You can now update your own user flair.

Sorry I thought I had done this earlier, but I think I messed it up. Should be on the sidebar on desktop and on mobile three dot menu. Lmk if you have issues. It's not exhaustive, but it has many. Feel free to put in requests for new ones and for color changes.

Mod Shark Power Detect Posts

For some reason, a number of bots have been spamming our subreddit with posts about the shark power detect. I'm honestly not sure what's going on with that. They are often written extremely similarly, so I'm confident it's not a random coincidence. It feels like it would be pretty petty for shark the company to be hiring bots to do this, but the posters also don't have affiliate links, so I'm not sure what's up. Regardless. I'm issuing a temporary ban on those posts.

I have set up some filters (which I won't describe here for fear of getting circumvented). If you see them getting through, please let me know so I can update the filter.

I'll also say, if this is Shark attempting to do this. If the filters get circumvented and I have no other choice, I may just start to ban all posts containing any references to shark to cool the bots off. I really don't want to do this, so whoever is posting this, you're going to end up hurting the vacuum in the long run by doing this.

Do you use voice control on your robot vacuum?

I’ve been looking into Ecovacs robot vacuums and noticed a lot of the newer models have voice control.

It sounds convenient, but I’m wondering how useful it is. Do you guys use voice commands? or mostly just use the app and scheduled cleaning?

imo scheduling would probably cover most of what I need, but i guess voice control could be handy for quick spot cleaning or when your hands are full.

Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 vs Mova Z60 for pet hair?

• Upvotes

I have a Golden Retriever, a long haired cat, and long hair myself, so yeah, there’s a LOT of hair. My current robot vac has spinning mops, but the brush gets wrapped in hair all the time. I’m constantly cutting it out with scissors, and it’s even stopped with an error a couple times.

So I’m looking to switch. Been seeing a lot of people say roller mops are better, and I’m stuck between the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 and Mova Z60. They’re about the same price, but I have no idea how different. I really don’t wanna spend the money just to end up cutting hair off the brush every week again....

Looking for robovac recommendations in canada

• Upvotes

I live in a 1,000 sq ft basement suite. About 25% of the flooring is carpet, and I’m getting a big shedding dog soon, so pet hair is a big consideration.
My budget is $700–$1,000 CAD, and I’m currently looking at:

MOVA P50 Pro Ultra $949
Roborock Qrevo 2 Pro $699

Both look to be on sale right now

Looking for something that cleans well, handles pet hair, and requires minimal maintenance.

Does anyone own either of these? Would you recommend one over the other, or is there something better I should consider?

Best robot vacuum for 3000sqft ish house?

Looking for the best option that works on low pile carpet and is a VAC ONLY. So far ive been recommended the eufy L60 but have also found used roomba S9+s for 200-300 CAD.

Currently have a shitty suction only Amazon one i paid 3$ for at a yardsale and while its hilarious watching it almost kill itself 9 times every half hour I kinda need it to clean my house lmao

Comparing robot-vacuum noise ratings? Check how the numbers were measured

Before choosing between two robots because one has a lower advertised dBA figure, check whether the measurements describe the same thing.

My comparison checklist:

- Same operating mode: quiet, standard, maximum suction, or mop-only?

- Same function: floor cleaning, dust emptying, mop washing, or drying?

- Same measurement distance?

- Similar floor surface and room conditions?

- Same measurement method, ideally from the same reviewer or test setup?

Distance affects the reading, so a small numerical advantage from separate tests doesn’t establish a clear winner in your home. If the conditions aren’t published, treat the comparison as uncertain.

Also consider the sound itself: a steady airflow sound and intermittent rattling can be differently distracting, even when their measured levels are similar.

Disclosure: I run QuietTechReport. Our site contains affiliate links, and we may earn commissions from purchases. Our guide to understanding decibels explains the scale and measurement context in more detail.

What measurement details do you wish robot-vacuum reviews included more consistently?

Newbie: q on roborock and multi-map

I haven’t owned a robo vac to date. I am thinking to procure a roborock qrevo 2 pro or similar.

I need this to cover 3 distinct areas:
Main house downstairs (carpet and polished concrete)
Main house upstairs
A granny flat

I would carry the robot to the later 2 spaces and it wouldn’t be able to reach back to the base station.

Will it be able handle 3 areas in the software/maps?

Tx.

I'm moving soon and new apartment is all vinyl flooring. What kinda rugs should I get?

I have a mova p10 pro ultra Gen 1. I heard robot vacuums aren't too good with certain types of rugs cuz like it thinks it's on the edge of the cliff or something like that. Would you guys recommend I get any certain patterns or colors I should avoid or like any rugs you recommend? I'm not too picky to be honest

Xiaomi X20 Max: Wi-Fi module unresponsive, LED won't turn on, but robot runs 100% manually

Hey everyone, I need some help with my Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X20 Max.

