Hello everyone,
Lately I've had to manually unspam a lot of totally legitimate posts. The Reddit spam system is not totally under the control of the moderators so I can't fathom why it's blocking allowed content or how to modify its sensitivity. If you posted a topic you think is fine, and it's not showing when you are logged off or in an incognito window, please message the moderators to inquire what may be the problem.

These are from the continent of Eastyria which is almost like an analog for Continental Europe with a little fantasy flair.
It's love at first sight, i really want their kriegsmesser now.

You are in the locker room next to the arena. In the arena is a swordsman. You cannot see him, and you do not know how large or quick he is, or whether he is an experienced or a novice swordsman. You do not know what type of sword he has, but you know that he has one and only one sword. Neither he nor you is carrying a shield. If you like, each of you is wearing a light material that will render strikes non-lethal. Neither of you is wearing heavy armor. You are of average male build, and you have a moderate amount of experience wielding every type of sword.
On the walls around you are swords of every kind. Before you enter the arena, you must pick one sword to bring with you for the duel. Once you enter the arena, you will fight until one of you is incapacitated or has received a blow that would be lethal without your armor fabric.
What sword should you choose?

Has anyone ever seen this sword before? Or possibly able to identify it and direct me which way to go?

Like the title says... my favorite short sword. I can't reccomend this company enough. These swords are HEAVILY fully functional, come very sharp, holds an edge, and feel absolutely fantastic in hand.

Looking to rehome an Albion BeastMaster sword. Sword is in great condition with just a few minor spots that could use some light polishing. Hilt has one little mark, looks almost they necked it with a fingernail. Can be seen in photos. No certificate included but can easily be attained from Albion. Comes with crate. 3000 Washington slips plus shipping/insurance.

My cousin bought this sword for just over €1000 whilst visiting Myanmar. From what I was told, the shop sold all sorts of relics and items of historical interest.
It's supposed to be a Japanese officer's sword from WW2, but it's blunt and has no markings on the blade. I understand that there might be markings on the blade at the hilt after removing some pins, but the overall quality of the components look questionable to me. Can anyone please tell me whether this is a counterfeit/reproduction/franken-sword?
Any help would be massively appreciated

Very minor question, Im considering getting Tod's dennington longsword, but i wish I could get it half wire wrapped like you can get most Albion longswords, so I was wondering would it be an easy modification to make, and are there any craftsmen (preferably in the UK) you know that would be willing to do that work? Thanks

Hello, I am interested in purchasing a Seax for use in the woodshop to supplement the froe and the hatchet. Is this a bad idea? For smaller splitting tasks a froe is often very awkward clumsy to use, same with axes. Machetes are too thin.
I essentially would use it for uncontrolled splitting in straight grained wood, chopping an inch or so off of a board that’s too wide, roughing out irregular shapes via chopping etc.
What I’ve been fantasizing about is a big, single beveled knife with a thick spine I can whack with a club, and have it hold up. I then realize that’s basically what Seax is. I do realize I can just take the handle out of the froe and hold the bit but I am looking for something longer, maybe a >12” blade.
Any recommendations or input is appreciated

By Latin American swords, I mean the ones that their own countries officially adopted for their own militaries. European and American regulation swords are well documented but latin america especially since the 1830s, not so much, even when i google in Spanish, I’m not finding much on regulation blades if any exist or if I find something it’s dated to the late 1880s or 90s and has prussian and french influence as a frankensword. it would be nice if there were some regulation haitian, mexican, bolivian or salvadorian infantry or cavalry swords or sabers on par with the us/europe. because the US had lots like the m1902, m1859 and m1818 sabers. if you had some sources that were point me in the right direction, please let me know.

Hello, I have this dagger which I've been told is a Russian cossack dagger but I'm not sure and would love to learn more about it.
On the blade it has a date on it which I think says 1868 on it as well as a double headed eagle with a crown above it which I think is the Russian imperial eagle.
Would love it if there are some people who could help me find out more about it and help to find out its origins.

I've never made a sword before (not sharp of course) and didn't watch any videos. I winged the dimensions and went with what felt right. Not the best I know but it's mine

First contacted BlackFencer about this project way back in 2023, but I forgot about it due to life things in 2024 and remembered it recently and they still had the blade laying around and pretty quickly assembled the rest of the hilt and got it shipped to me in 5 days. Great addition to my collection!

I've had this sword for over 20 years (I think I paid just under 200 when I got it). Its been slightly abused, and has done ALOT of cutting. It's still razor sharp today, only maintenance I've done to it was changing the pins a couple of times, and wiping the blade down with a silicone cloth occasionally. No oxidation, just a few very small chips on the edge from hitting metal. Highly reccomend if you want a functional katana that is very affordable.

Is there meaning behind the distinctively Swiss dog head pommels on otherwise standard “Sinclair hilts” or Walloon hilted swords?
