some time, we find it has become necessary to separate this out as its own rule for the sake of public facing accountability. In recent months, the subreddit has been inundated with AI generated photo, video, and text posts, and it has become nigh impossible for the moderation team to sift out the true posts from the spam.
By separating out this rule, we are able to institute 7 day posting bans for repeat offenders, with permanent bans possible for particularly egregious offenders. This rule will extend to the Fanfiction and Meme subs. The exact text of Rule #13 will be as follows
Rule #13: All AI and LLM Content is Banned [Quality]
Banned posts include, but are not limited to:
- AI generated character images
- Deep Fake video content
- Fake film trailers made using AI
- AI generated fanart
- LLM generated text posts
- FaceApp Edits
- ‘Yassified’ Edits
- AI Voice content
Lastly, two reminders.
- Do not, under any circumstances, privately message a moderator for subreddit related questions. There has been a rise in users tracking down the private messages of individual moderators to demand their content be approved: if such behavior continues, doing so will result in a 24 hour ban from the forum, with the ban extended for repeat offenders.
- There has been a massive influx of posters claiming every single aspect of the Twilight Saga is the result of Meyer being raised in the Mormon church. Currently, we allow good faith discussions about the ways in which any religious doctrine interacts with the saga, but hundreds of posters have crossed the line in the last two months. Meyer, like any other human, is capable of having thoughts and writing them down that are not prescribed to her by her religion. The amount of vitriol spat at her in the last two months is far past the line of proprietary (and, we add, far greater, and much more personally belittling, than is doled out for any male Mormon authors, including Brandon Sanderson and Orson Scott Card). This subreddit is not the place to evangelize for any religious beliefs, including staunch atheism. If you want to discuss theology, go to r/theology, and if you wish to specifically discuss your experiences with the LDS church, visit r/exmormon or r/mormon. This has to stop, and if this community is unable to discuss religious topics in a civilized manner, they will be banned entirely until cooler heads prevail.
Information on the annual Subreddit Secret Santa will be released next week. Thank you for so thoroughly reading this notice.
All our best,
The r/Twilight Moderation Team

Twilight-ish Travelling around Norway…
I can’t make it to Forks but I’m travelling around Norway and it does remind me of the movies a bit.

Character/Relationship Discussion Hot take? Book Esme is the creepiest one
Even though Bella, the narrator, can't see it, I think book Esme is the creepiest one of all. She’s the most ethereal, killing herself in a tragedy, only for the doctor she had as a teenager turn her into a ghoul for his bride. She has little contact with humans, living deep in the woods, and her husband shares a delusion with her that the other ghouls he made are her children. Plus she blindly accepts the occasional murder.
Worst of all, y'all know she probably wears white edwardian nightgowns and creeps around in the dark in their house.

Character/Relationship Discussion What would Carlisle Cullen have done during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Random thought, but what do we think Carlisle and the rest of the Cullens were doing during COVID in 2020?
Would Carlisle have worked on the front lines, knowing he couldn’t get sick? Would he have considered turning dying COVID patients to save them, like he did with Edward during the 1918 flu pandemic? Or would he have retired temporarily to avoid suspicion?
And would the Cullens have absolutely thrived during lockdown? No school, no pretending to be human, and every excuse to stay inside.

Book Discussion Reading Wuthering Heights for the first time bc of the movie (lol), got chills when I came across this passage
I’ve read Eclipse probably ~10 times. This is my first time reading Wuthering Heights, inspired by the movie. All of a sudden, the passage was super familiar, and I got goosebumps. Realized immediately I’d read it several times in Eclipse. Such evocative language!! Really is one of the best passages I’ve read thus far in WH

Character/Relationship Discussion Sam and Emily: are they tragically doomed?
The wolves don’t age unless they train themselves to stop phasing for a long time. Is he going to do that eventually so he can grow old alongside her? Or will he feel obligated to continue leading the pack? I just can’t imagine any of them living without their imprinted individual.
I assume that any of the wolves that have imprinted (besides Jacob obviously) would learn to stop phasing to be with their partner. But Sam is the alpha so…thoughts?
Full disclosure I’m Sam’s #1 hater so I don’t necessarily care about HIM but it does leave me curious as to if he would “retire” somehow to live out the rest of his life with Emily

Character/Relationship Discussion Renesmee smelling Jacob
Since Bella and the vampires think werewolves stink, how does Renesmee (half-vampire) feel about Jacob's smell? Is he half-stinky, or just stinky? Help a girl out, it keeps me up at night.

