Hey, people. Recently I discovered that AI has made porting open source projects for different plataforms really easy. Today I've been trying to make Star Craft 1 run on the New 3ds hardware, using gemini flash 3.8 high, on antigravity. It's really early in the development and A LOT of changes have to be made to be playable. But this early concept of gameplay is really cool and all the maps are there.
If you want me to make this project public in the future comment bellow and make suggestions so I can make good prompts.
I've actually never played SC1, but I'm a huge fan of SC2!!
(I don't know if this violates the AI rule, since its not an "AI generated vídeo" but an AI helped port).
The guys on the Battle Report youtube channel (part of the Yogscast) created a more faithful miniatures game with smaller scale models, base building, resource harvesting and tech progression.
I was watching an almost 4 year old uthermal video, where he remarked how you basically have to scv pull or put toss very behind early or it's too easy for them to win at all levels except a few pros, and it made me realize how long this has been going on
Aside from the 8 worker blip we just had, it's literally been years of this matchup being super imba, with people only just realizing in the last year or so how bad it is. The level of effort and execution required to win a macro game from the Terran is unbelievable and it feels like we have just accepted that's how the game works
We had no end of Protoss complaining during 8 workers (rightly so), but whenever anyone addresses this elephant in the room it seems to be met with 'git gud' and 'stop whining' sentiments by the people who benefit from it.
I personally know multiple 5k+ Terrans who now mainly play deadlock and motherlode instead of sc2 because they can't be bothered with TvP
if you analyze his actions with the hindsight of Starcraft 2 story. it can actually be deduced he was already working to undermine everyone.
first of all - he couldn't really be infested and under Kerrigan's control - he shows no sign of it whatsoever, and only his voice changes when he joins the Zerg. he only let Kerrigan think she's controlling her when in reality he was the one manipulating her.
we can see this manipulation clearly in the "True Colors" mission. Duran is the one that subtly suggested Kerrigan to betray her allies by asking "and what of your allies, what should be done with them, you're simply going to let them leave?"
the queen thinks the killing her friends was her idea, but it was Duran's psyching powers that covertly planted this idea in her mind. just like he did with Dugal when he insisted on killing Stukov and destroying the Psi Disruptor.
every time we see Duran in a mission briefing he always gives exellent tactical advice as if he knows everything but at the same time it's horrible strategic advice because winning his battles doesn't help his 'masters' at all.
what did kerrigan get from killing Fenix and Razhagal? absolutely nothing. she just made the Protoss her sworn enemy
this only benefited Duran, who needs the zerg and protoss and constant war so he'll have all the bodies he needs for the hybrid project.
why did Duran ensure Mengsk's survival? because he is the only one crazy and evil enough to give him the resources to create the hybrids. and so that humanity will continue to have war with the protoss
and by keeping all the 3 sides hating each other he is setting up the perfect ground for retrieving the Xelnaga keystone pieces and making sure no one is strong enough when Amon will finally return.
think about it: we first see him as a Confederate commander that pledges allegiance to the UED, but he immediately starts to sabotage their interests right in the next mission, was it possible he was infested this whole time and no one noticed? impossible. he was already orchestrating everyone in response to Kerrigan's independence.
it's even safe to assume he is the reason why the zerg attacked humanity in the first place - if this entire time he was in a position of power within the Confederacy it's very likely he convinced the leadership to experiment on the zerg, helped creating the psi-emitters and had no problems murdering millions on mar-sara and chau-sara to test them.
I like the gameplay of both Starcraft and Dawn of War, but I'm just curious if yall would want hero based squads or squads spawned in from points like in Retribution?
I wouldn't either one, and part of the reason I want this kinda game is because I feel like it would give the opportunity to explore a bit more of the universe in smaller ways.
someone suggested earlier a game inspired on dawn of war 2 and while i was replying to the post this idea cross my mind inspired on statecraft and brood wars missions where you control a limited amount of units (like The Jacobs Installation mission)
and it cross my mind same gameplay , at bigger scale with more detail graphics and environments that you could maybe even interact with so you can make more complex missions you couldnt have in the original starcraft would be one heck of a game
cause those missions where you had to really think your actions and use the units abilities carefully and strategically where really fun . would be awesome if someone was to do game expanding on that . that still feel more like starcraft than xcom
But yeah, Swarm host late game transition when you're 20k resources in trading down in TVZ - to win the game. I've never seen this transition before in my years of watching pro starcraft. When 16 Swarm hosts got queued I thought it was a misclick!
So I'm not saying we should go back to the reduced worker count. I am wondering if a reason was given for raising the worker count in the first place.
When blizzard FIRST raised the worker count from 6-12, why did they raise it to that particular number instead of 10 or 14? Was any reason given or was it just an arbitrary, 100% increase?
by that i mean things that go against the script (like destroying the facility with drones in SC2 HOTS) – i'll go first:
in BW with kerrigan and the psi emitter once the evac comes for the SCV i let the SCV get onboard the dropship and then destroy it with scourges. because i'm an asshole!
and some missions i cheat and get myself a dark archon then mind control another army. it's fun, lol.
in SC2 with zagara and the banelings i cheat and rush and kill her base straight up without the banelings – i keep killing her everytime she comes back until there's nothing left!
in Nova:CO i cheat and rush to kill general davis before the camera cuts to cutscene (can't recall if i succeeded, lol)
I’ve played for decades. Love the game. The community has gotten violent though… the death threats have me decide it’s not worth it anymore. About 16,000 matches in SCII. I’m usually in team games around diamond league.
I don’t know y’all. Lack of moderation and really abusive spammy and violent player pool has me feeling disgusted. But I guess we don’t hold LLMs accountable for their words either so….
I’ll be back later I guess. But it sucks to be involved. It’s gotten worse.
I haven't even played a campaign (yet, game looks interesting).
Suprised how good camera actually is in replays, showing what I was clicking for the most part. It still missing me reading what each building does.
We were in discord call and the only thing he advised me is:
How to build workers (until number over nexus and those gas thingy go up to the limit).
What to build near ramp. Still not sure why.
And to build second base.
Oh, and he also said that there's second page of buildings.
Other than that he just said do waht you want and giggled through entire game.
Just thought I will share this game.
EDIT: It also took me a minute to find that menu is F10, not escape...