Out of nowhere, it lost connection with the Xiaomi Home app and won't reconnect. Everything else on the robot is working 100%. It sweeps, mops, docks, charges, and drains water normally via the physical buttons.

The issue:

* When holding Power + Home to reset the network, the robot voice says "Waiting for network configuration", but right after that, the buttons start flashing orange.

* The blue Wi-Fi LED under the lid never turns on, it stays completely dark.

* The robot does not broadcast its temporary Wi-Fi SSID (xiaomi-...), and the app cannot discover it via Bluetooth, manual search, or QR code.

What I have already tested:

* Charged battery to 100% on the dock.

* Hard reset via the pinhole button under the lid.

* Disconnected the main battery plug from the motherboard for about 30 minutes to drain residual power for a cold boot.

Still nothing. The Wi-Fi LED remains completely dead and no signal is emitted.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any troubleshooting tips or schematic pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Anyone figured out how to use a Shark Matrix in multiple places?

The shark matrix software only supports one map, and the robot seems hopelessly lost without a map. You also can’t map and run the vacuum in the same run. Crazy that my 20 year old roomba could be carried room to room and I’d just press clean and it did a great job, but this new robot fails at that most basic of tasks. It’s very frustrating as the robot is great otherwise, but we have transition strips it can’t clear and multiple floors so the robot is kind of useless to us as it is. Model is RV2400WD, but I think the issue applies to all shark robots. Anyone figure a workaround?

Pathing never used to be this bad. A lot of this isn't even cleaning, just moving around. Wastes so much time. 45 minutes in and it hasn't even finished this one room because it's just been wandering aimlessly. Edit: apparently it thinks this room IS done, it's moved on to the next. There are huge chunks it's missed!

Anyone else have this?

Best VACUUM ONLY Robot Vacuum?

Hi all,

I'm living in New York City in an 1,100 sq ft apartment along with my partner and two cats. I typically have a cleaner come every week, or sometimes twice a week if I'll be hosting a party; I'd like to cut back and have someone come every other week. My cats both shed, and my partner has long hair, so I'd really like a vacuum that can easily handle fur / hair. I don't need a robot with a mop feature (I'd rather not have to deal with emptying a water bin and re-filling a container with my preferred cleaning solution). My budget's about $1,500, and I'd prefer something from a trusted brand that we know will last several years. The apartment is all on one level but there's an inch lip between the kitchen and the dining room. The kitchen and bathroom floors are tile while everything else is hardwood and there is a small area rug in the entryway. Lots of furniture and objects that I don't want getting bumped, so good navigation is almost as important as hair-sucking capability. What are a few machines I should consider?

Dust bag doesn’t count down

Hi! I have a couple Roombas. One is the 105v. Neither one of them
Count down the dust bag usage. The one downstairs I’ve had for probably over a month, and it still says I have 60 uses on the dustbag. They are installed correctly. Has anybody else been able to solve this problem?

Am I overworking my vacuum friend? First time owner (J15 Ultra)

So recently I went ahead and ordered our very first vacuum robot after months of contemplating. It's an Eureka J15 Ultra!

My allergy problems seem to have improved since Dustin started cleaning and it's an immense help, mentally and physically! But I'm worried his schedule or the apartment size will take a toll on him quickly and damage him.

DETAILS: We have hardwood floors, no pets but both of us have long hair and on some weekends, we have like 7 guests over.

The whole cleaning-area of the while apartment measures like 50-55 square meters.

Every day he vacuums one room.

Except on Monday, he mops and vacuums the whole apartment, which takes quite a while and makes me feel anxious. I'm scared that might be too much in the long run, or just generally too extreme.

We want to have Dustin for as long as possible.

Is this schedule too hard on him?

Shark Matrix not working (new out of box)

Post image
1 Upvotes

I bought a shark matrix on clearance at Walmart and as soon as I unboxed it and set it up on the charger it has the white light that stays on in the middle and then the red on the sides flashes every couple seconds it's been sitting on the charger for days and it just has the same lights. Anyone know the issue with this?

Any suggestions to help my saros 20?

My vacuum constantly gets clogged on emptying. I have pets and live inside of a forest so I will get redwood needles and hair on the floor a lot. I just feel like no robot vacuum is designed for this which honestly after so many years of vacuum design is really annoying that a product hasn't been engineered for a home like mine.

So I'm looking for a robot vacuum that can mop too, I have a small short-haired dog that can shed a bit, however Im not looking to spend so much on a robot. I found some deals on some robots but they all seem very similar to each other so I'm not sure what to get! Any opinions?
