Woah! Why were Johnny Socko lost to time? I'm a younger guy and got into ska towards the end of high school, and am slowly building my catalogue of bands. Very surprised they are not spoken on more often.

Looking for kickass underground late-'90s Latino ska punk from the Central Coast area of California? Look no further than Caradura (Cara Dura?) and look far and wide you will, because little evidence seems to remain of this horns-heavy Watsonville/Santa Cruz outfit beyond this CD. I don't REMEMBER seeing them live, but where else could I have gotten this disc from than at a show since it is totally DIY with a crookedly-cut-by-hand photocopied cardstock cover without any tracks listed? And yet the music is great, I've listened to it a thousand times over the years! Found a mention of them online reprinted from a 2001 issue of Metro Santa Cruz, about them breaking up, and not much else. No Discogs listing of this. Lyrics, mostly in español, are fire. Here's the whole thing on YouTube, enjoy!!! Let it play out at the end for the "hidden track" 15th song! Caradura 1. Camino de la Muerte

4. La Migra (Hey Ho)

hey hey! this is a long shot, but SKA CITY is doing a DIY video for a song off our new album, THESE DAYS, coming out in mid november. if you're in the asheville, NC area and have a restaurant-sized space we can use for a few nighttime hours, please reach out. we'll be miming to a recorded track, so no live instruments except for a small drum set. we'd be happy to show your business name at a couple points in the video as our thanks, if that makes you happy. thanks so much!

Hey r/Ska,

We just dropped our new dub reggae track, Devolution, early on Bandcamp ahead of its full streaming release on October 31st.

Devolution is a bit of a departure from our usual ska sound. It’s a heavy, re-engineered dub mix built out from the rhythm stems of our 2024 song Revolution. If you dig deep sub-bass and spacey dub production, give it a spin:

Always appreciate anyone taking a minute to listen and support independent music!
