Heads-up for anyone whose Steam started crashing instantly at launch after the October 13 client update, where reinstalling Steam, verifying, and clearing the cache all do nothing.

If you’re on an AMD Radeon GPU, this is probably not Steam’s fault. A component in the Radeon driver (GameManager64.dll, AMD’s game-detection hook that injects itself into Steam) goes into a crash loop during Steam’s startup and takes the client down with it. Event Viewer shows it as an ntdll.dll / c0000005 error, which makes it look like Steam or Windows, but it’s the driver.

How to tell it’s this:

• It only started after the Oct 13 Steam update.
• Steam launches fine if you fully quit your overlay/peripheral software first (Razer Synapse, Corsair iCUE, etc.) and start Steam before they load.
• A game launcher running in the background can trigger it too (the EVE Online launcher does it for me).
• It goes away completely if the AMD driver is uninstalled (not a real fix, just proof of cause).

Workaround until AMD patches it: let Steam fully start before any of that overlay/peripheral/launcher software loads. Launch order is the whole trick.

I’ve reported it to both AMD (with a full crash dump) and Valve. Posting here so people stop wiping their Steam installs over an AMD driver bug. Anyone else hit this since mid-October on a Radeon card?

Honestly, I am not convinced.
For me I just loved the whole Average Game Completion Rate which seems to be nowhere to be found unfortunately.
The new comparison feature is great though.

so i bought the steam cards for this game on the market hoping to get this wallpaper, an i ended up getting the church one instead, if im to do it again an upgrade the badge will i get a chance to get the wallpaper i want or ? the wallpaper i want is 500 steam points but u need to buy the game which is 10 bucks to then purchase it on the steam store, but im wondering if i can get it through upgrading the badge ?

Since we are not the topic of loading times and startup times already. The steam pages are loading very slowly for me and no, there's no problem with my internet. I tried with two different wifi and still the pages take a long while to load. Meanwhile mobile app is so good , it loads almost instantly. This is especially annoying during steam next fests or any events cus the page takes a long time to load and it just annoys me so much.

Also if I click on a game and come back to the event page it reloads 😭, this is very bad. Because sometimes I'll be having amazing recommendations and I click on a game page to download it and come back to the event page again just for the peak recommendations to be lost forever to the void because it just reloads. This disincentivizes me to click on a game cus i don't want to accidentally lose the current recommendations.

Is there are any fix for this? Or is my net just ass. Btw I use steam app on pc , is it better to just browse on chrome instead?

OK, IDK if I'm crazy or what but I swear that there was an option for a profile theme that made everything look like it was the menus from Half-Life 1. Military green toolbars, big yellow loading bars, everything just like the old menus. I'm looking everywhere on the store but I just can't find it and I have no idea what it's called or what it could be associated with.

Does this actually exist or am I misremembering? I do know there's a Half-Life Alyx profile border that looks like what I'm talking about but what I'm looking for changes the whole layout.

Is anyone else having issues with their Steam wishlist?

My wishlist says it contains 90 games, but only 14 are actually displayed.

I also can't interact with the filters or sorting options on the wishlist page. They appear to be completely unclickable.

The problem happens in my browser, in the Steam client, and on my Steam Deck, so it doesn't seem device-specific.

Has anyone encountered this before or found a fix?

I have recently gotten into Maplestory but have been annoyed by the movement (my arrow keys are not full size) and general use of the keyboard as I've always played games on a console and still do most, after a while I found out that some people will use steam input and layers to use a controller on Maplestory for easy movement and general use when say laying down, when I tried this I didn't have any issues per se (it works fine), but I believe I could make my layout better, you see since controllers have far less buttons/inputs you need to have multiple layers/layouts to swap to via [button] + [button] to make sure you can use all the needed keys, but the controller I have actually has 8 extra buttons (2 back buttons, 2 extra bumper buttons, and 2 extra face buttons like fighting game controllers have) which would make play so much easier as I'd need to swap layouts/remember button combinations for less things, the issue I'm currently running into however is that my controller is one specifically made in collaboration with xbox for xbox consoles (Flydigi Vader 5 S) and so steam (correctly) recognizes it as an xbox controller and brings up the xbox specific input menu, however this means all the extra buttons only mirror the buttons on any standard controller.

Is there a way to force steam into recognizing my controller as a generic controller to use the extra buttons, does anyone know?

Just found out that my Steam Controller reservation was opened about 1.5 months ago. After this message I got the email saying I could purchase it, and I should be purchasing soon. If it were any other company I would have likely just accepted my loses and would've moved on lol

For instance, the steam forum for Red Dead 2, is full of people asking if the game still uses the launcher, it does, but you don't notice it. Hitting play on Red dead 2 launches the launcher which instantly launches RD2 without any issues or even having to touch the launcher so why is it so hated, it barely existed.

A lot of people claim they'll never buy the PC version as long as this launcher exists, but why...when it doesn't cause any gameplay issues. At first I thought it had something to do with the launcher effecting mods, but no....there's lots of modders and hackers in the PC version who go ignored by rockstar moderation. (It's all of them, all hackers get ignored, it's surprising that rockstar is applauded in any way).

In my country we use other countries gift cards like ksa USA eu etc for some reason but I never had one and I want to unlimit my account
