On Threads, Meta controls the main feed, often hides links to outside websites, and pushes viral content from accounts you do not even follow.

Although Threads gained rapid adoption by leveraging Instagram's existing network, there are several significant drawbacks that limit user autonomy and control.

Because the platform relies heavily on Meta’s central recommendation algorithms, the primary "For You" feed prioritizes content designed to drive immediate engagement and viral reach over authentic user connections.

Additionally, Threads is fully tied into Meta's advertising engine and cross-app data tracking, offering minimal real transparency or user ownership over their social graph. Without open protocol infrastructure, users cannot build custom feeds, run independent servers, or access community-led moderation tools, leaving all content distribution and policy enforcement entirely in the hands of a single corporate entity.

Anyone else get their Threads account banned for no reason? I started to grow a following so posted more but now it will be all deleted. Got this after I submitted phone number and selfie for review!

After getting suspended from X for a BS reason of "inauthentic behavior," I assume many others are getting suspended for false reasons too due to their flawed AI so hopefully Threads will overtake X since X jumped the shark twice - the first time for being bought by Elon and having its name changed.

Who knows what Google is sharing. But, for those still on it can they try it and see if it makes a difference? I’ve said it before it’s likely Google that’s still listening, not sure about meta.

I got no ban reason or email. If you appealed, did you send it right away or wait a few days first?

my account was "locked because threads team suspected someone hacking my account. so i am trying to get back in. and i cant because i enter the 2fA code thats fine. but when i click send me a code to verify viaa my phone (forget i have a meta account instagram account and facebook i could confirm it with) i just dont get a code via sms.

so please fix SMS to japanese cell phones.

My account was suspended today, without warning nor an explanation, then I received these messages when I logged in… I’ve never posted any personal posts on Threads. I just reshared other peoples’ posts and liked a few posts here and there.

It serves no purpose other than being a version of social media somewhere between instagram and twitter in terms of use and significantly worse functionally due to poor UI.

I also notice the algorithm it attempts to follow is not in any way linked to my own. I constantly get shown garbage i have no interest in. I cannot go a single post or thread or whatever, without seeing people seemingly at eachothers throats regarding the blue star state, elites, and political affiliations. it doesn’t even matter the context of the thread, it could be pertaining to the seed vault and somehow it becomes this segue for dissent conversations. It’s everywhere but only on threads for me. Is this a platform for pushing narrative? No one i know irl actually uses it to post anything. Example texts from the seed vault discussed.

I haven't been able to access Threads for the past 3 hours, either in the browser or in the app.

Others can't see my profile properly either—only my posts; no one can see replies on my profile. I can't see my profile, other profiles, or the feed. I also can't post anything.

I can send DMs, and that's it.

I can’t change my password or log in anywhere else—only in the app where I’m already logged in.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Hello, I legit came back onto threads and made a new account after so long, just to be hit with “we removed your comments” almost immediately. At first I thought maybe I was the problem so I cooled down on the replies.

But now it’s legit every single reply I do. I thought maybe it was the emojis I was using so I didn’t use them, but even then, I’m still getting comments removed for alleged spam. Let me not talk about the annoying selfie and phone number verification either, that’s gonna get me vexxed. Oh and it’s asked me to verify myself for the SECOND time now it’s really pissing me off at this point

I’m seriously at my wits end. My other account was never like this so I really don’t know why this one is 😤😤 Safe to say I’m pissed

What is actually going on with that app?

I woke up to an email from Threads saying my account is suspended for violating community standards. I have literally never posted anything. I only scroll the feed and hit like on the things they feed me with their algo, that’s it. I was even able to confirm that I have no violations in the reports area of the app.

I started to do their appeals process, which doesn’t say what the violation is beyond “violating community standards,” and it is requiring me to enter my phone number. I have never given that to Meta and don’t intend to, so I think this is a data collection scam. Guess I won’t be using Threads.

Do queued posts get cancelled, or can they still publish while the account owner cannot sign in?

As of 9pm 10-15-2026 im still suspended from all three sites cause of the sept 22 false fed flag meta A.I. problem. Its been an up down kind of thing. I use my instagram & facebook in a 50/50 business personal style. I never realized how dependent I was on Facebook as far as booking, keeping in touch with people, looking to see what's going on around me, etc. It still urks me how I wasnt on threads when all this started. Seeing thousands of people going through what im going through was very enlightening. Made me feel like I wasnt alone. I really hope things go back to normal cause part of my livelihood was affected and I lost money as well. Its unfortunate that people have cell phones and dont call or send texts even if its business related.

A harmless Thread comment that I commented on a post and yet I'm the one that gets remove and not those girls posting n#ked pics and begging people for money???? Ya Mark Zuckerberg is really a perv, note I never spam anything yet I'm the target....?

I received no reason for my ban and no email. Is there another place in the account settings or appeal page where the reason can be checked?

This morning, I woke up to find that my Instagram account had been locked due to a threat of being hacked. I was able to fix this by changing my password and email linked to the account. However, I was only able to do this for my Instagram account, as when I tried changing my Threads password via Instagram Accounts Centre, I kept getting an error message saying it couldn't be done due to network issues. I then tried opening the Threads app, where it greeted me with a prompt to change my password. Yet when I tried doing it, I received the error message in the image above. Because both my accounts were previously locked, I was logged out of my accounts on my laptop. So when I logged back into Instagram on my laptop, I tried changing the password on the Accounts Centre there. However, I was told I couldn't because I hadn't used the device regularly enough (which I literally couldn't after being logged out). I then tried to log in to Threads on my laptop, but both my options were useless since the option for sending the verification code via email was linked to my previous email address (I guess unlinking it from the Instagram Accounts Centre didn't work for Threads) and the option for sending the code via phone was through SMS, as opposed to the WhatsApp message that my Instagram laptop login used (which was sent directly and instantly), and thus was never sent. I am feeling completely lost right now and I would appreciate it if anyone could give me advice on how to fix this issue. Thanks in advance.