Character/Relationship Discussion I can't stand Jasper Hale. If you like or love his character, that's fine, but I have my reasons for disliking him
My biggest issue is that he was a Confederate soldier, yet neither the books nor the movies show him expressing any genuine remorse for his past. In Eclipse, he even comes across as proud of it. What's worse is that he has empathy powers, meaning he could sense the suffering of enslaved African Americans, yet he still fought for the Confederacy. The irony is unbelievable.
I also don't understand why he was still struggling with bloodlust after decades with the Cullens. He and Alice joined the family in the 1950s, so why was he still attending high school with hundreds of human teenagers if he couldn't control himself?
Honestly, I find his character boring, and I suspect his looks contribute to his popularity. I'll never like him, but I'm not telling anyone else to stop liking him. This is simply my opinion about his character.

Lore Discussion I think Carlisle should have changed Edward's mom
What it says on the tin. She was healthy, and she clearly knew something. It just bugs me, because he was alone, yes, and he spent all that time ruminating on changing Edward and she died in the meantime. It's just so sad. I think he should have done it.
Edit: I'm not able to reply to comments, but when I said healthy, I meant healthier than Edward. She had better chances of surviving the change.

Twilight-ish Calling Dr Cullen stat!
The Ear Doctor I met today was named Cullen. The nurse practitioner, asked me if I had any questions for him, before he came in to see me. With a little smirk I asked if he was a vampire. It took her a second to catch on. I knew better, but I couldn’t help myself.

Character/Relationship Discussion Leah appreciation
Had a rough day and wanted to chat about Leah. I just got back into twilight again, I go through phases of being really interested for a while on and off and this time I’m finding appreciation for Leah. I know I’m very late to this, but yeah.
What do guys think about Leah? Any fun thoughts to share? Headcanons? Thoughts on her in the movie? I haven’t read the books in forever.

Fan Content/Showcase Twilight wolves 🐺
I just wanted to share my twilight wolves redraws!
I had such a good time making these!
If you wanna support me here is the instagram post
I lowkey feel like the wolves and the characters are overlooked so much in TWLIGHT it’s very frustrating but I wanted to give them their debut! Also the wolves are so hard to find references for them because fun fact the directors Don’t keep their designs consistent for example Jared looks completely different in all three movies and so does quill! Which is so funny you would think they just would use the same model!
Oh well I got to interpret them In their own way which I think is more fun!
Tell me which one is your favorite 🥹🫶

Book Discussion Bella’s fear of blood…
When Tyler crashes his van, he’s in the hospital bed next to her and this would’ve been a perfect moment to introduce her issues with blood because his head is cut up, but she is completely fine despite the blood soaked bandages and gashes revealed when they’re unwrapped. It’s not until later when they simply have to prick their fingers in her bio class that she can’t stand it. Is this just an inconsistency? It’s driving me insane. I didn’t even know she had this issue from the movies, I’m reading the books for the first time now.
EDIT: I completely understand that the hospital circumstances are likely the reason she did react to the sight of blood and couldn’t smell it. I do still think it’s so strange that she does note Tyler’s condition when he’s brought in, she notes his bandages being soaked in blood and the gashes underneath when staff begin unwrapping them. She was trying hard to appear okay and not impaired by the accident so no one was overly worried about her, so given her character, she’d be incredibly thankful that she wasn’t able to smell the blood, because becoming faint and ill would not have been in her favor. I mean we’re in her head, and there’s just no way she wouldn’t have thought “thank god I can’t smell that” when she saw him. Due to all these things, I wholeheartedly believe that this trait of hers was either forgotten or created for her after the crash was written and SM just didn’t think to go back and add this in. I don’t believe I’m overthinking it, as this is just how you write a consistent and lifelike character.

Plot Discussion Edward talks about the dangers of having sex with Bella but imposing marriage as a condition changed nothing
I was under the impression Edward did not want to have sex with Bella because he’s enormously stronger than she is and fears losing control. His condition was for them to get married, which I see as an eternal commitment. Except the wedding changes absolutely nothing about that.
Bella is still human, Edward is still a vampire, and sex is still dangerous when they lose their virginity to each other in the honeymoon. If physical danger were genuinely the reason sex had to be postponed, the logical solution would have been to transform Bella into a vampire first. Am I missing something here?

Book Discussion Did anyone read midnight sun on the Stephanie Meyer Twilight website
I remember as a teen reading a release on the twilight website, on my old family computer. It was midnight sun before it was released but like not the whole book, many many years before it was actually released and I think before the movies even came out.
I know I can’t been the only one remembering this, but it feels like a lifetime ago
