Denon DHT-S217 for Hisense 55E77Q Pro?

Hello, this is my first post in this subreddit, I'm from Germany, so first of all sorry for bad english 🥸

I recently bought my new Hisense 55E77Q Pro, and the TV is very good overall, the only thing that disappointed me since day one is the sound. A little bit.. cold? tinny? Not warm, voluminous and clear.

When it comes to soundbars, I'm a complete beginner. I wanted a soundbar under 200€ without a external subwoofer, the sound should just be a little heavier and dynamic as well as "deep" or "warm" (sorry I realy don't know how I could describe it better in english xD).

A friend said that Denon is a good brand in this segment and for soundbars in general, so I looked for the DHT-S217 and I would be able to get this soundbar for about 120€, very good condition, complete scope of delivery and original packaging.

Is this a no-brainer? Is there any better soundbar for my TV and my claims in this price segment?

Thx a lot for reading, have a great day!

Q990H suggestions

Thinking of pulling the trigger on the Q990H. Any suggestions on what to do and what to avoid? For those who own one, how has your overall experience been?

I mainly watch TV shows, movies, and sports, and I also game quite a bit on my PS5. I have a Samsung S95B that I plan to pair it with.

Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated. If you have any better alternatives to recommend, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Troubleshooting I Want My TV To Go Back Controlling Volume After Hisense Soundbar Installation

Hello,

I recently installed a Hisense AX700 soundbar system onto my Samsung TV (bought this tv around 2015).

Anyway, once I installed the soundbar it's like it took over all the control from how the TV volume use to work, even the emblem on the tv is now different when I volume up or down. How do I set my Soundbar to a "set it and forget it" volume, and go back to using my TV's capabilities to control the volume?

The reason I want this is because the TV is "snappy" when controlling the volume with quick response time, but now after the soundbar took over it's kinda clunky and like it has to think about raising/lowering the volume.

It's not a huge issue, but more of an annoying one and there should be a way to go back to having my TV control my volume instead of using the soundbar interface.

Hope this makes sense. Thank you for your help!

Is it worth upgrading from an old 1000W wired LG system to the new 600W LG S75TR/SQ75TR?

Hi everyone,

I just bought a new 65" LG C6 OLED TV and I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading my current audio system to pair with it.

• Current Setup: LG LHB625M (Older, fully-wired 5.1 home theater with a Blu-ray player, rated at 1000W RMS).

• Proposed Upgrade: LG SQ75TR / S75TR (Modern 5.1.1 soundbar, Dolby Atmos with an up-firing center speaker, wireless sub/rears, rated at 600W RMS).

My main usage is movies and gaming.

On paper, I'm dropping from 1000W to 600W. Will I lose out on raw volume and punch, or will the jump to modern Dolby Atmos, eARC, and LG ecosystem features (like WOW Orchestra) make this a massive upgrade overall?

Is it worth making the switch, or should I stick with my old wired system?

Thanks!

Best Sound bar for Stereo Music?

Needs an analog input. Price range $500-$1000

I'm about 50/50 Music and TV user.

Or should I get a $500 soundbar system and AND a $500 Stereo System?

Samsung Samsung BF750F Bluetooth settings

I just picked up a BF750 to connect via Bluetooth to an Amazon Fire Stick. It connects just fine but it doesn’t appear that I can adjust treble or bass. And the sound field button doesn’t seem to do anything.

Is this a limitation of being connected with Bluetooth instead of optical or HDMI?

Fixed issue with missing monitors, when using soundbar on a PC

I've got my soundbar plugged into a spare HDMI port on my PC, so I can decode Atmos.
I do not have my monitor plugged into it though - as it doesn't have the bandwidth I need for my monitor. I also don't have my soundbar plugged into my monitor, as it doesn't support CEC.

So - windows sees two monitors. My real one and a non-existent one my soundbar says is there, but isn't. Which would be fine, except windows is flakey and occasionally moves apps onto it - which is annoying, as I can't see them.

I got so annoyed with this and none of the workaround solutions quite working, I made an app - https://github.com/goldcd/NOTM

Allows you to mark the "monitor" associated with the soundbar to be a "blocked monitor". Then any attempt by anything to put anything onto that non-existent monitor, just bounces it back to your primary real screen.

Can also be setup to play a non-audible sound to the soundbar (I ripped the idea off Soundkeeper), so the soundbar doesn't go to sleep, and you don't get the annoying audio-dropouts as it re-syncs each time you say start a new Youtube video.

After some light testing, it seems to be working well for me.

* Run NOTM.exe and it'll appear in your tray. Click that to open the GUI

* Click on the soundbar where it appears in your monitor selector.

* Click Block Display (and keep audio alive)

* Click at the top if you want the app to reload on reboot

And that should be it - no annoying "Windows doesn't work properly with soundbar" issues.
(well apart from it not supporting CEC, so you can't control ATMOS streams with your windows volume controls - if anybody has any bright ideas about that?)

Sonos Improve my KEF/Marantz setup, or move my existing Sonos Arc and Ones upstairs?

I’m trying to work out the best way forward for my upstairs TV sound system. I’m keeping the display, but I’m open to changing the audio setup.

Currently upstairs I have:

  • 55-inch LG C9 OLED
  • Marantz NR1607 AV receiver
  • KEF LS50 Metas for front left and right
  • An older B&W centre, possibly an LCR600 S3, but I need to confirm
  • B&W ASW600 subwoofer
  • No rear speakers

The listening/viewing area is fairly small, but it sits within a much larger room used as a bedroom, office and lounge. It’s on the top floor of a three-storey house, with some sloping ceilings.

The system is a bit of a mishmash. I’m particularly unhappy with the sub. It’s too big and bulky for the viewing area, and I’m not enjoying how the bass integrates, although placement or setup could be part of the problem.

I’d love to add rear speakers. Wireless would be preferable because getting speaker cables to them would be difficult.

I also already own an original Sonos Arc and two Sonos Ones, currently in the downstairs lounge. I don’t have a Sonos sub. One possibility is to move that system upstairs, add a suitable Sonos sub, then use the KEFs as the starting point for a different, hopefully better, AV system downstairs.

The options going round in my head are:

  1. Improve the existing upstairs system: keep the Marantz and KEFs, replace the bulky sub with something more compact, and investigate practical options for surrounds.
  2. Repurpose the Sonos system upstairs: move the Arc and two Ones up, add a sub, and build a separate system around the KEFs downstairs.
  3. Keep the KEFs upstairs for stereo music alongside a soundbar setup: ideally with a shared sub, if that can work without awkward switching or constant reconfiguration.

I’d really like good stereo music with a sub as well as an enjoyable cinema experience, but I wonder whether I’m trying to make one setup do too much.

Ease of use matters a lot. My wife uses the TV regularly and has no interest in fiddling with settings. Once configured, it needs to be straightforward for either of us to use.

Given what I already own, which route would you take? I’d particularly appreciate experiences of moving from a separate-speaker setup to an Arc system, or finding a straightforward way to combine good stereo music with TV surround sound.
